San Mateo County Libraries (SMCL) is currently offering an opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed, energetic and flexible manager to join a progressive, future-oriented team. Under general direction from the Library Director and/or Deputy Directors, the Library Services Manager - Employee Services will serve as the organization’s subject matter expert regarding a variety of personnel processes. The Controller's Office maintains the County's financial accounting system, processes disbursements and journal entries, produces independently audited and award winning annual financial reports and performs internal audits of departments' operations. The Controller's Office is staffed with accountants, auditors, and fiscal personnel.

The San Mateo County Controller's Office is seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of Controller's Division Manager for the Finance & Administration Division.

The person hired for this position will manage the Finance & Administration Division and provide staff support, financial guidance, administration, and leadership within the Controller's Office.

About the Position

The Public Works Maintenance Worker I is an entry-level classification in the Maintenance Worker series. Assigned duties in this classification are routine tasks requiring no experience or limited experience. Employees at this level perform a limited range of duties under immediate supervision in accordance with established guidelines and procedures and are not expected to perform with the same independence of supervision and judgment on matters related to Town guidelines and procedures as Level II/III.

Employees at this level receive immediate supervision from a manager designated by the City Manager and functional supervision from higher level Maintenance Workers. Incumbents may provide limited direction to less experienced employees in this classification or to seasonal workers.

The position requires working day, night, and weekend shifts at the Newbury Park Library, 2331 Borchard Road, Newbury Park, CA 91320 and may include shifts at the Grant R. Brimhall Library, 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, CA 91362.

Primary responsibilities:

Circulation Services staff perform a variety of clerical and office support duties in a teamwork-oriented environment.  Primary responsibilities include providing in-person service at a Circulation Desk and over the phone, checking materials in and out, resolving problems such as lost and damaged or claims returned items, and registering or updating library cards.  Hourly Library Aides also assist full-time staff in tracking overdue materials, collection notices, and hold requests.

About the Role

The newly created Community Services Division Director position is an exciting and unique opportunity to build a new division of the City of San Rafael.

The Community Services Division Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the City of San Rafael's efforts to address critical social issues, particularly focusing on homelessness at this time.  Reporting directly to the Assistant City Manager, the Division Director will oversee and develop the newly created Community Services Division, ensuring the effective development and implementation of programs that improve the quality of life for residents in need.

In this role, the Division Director will manage a broad range of responsibilities, from strategic planning and policy development to budget management and interdepartmental and interagency coordination. They will be a key liaison between the City and  our County partners, and various other stakeholders, including public agencies, community organizations, and residents. Accountant I

This is the entry-level classification in the Accountant Series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents perform a variety of professional accounting duties while learning City policies and procedures. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied, complex, and difficult and close supervision and frequent review of work lessen as an incumbent demonstrates skill to perform the work independently. Positions at this level usually perform most of the duties required of the positions at the II level, but are not expected to function at the same skill level and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise.

Accountant II

This is the full journey-level classification in the series. Positions at this level are distinguished from the I-level by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Successful performance of the work requires thorough knowledge of governmental accounting practices and procedures, fund accounting, and fiscal management.

The positions in the Accountant class series are flexibly staffed. Accountant I positions have the opportunity to advance to the Accountant II level, subject to management approval and the employee’s ability to (i) perform the full range of duties assigned to the Accountant II level, and (ii) acquire the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to meet the minimum qualifications for the Accountant II level of the series.

The Big Lift, a collective impact initiative that seeks to increase kindergarten readiness and improve third grade reading proficiency in San Mateo County, is recruiting to fill one Intern Fellow II vacancy.

The City of Sunnyvale is searching for a Budget Manager in the Department of Finance. The Budget Manager is a division-level manager responsible for developing, administering, and overseeing the City's sophisticated Operating and Capital Budgets and Twenty-Year Financial Plans. This position participates in the development of the City's financial systems, conducts and presents complex financial information and analysis to executive management and others to assist in policy decision making. This classification receives administrative direction from the Director of Finance or Assistant Director of Finance and exercises direct supervision over management, professional, technical and clerical staff in the Budget Division.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, accounting, finance, business or public administration or a closely related field, AND

Five years of increasingly responsible management and/or administrative analytical work experience which includes a minimum of three years of budget experience.

The City of Dixon is looking to fill one full-time position for a Maintenance Worker I/II in the Public Works Department and to create an eligibility list for future use. This position performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair of the City's parks, buildings, streets, storm drain ponds and related facilities; to perform related duties as assigned.

Under direction, the Custodian performs routine manual cleaning tasks in public buildings, schools, other facilities, and surrounding areas. 

Examples of essential duties include but not limited to the following:

• Sweeps, scrubs, mops, spots and waxes floors; vacuums and cleans rugs and carpets.
• Cleans, dusts and polishes cabinets, furniture and woodwork; empties and cleans waste receptacles and ashtrays.
• Cleans stairways and hallways; cleans and disinfects restrooms and replenishes supplies; may perform minor duties in unplugging sinks and toilets; cleans offices and lobbies; cleans ceilings, walls, window shades, light fixtures and venetian blinds.
• Assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment.
• Turns out lights and locks doors and windows.
• Operates scrubbers, buffers, waxers and related electrical appliances and equipment; may tend simple, low pressure heating and ventilating systems; may check water levels in gauges and periodically perform routine servicing to boilers and pumps.
• In recreational areas, cleans auditoriums, gymnasiums, club houses and locker rooms; picks up papers and rubbish in play areas; hangs flags and decorations; reports evidences of vandalism, broken plumbing, windows, doors, locks, etc.
• May wash interior glass partitions and interior and exterior windows which can be easily reached from floor or ground level.
• As school custodian, may supervise and maintain order among students during recess periods; distributes milk or other refreshments to students; performs minor duties in repairing  chairs, desks and toys.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
