MAINTENANCE WORKER (Full time)

Working in the Public Works Department, the Maintenance Worker I/II will perform a variety of unskilled, semiskilled and skilled light and heavy duty construction, maintenance and repair work involving public works, sewer and drainage systems, buildings, parking meters, and other facilities.

The position will be filled as a Maintenance Worker I/II based on the experience and qualifications of the candidate.

SALARY RANGE:
Maintenance Worker I/II – $3,350.50 to $4,485.52 per month (wages effective 7/1/2024 per MOU).

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Maintenance Worker I:  This is the entry level class in the maintenance worker series. Positions in this class normally perform a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled maintenance tasks. Although trucks and other motorized equipment may be operated by a Maintenance Worker I, the equipment is used on a training basis or for tasks which are repetitious in nature. Under this training concept, positions assigned to the class of Maintenance Worker II which become vacant may reasonably be filled at the Maintenance Worker I level, with the understanding that reassignment to the Maintenance Worker II class may be expected following successful job performance and personal development.

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level in the maintenance worker series. Positions assigned to this class are expected to perform semi‑skilled and skilled public works maintenance activities and to operate light and moderately heavy power‑driven equipment on a continuing basis. All positions allocated to this class require that an incumbent be able to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative to fulfill assigned tasks. Maintenance Workers II may also be expected to assist in the supervision and training of less experienced personnel.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Perform a variety of maintenance work in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, parks, sewers, storm drains, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, parking meters and other public facilities.
• Operate power‑driven equipment such as skip loaders, dump trucks, water trucks and fork lifts.
• Break out old concrete work such as curbs, sidewalks, and gutters.
• Cut and prepare streets for patches, spread premix and oil, and rake asphalt.
• Replace, repair, couple, test, and backfill sewer lines.
• Clean and maintain basic tools used on the job.
• Paint traffic directional markings, such as crosswalks and safety loading zones.
• Fabricate, install, repair and replace street signs.
• Operate heavy power‑driven equipment on a relief or training basis.
• Water, mow, weed, trim, renovate, and fertilize grass and other landscaped areas.
• Rake leaves, clean walks, fields, courts, and other facilities.
• Spade and otherwise prepare ground around plants and shrubs, including mixing and applying fertilizers.
• Plant, trim and/or remove trees, flowers, and shrubs. 
• Load trimmings on trucks for disposal.
• Pick up rubbish and litter materials and perform general grounds cleaning.
• Operate power mowers, edgers, sewer rodders, and other hand-operated and power tools in the performance of maintenance and repair activities.
• Drive vehicles as required and assist in routine care and upkeep of such vehicles.
• Assist in moving and installing park and recreational equipment.
• Install, maintain, and repair sewer system mains, sprinkler systems, pipes and facilities.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair parking meter devices.

City Manager’s Office
The City Manager's Office is responsible for providing strategic direction and support to all City departments for day-today operations and planning, as well as support to the City Council with its policy making. In this capacity, the City Manager's Office resolves complex administrative matters, performs City-wide policy analysis, directs city-wide emergency
preparedness efforts; drives strategic planning and organizational development; oversees employee relations; directs the preparation of the budget in conformance with the Council's approved priorities and Budget Principles; and advises the Council of the City’s financial outlook. In addition, the City Manager's Office has direct responsibility for economic
development, community outreach and engagement, property management, sustainability, community grants, legislative advocacy, and special projects.  
 
The Management Analyst in the City Manager’s Office will be responsible for supporting executive staff, working on projects and assignments related to City programs, and managing the department’s budget and financials.
 
Responsibilities may include:

• Assist in the preparation and administration of the City Manager’s Office departmental budget and financials.
• Administer and/or support key programs and initiatives that may include the City’s Legislative Advocacy, Minimum Wage, Community Grant, Smoke-Free Santa Clara, and Safety Programs, the City’s service request platform (MySantaClara), organizational development, homelessness response, sustainability, real estate, economic development, employee engagement, and development of an internship program.
• Assist with the coordination of the annual Priority Setting Session.
• Provide staff support for committees and serve as a liaison to external organizations and community groups.
• Respond to Public Records Act requests and other inquiries from the public. 
• Provide contract management for various types of agreements. 
• Review, analyze, and prepare a variety of work products including agenda reports to the City Council, policies, agreements, correspondence, Request for Proposals, and other documents. 

 
Mayor & Council Office
The Mayor and Council Office is a division under the City Manager’s Office. The division manages the scheduling for Mayor and City Councilmembers, oversees the fiscal management of the Mayor and Council Office budget, supports official travel needs, and responds to constituent concerns.
 
The Mayor and Council Office’s Management Analyst supports City Council Committees, other intergovernmental assignments, reviews Public Record Act requests for the Mayor and Council, provides support for legislative matters, develops ceremonial and recognition reports, and supports special events. Additionally, the Management Analyst may write remarks and speeches and may be assigned to support City Manager’s Office projects and initiatives. There will be occasional evening work required at City Council meetings.
 
City Manager’s Office/Stadium Authority Executive Director’s Office
The City Manager’s Office also operates as the Stadium Authority Executive Director’s Office. The Stadium Authority owns Levi’s Stadium and contracts with the Forty Niners Stadium Management Company (Stadium Manager) for the management of Non-NFL Events and facility operations and maintenance. The Executive Director’s Office is responsible for the day-to-day management of Stadium Authority operations and providing oversight of the Stadium Manager’s responsibilities.
 
