The Office is seeking a motivated individual with the ability to work independently and also in a team environment. This position is responsible for performing legal secretarial duties requiring both sound judgment and good technical skills. These duties may include, but are not limited to, transcribing, preparing, processing, and e-filing pleadings/briefs in the various state and federal courts; preparing and processing correspondence, contracts, ordinances, resolutions, City Council memoranda, and other legal documents and instruments; maintaining calendars for attorneys; answering telephones and contacting other offices to provide, obtain, and/or coordinate information and/or appearances; performing office filing; and organizing and maintaining a wide variety of information and materials in support of attorneys. The skill level of this position places strong emphasis on accuracy, quality, and attention to detail. A strong knowledge base of legal procedures and court rules (federal and state) is desirable. Salary Range

Job Description

This position performs preventive, routine and emergency maintenance and repair of a variety of heavy and light industrial and marine equipment, related systems and components. The incumbent will operate precision equipment and respond to trouble calls associated with the Port's ferry terminal systems, boats, sewer pumps and other Port related equipment. The nature of this work requires sustained physical effort frequently under adverse weather conditions and/or working in confined spaces. The incumbent may be required to work alternative shifts in order to do tide-dependent work.

Nature of Work: Some positions may involve exposure to adverse physical and working condition and lifting objects weighing in excess of 70 pounds. Incumbents will be required to work varying hours and/or shifts, including weekends, evening and holidays in a 24 hour/7 days-a week operation.

About the Position

Position is responsible for a wide variety of recreation activities, including supervising Youth Center gym rentals and scorekeeping for adult and youth sports leagues (softball, basketball, flag football soccer, bocce ball, kickball, corn hole). Responsibilities during scorekeeping will include head on site supervisor, set up and cleanup of facility or field, maintain score and game time. Receives general supervision from a full-time Recreation Department staff member; may work under functional supervision of a Program Coordinator as assigned.

Schedule will vary depending on sports season; mornings, nights, and weekends as scheduled. Monday-Friday between hours 5:00pm-10:30pm, and weekends as scheduled.

Essential Duties

• Works directly with the public.
• Serves as site or program supervisor.

• Performs site maintenance duties.

About the Position

Positions in this classification perform work in the organization and implementation of a wide variety of recreation activities. 

The work schedule will be Monday-Thursday 4:00pm-9:00pm but may vary based on the needs of the City.

The Program Coordinator classification is the top-level position in the Recreation Leader Series.  Advancement from Recreation Leader Level II to Program Coordinator requires 500 hours of work experience at Recreation Leader Level II, or equivalent experience.

May provide functional supervision to a Recreation Leader I or II as assigned.  Receives general supervision from a full-time Recreation Department staff member.

Essential Duties

• Provide evening customer support, which includes front desk coverage at the Adult Community Center, processing registrations and payments, processing refunds and transfers, answering phone, contacting customers through emails and calls.

• Room set ups and break downs.

• Assist with program marketing including social media and flyers.

This vacancy is specifically for the Field Operations CSO position.

The City of Foster City is looking for a dedicated and responsible individual to join the Police Department as a Senior Community Services Officer. This position requires mature judgement and discretion and is given specialized training. We are seeking highly skilled individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Under general supervision, this position supplements administrative staff and provides support for sworn staff in police operations. There are four main assignment areas for the position, but currently there is only one vacancy in Field Operations.

Field Operations Assignment:
Performs vehicle abatement duties, provides parking enforcement, performs evidence collection and processing in accordance with departmental procedures, prepares police and operational reports. Responds to subpoenas as necessary. Handle a variety of department fleet maintenance and equipment maintenance duties; run errands in support of department operations, and other duties as assigned.

Education and Training Guidelines:
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way would be:

Education:  A high school diploma or equivalent with courses in office administration or specialized job training, with undergraduate college course work, specialized administrative or law enforcement education and/or training. An associate degree is desirable.

Experience:  Two (2) years of full-time experience using computers, telephones, radios and other modern office equipment and programs including preparing, compiling and distributing records, budgets, reports and statistical information. Prior experience in Property/Evidence is desirable.

Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a good driving record.

Special Requirements
Ability to provide effective service and technical support; ability to learn all assignments; ability to sit for long periods of time, stoop, squat, lift and carry small boxes, supplies and equipment up to 25 lbs.; ability to remain calm and courteous in stressful situations, possess stamina for high workload periods, high profile projects and tight deadlines; coordinate and communicate with a wide range of people, effectively disseminate information and analyze relevant data; flexibility to work irregular hours and overtime as necessary; handle multiple priorities and respond to urgent requests; provide community service in a polite and courteous manner.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. Applicants selected for a Departmental interview must complete a background investigation which includes a polygraph and fingerprinting. After a conditional job offer, applicants must also complete a psychological examination and pre-employment medical examination.

THE DEPARTMENT

The City of East Palo Alto is seeking qualified candidates for a Building Inspector I/II. Under direct or general supervision, the Building Inspector I/II performs routine to complex inspections at various stages of construction, alterations, and repair of residential, commercial, and industrial building sites to enforce building, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and environmental codes, and other governing laws and ordinances. The Building Inspector I/II provides a variety of information to property owners, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors; and performs related duties, as assigned. The Building Inspector II differs from the level I in that is the advanced level classification in the Building Inspector series. Work is normally reviewed upon completion and for overall results. Incumbents also provide lead direction and functional supervision to assigned clerical, technical, and professional staff.
