GENERAL PURPOSE:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Act as the primary point of contact for rental inquiries, promptly responding to emails, phone calls, and in-person inquiries regarding facility rentals.
• Facilitate the rental booking process by liaising with internal staff and external parties to schedule rental dates, coordinate setup requirements, and confirm rental agreements.
• Oversee the rental application process by providing interested parties with necessary documentation, rental agreements, and pricing details.
• Collect and review rental applications, ensuring all required information is complete and accurate.
• Provide timely updates to both renters and internal stakeholders regarding rental status, payment deadlines, and any changes to rental arrangements.
• Maintain organized records of rental bookings, payments, and rental agreements, ensuring compliance with rental policies and procedures. 
• Schedule and provide regular in-service training for facilities staff. 
• Plan, develop and implement programs and events.
• Evaluate the progress and effectiveness of scheduling and programming utilizing measurable outcomes.
• Assist in the development of policies, procedures, contracts, and manuals for facility users and staff.
• Provide assistance and guidance to facility users, anticipate and resolve problems, provide quality customer service.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

This position is limited to up to 1000 hours per year. However, employment might end sooner, depending on the needs of the hiring department. Extra-help positions are paid hourly and are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment. 

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform watering, weeding, pesticide applications, pruning, trash control and perform minor repairs and custodial maintenance.

• Ensure compliance with park rules, codes and ordinances.

Benefits

• $86,683 to $105,364 annually
• Non-exempt employees assigned to a 56-hour (average) workweek schedule will receive pay for overtime as defined in the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). All overtime shall be paid at a rate of one and one-half (1 ½) times the regular hourly rate of pay.
• All covered employees hired on or after December 28, 2012, who are not defined as “new members” under the Public Employees Pension Reform Act (“PEPRA”) will be covered by the 3% @ 55 retirement formula and the 36 highest consecutive months’ final compensation provision.  All covered employees hired on or after January 1, 2013, and who are defined as “new members” under PEPRA will be covered by the 2.7% at 57 retirement formula and the 36 highest consecutive months’ final compensation provision. 
• Regular employees, after completion of their probationary period, shall be eligible for the Health Care Reimbursement Program. Eligible employees receive a credit of $1300 each January 1.
• For all regular employees working full time, the District will pay 85% of the premiums currently in effect for employee and dependent coverage for the lowest cost plan available to District employees offered through the PERS system.
• For all regular employees working full-time, the District will pay 85% of the premiums for employee and dependent coverage for the lowest-cost dental plan.  In the event the employees elect a higher cost coverage, the employees shall pay the increased cost for that plan.
• A Group Life Insurance Plan will be provided with a $25,000 life insurance policy for each unit member, a $1,000 policy for each employee's spouse, and a $1,000 for each employee's dependent under the age of 21.  The CCSD will pay the full monthly premium for each unit member, spouse, and dependent children.
• Covered employees assigned to a 56-hour average workweek schedule shall accrue 4.31 hours of vacation leave biweekly (112 hrs/yr) from the date of hire to sixty (60) months of service.
• Each full-time employee, assigned to a 56-hour average workweek, shall accrue sick leave from the date of employment at the rate of 6.4 hours per 14-day payroll period (based on 120 hours per year times the conversion factor of 1.4).
• In lieu of time off on holidays, covered employees assigned to a 56-hour workweek shall accrue 5.92 hours of holiday leave per 14-day payroll period for a total of 154 hours per year (based on 110 hours per year times the conversion factor of 1.4). 
• The District shall provide covered employees with an annual boot or safety shoe allowance of $250, payable in July of each year.

Job Description

This position performs preventive, routine and emergency maintenance and repair of a variety of heavy and light industrial and marine equipment, related systems and components. The incumbent will operate precision equipment and respond to trouble calls associated with the Port's ferry terminal systems, boats, sewer pumps and other Port related equipment. The nature of this work requires sustained physical effort frequently under adverse weather conditions and/or working in confined spaces. About Happy Hollow Park & Zoo (HHPZ): This is a 16-acre amusement park and Association of Zoo's & Aquariums (AZA) accredited zoo located in San José, California. About Zookeeper Full Time/Part Time: The position performs work involving the care and feeding of zoo, domestic farm, and/or non-domestic animals and maintenance of enclosures, grounds and service areas; working with animals under all types of climatic conditions to prepare them for presentations, training, capture and restraint, basic husbandry, and behavioral enrichment. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.The Department of Public Works is seeking to fill a Maintenance Worker I position in the HVAC Shop located at the Central Service Yard within the Facilities Management Division. The Maintenance Worker I will support the basic preventative maintenance of the air conditioning work group. This position reports directly to the Air Conditioning Supervisor for various daily assignments. Working under immediate supervision and working with HVAC Staff and/or independently in mechanical rooms and on rooftops would be a regular occurrence.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Performs preventive maintenance functions on Exhaust Fans, HVAC Package units and Air Handlers.
• Clean HVAC Cooling Towers and Mechanical Rooms.
• Install V-belts on HVAC Equipment.
• Uses general carpentry, mechanical and hand tools such as power saws, hand saws, drills, pliers, wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, ladders and other tools and equipment.
• Installs air filters in various types of air conditioning equipment.
• Cleans aluminum finned condenser and evaporator coils.

The HVAC SHOP maintains all City-Wide Facilities, including Police Buildings. The San Jose Police Department requires all civilians working at their facilities pass a background check and obtain a Civilian Police Badge. The Maintenance Worker I candidate will be expected to apply for and successfully pass the Police Department background check, to successfully pass their probationary period.

A Dance Instructor (Program Specialist) will plan, prepare and instruct recreation activities. Activities may include art, cooking, dance, pre-school program and other program areas. Programs are designed for children ages 4-17 (primarily 5-12) years of age.

General supervision is provided by a program coordinator or Recreation Supervisor. The Program Specialist may supervise a part-time aide and/or "counselor in training" in a classroom environment in daily activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
• Different program areas will have different skills and knowledge requirements for the position; check with Recreation Supervisor. (For example: 6 ECE unites required for pre-school instructor)
• One school year teaching experience
• At least one year's experience working with children in an academic setting
• Must be willing and able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required

REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT

• Must be able to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations or information with tact, discretion and significant awareness of confidentiality
• Must effectively communicate with adults and children from a variety of cultural backgrounds
• Willingness to comply with suspected child abuse reporting (11166.5 PC)
• Employees are required to be certified in Adult/Child CPR & First Aid from American Red Cross, American Heart Association or supervisor approved equivalent. Employees must be certified within 30 days of hire date or prior to the first day of work, whichever occurs earlier.
