POSITION

Perform complex engineering duties and support work involving current and planned development and public works projects and programs. Branches of assignment include Capital Program Execution, Development Services, Traffic/ Transportation Engineering or Utilities Infrastructure Engineering. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist in conducting preliminary studies of engineering projects and help prepare plans for public improvements such as streets, storm drains, sewers, water works, and other public projects. Supervise, coordinate and perform professional engineering work in the design and construction of, streets, sidewalks, water and sewage facilities, and drainage structures, and other public work. Review plans, maps, specifications, cost estimates, and other work for accuracy, presentation, and conformance with established engineering practices. Perform field inspections of public works construction projects, materials testing, survey work and calculations. Prepare preliminary drawings for public works projects, tabulate field data, design improvement plans, specifications, contracts, and other documents.  Make calculations in surveying and other construction work. Assist in preparation of long-range capital improvement programs and budgets. Prepare written staff reports for departmental use and/or presentation to the City Council and City Commissions. Respond to citizen complaints and questions. Assist with property development agreements Prepare plans and legal descriptions for right-of-way acquisition. Prepare reports and applications for State and Federal funding. Supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff. Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

POSITION SUMMARY:
Under general direction by the City Manager, this position facilitates the legislative processes of the City, including facilitating of City Council meetings and activities, organizing of the City’s legislative position, performing mandated functions required by State law, and other assignments as directed. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Retirement: CalPERS retirement plan for Classic members is 2% @ 60 with employee paying a contribution of 7%. THE POSITION

The Recreation Division of the Community Services Department works within a business model that recovers program costs. The successful Recreation Supervisor candidate is a dynamic, effective leader with advanced knowledge of programming, budgeting, and implementing a variety of recreation services and activities who demonstrates creative problem solving and excellent customer service skills.  Recreation Supervisors exercise considerable judgment in day to day decision making with the scheduling and operations of recreation activities and programming. Recreation Supervisors work in various community services areas including: programming, day camps, community center operations, field allocations, marketing, contract classes, volunteers, and/or special events. Some Recreation Supervisors work within the Department’s  food, beverage, and hospitality facilities located in Aqua Adventure Waterpark and the City’s sports complex. All positions supervise part-time staff and establish positive working relationships with the public and community groups. Recreation Supervisors are accountable for ensuring programs meet the quality and service standards established by the Department and for keeping current on developments in the field and making recommendations to expand and improve activities and programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Plan, organize and manage diverse recreation programs and activities that may include day camps and special events; coordinate activities with community groups, other  City departments, or through partnerships

ASSISTANT ENGINEER

$6,300 - $7,657 mo. + excellent benefits

DEFINITION: To perform professional and technical engineering work in an assigned area such as plan and development review, contract administration and design; and to provide technical staff assistance to higher level engineering staff.  Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same level of independence and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the journey level and receive general supervision from higher level engineering staff.

• Review and comment on design drawings, specifications, calculations and estimates in connection with the construction, alteration and/or maintenance of a wide variety of engineering projects.

THE POSITION

The Human Resources Department is accepting applications for the citywide classification of Senior Engineer. • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with major course work in civil, environmental engineering, construction engineering technology or a closely related field..

License or Certificate

• Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment.

SELECTION PROCESS

All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will have their application scored in a Formula Rate Examination.  The applicant’s experience and education will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula.  Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the Employment List.  Supplemental questions will be utilized by the department hiring authority to make interview and selection determinations.  Final appointment is contingent upon a check of past employment references, passing a City-paid fingerprint check and depending on position applied for a pre-employment medical exam and a drug and alcohol screening test.
