Temporary Maintenance Worker – Parks & Roadsides 

Salary: $20.00/hour

DEFINITION 

Perform a variety of general maintenance services for parks and roadsides and other areas as assigned within the Town.   

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position. 
• Flexible schedule up to 29 hours per week, which may include weekend work; not to exceed 950 hours per calendar year. The schedule for this position would be Friday through Monday. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED 

General supervision is received from the Maintenance Supervisor. May exercise supervision of Work Alternative Program participants as assigned. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES 

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:  

• Clean up trash in and around Town-maintained park and roadside areas. 
• Operate a variety of equipment, including: half ton and three-quarter ton trucks, Cushman and golf cart (or similar) vehicles, blowers and other two-cycle equipment, and hand tools (i.e., shovel, rake, hoe, etc.). 
• Periodically groom sports fields and bocce ball courts with equipment and/or machinery provided. 
• Prepare baseball fields and bocce ball courts for league play. 
• Assist Maintenance Services personnel on assigned projects.  

• Perform duties within OSHA standards. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Knowledge of: 

• Construction and maintenance materials, methods, and terminology. 

• The use, purposes and maintenance of hand tools; and the operation of light and moderately heavy power-driven equipment in performing duties. 

Ability to: 

• Understand and follow oral and written directions. 
• Ability to work both in a supervised and unsupervised environment. 
• Perform manual labor for extended periods of time; and operate under tight deadlines. 
• Lift equipment and materials up to 50 lbs. 
• Work flexible hours. 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION 

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: 

Education: 

Equivalent to completion of the eighth grade. Graduation from high school or equivalent is preferred. 

Experience: 

Landscape and/or irrigation maintenance experience is desirable. 

LICENCE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S) 

Possession of a valid California State Driver’s License, or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire and good driving record.

The Sheriff’s Activities League Executive Director plans, coordinates, recommends, develops, implements and evaluates goals, objectives, policies and procedures related to youth programs; provides leadership and coordination to community groups, public and private agencies, advisory boards and volunteers in planning and implementing programs; provides highly complex staff support to senior level management within assigned area of specialization. As the Executive Director, your responsibilities will include:

Job Description

This position performs preventive, routine and emergency maintenance and repair of a variety of heavy and light industrial and marine equipment, related systems and components. The incumbent will operate precision equipment and respond to trouble calls associated with the Port's ferry terminal systems, boats, sewer pumps and other Port related equipment. The nature of this work requires sustained physical effort frequently under adverse weather conditions and/or working in confined spaces. The incumbent may be required to work alternative shifts in order to do tide-dependent work.

Nature of Work: Some positions may involve exposure to adverse physical and working condition and lifting objects weighing in excess of 70 pounds. Incumbents will be required to work varying hours and/or shifts, including weekends, evening and holidays in a 24 hour/7 days-a week operation.

DEFINITION

This vacancy is specifically for the Field Operations CSO position.

The City of Foster City is looking for a dedicated and responsible individual to join the Police Department as a Senior Community Services Officer. This position requires mature judgement and discretion and is given specialized training. We are seeking highly skilled individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Under general supervision, this position supplements administrative staff and provides support for sworn staff in police operations. There are four main assignment areas for the position, but currently there is only one vacancy in Field Operations.

Field Operations Assignment:
Performs vehicle abatement duties, provides parking enforcement, performs evidence collection and processing in accordance with departmental procedures, prepares police and operational reports. Responds to subpoenas as necessary. Handle a variety of department fleet maintenance and equipment maintenance duties; run errands in support of department operations, and other duties as assigned.

Selection Process

What You’ll Do

Under the general direction of the City Clerk, the Deputy City Clerk uses independent judgement to plan, organize, direct, and perform a variety of complex administrative, technical, and supervisory duties in support of the City Clerk Department’s day-to-day operations, primarily legislative operations and contract and process management. The Deputy City Clerk serves as the second in command within the City Clerk’s Department and provides backup to the City Clerk.  The Deputy City Clerk will provide a high level of administrative and technical support to the City Clerk and other departments and perform all duties of the City Clerk in his/her absence. • Implements and manages the agenda production process including maintaining a deep knowledge of the agenda management software and process; training staff in the use of the software and process; and assists in deploying consistent agenda practices across the organization; coordinating with other departments on agenda content; enforcing work product standards and holding departments and higher classifications responsible for meeting standards and deadlines; and producing the agenda and agenda packet per state law and city requirements.
• Manages the publication of legal and public notices, for all Council bodies, in accordance with City, State and Federal law, and filing, indexing, certifying, processing for recordation, and safeguarding of all City Council proceedings.
• Maintains compliance with applicable Federal, State, local laws, relating to areas of responsibility, including but not limited to, California Elections Coe, the Brown Act, Political Reform Act, Conflict of Interest Code, and the Public Records Act.
• Oversees maintenance and development of City-wide records management initiatives.
• Assists the City Clerk in the administration and conduct of municipal elections and special events. Serves as Filing Officer for campaign and conflict of interest finance reporting.
• Serves as liaison to the County Registrar of Voters.
• Attends City Council meetings with the City Clerk to assist with operating the audio / visual / agenda / voting system and take minutes as required.  Responsible for after Council action including producing and maintaining official City records and documents in good order such as resolutions, ordinances, contracts, deeds, correspondence, inter-agency notifications and minutes.
• Prioritizes work of staff; develops and trains staff; conducts performance evaluations; approves actions regarding hiring, promoting, and disciplining; and approves recommendations on all employee actions.

The Deputy City Clerk receives general supervision from the City Clerk or higher level personnel and exercises direct supervision over management and administrative staff.

THE POSITION

As part of the Parks and Community Services Department, the intern will broaden their knowledge of the operations involved in coordinating City-provided programs, facilities, and events. Some specific tasks include research and development of programs for the Dublin Arts Center, planning and implementing special events and summer camps, waterpark operations, and website management. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Examine; provide technical information, report on, and document data in accordance with assigned department.
• Organize, produce, and maintain records and process forms including reports specific to the organizational unit.
• Independently prepare and update a variety of report and special projects relating to the activities of the assigned Department.
• Provide professional-level support to Department as required.
• Conduct field surveys, research and inventory studies for various City programs.
• Prepare written reports and related correspondence on assigned projects.
• Read plans, maps, ordinances, laws and related documents.
• Assume multiple projects of varying degrees of complexity.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• May receive and screen visitors and telephone calls providing factual information regarding City activities and functions.
• Perform miscellaneous office and administrative duties as required.