The Stadium Authority Management Analyst will assist the Executive Director’s Office with the day-to-day management of Stadium Authority operations and oversight efforts. This may include responding to inquiries from the public and stadium patrons, assisting with the development of the Executive Director’s Office budget, reviewing and preparing a variety of documents including agreements, Requests for Proposals, and agenda reports to the Stadium Authority Board, providing staff support for meetings, coordinating with departments on financial, legal, and/or public safety matters, supporting community outreach and engagement efforts, conducting research, tracking various assignment and project updates, and working on special projects as assigned.

This position will support the purchasing and contract management activities of the Operations focused Management Team (Purchase Order process management, RFP development and management, budget preparation, contracts management and processing, policy and procedure development and maintenance).  
 
Ideally, candidates will have prior experience working in cross-functional utility teams, utility operations, purchasing and contracts management, and will have a demonstrated aptitude for grasping, conveying, and applying information related to electric or similar technical and dynamic systems as well as interpreting regulations. Experience managing MS SharePoint is highly desirable.
 
Responsibilities may include:

Work Environment/Working Conditions:

Under the supervision of the Volunteer Program Manager in the Visitor Services Department, this position will primarily report out of a designated Midpen field office (Cupertino and/or La Honda), which will include volunteer projects and administrative tasks. This position also works from home approximately one day per week (as approved) and occasionally at the Administration office in Los Altos.  Volunteer initiatives directed by this role may take place across various preserves requiring regular travel to and from the locations.  The Volunteer Program Lead’s schedule requires working at least one weekend day as part of the regular work week schedule, with an option to be on a 9/80 schedule after an initial training period plus occasional evenings and holidays.

 

The Volunteer Program Lead is a fairly independent position that supports the work of one or more departments within the agency, requiring solo work in the field, frequent site visits, and hiking steep terrain in wildland areas with poison oak and wildlife. Field work will also require driving a District truck in remote areas on unimproved dirt roads in inclement weather conditions. Work in the field may also include exposure to loud noise levels, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, hazardous physical substances and fumes.

 

Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of field conditions, as well as in an office environment including some full days of program administrative tasks using various software programs and applications on a computer, phone, or tablet.

Additionally, candidates should be familiar with the principles and practices of trail building, construction, repair, and maintenance, including site planning and resource protection as well as the tools and equipment required for maintaining and repairing open spaces and related facilities.

 

This position wears a prescribed District uniform and adheres to strict safety procedures and work habits. Depending on the exposure, employees may be required to wear head, hearing, eye, foot, face, hand, or other protection equipment.

Additionally, one (1) year of experience in one of the following areas (which can overlap with the above experience):

• One (1) year of experience in evaluating, surveying, or monitoring of natural resource systems, OR
• One (1) year of experience in trail construction, maintenance, and/or repair of parks, open spaces, and/or related facilities.  
• Bilingual skills are highly desirable.

Licenses & Certifications Required:  

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within six (6) months of employment.

The City of Live Oak (Public Works Department) is recruiting to fill ONE vacancy as as a Maintenance Worker I, II, III, or Lead position. Classification will depend on qualifications and experience.

 

Description 

Under varying levels of supervision, performs maintenance and repair of City facilities, roads, streets, water and sewer maintenance activities and performs other duties essential to the maintenance of the City. Current and valid  water distribution certifications and Class A/B commercial drivers license are highly desirable. 

 

Classifications 

Maintenance Worker I: This is the entry-level class in the maintenance series. Under immediate supervision the applicant will perform semi-skilled labor and maintenance and repair. Salary $40,333.75 - $52,125.54 per year ($19.393 - $25.063 per hour) DOQ

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level class in the maintenance series. Under general supervision the applicant will perform semi-skilled and skilled labor and maintenance repair. Salary $44,680.45 - $57,743.03 per year ($21.484 - $27.758 per hour) DOQ

Maintenance Worker III: This is the senior level class in the maintenance series. Under limited supervision the applicant will organize, assign, review, and participate in the work of assigned personnel engaged in maintenance equipment operation work pertaining to building, maintenance and repair. Salary $48,664.92 - $62,892.37 per year ($23.399 - $30.234 per hour) DOQ 

Maintenance Worker Lead: This is the lead level class in the maintenance series. Under direction of supervisory and management staff performs a variety of duties related to scheduling, planning, assigning, and prioritizing construction and maintenance related projects. Exercises technical and functional supervision over staff engaged in maintenance and repair activities. Salary $53,531.42 - $69,181.61 per year ($25.740 - $33.261 per hour) DOQ

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Public Health Nurse Intern/Public Health Nurse in the Health and Human Services Department. This position provides the full range of public health nursing services including teaching, health assessment, and counseling services in homes, clinics, schools and community centers in connection with the prevention and control of diseases and adverse health conditions. Public Health Nurses are assigned to specific programs such as Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health, California Children’s Services, Child Health and Disability Prevention, Foster Care and communicable disease control. Performs related work as assigned.

Public Health Nurse Intern: is a recruiting and training level class established to qualify candidates for duties as a PHN in Yuba County Health & Human Services Department. Under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas while pursuing a Public Health Nurse Certification. Upon satisfactory completion of the PHN Certification, the PHN Intern are eligible for promotion to the level of PHN. Incumbents who do not successfully complete the PHN certification as prescribed herein may be released from employment.

Public Health Nurse: is the entry level in this class series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas. As experience is gained, assignments become more complex and are performed under more general supervision.
