Summary Description

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor/coordinator, the Senior Recreation Leader is responsible for implementing programs at a given site, including administering program curriculum and supervising program staff.  This is an at-will, intermittent, part-time, hourly wage position without City-paid benefits.  Work a flexible work schedule, which may include evening, weekdays, weekends and holidays.

Representative Duties

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices:

• Implement all daily activities of a given program, including administration of program curriculum, leading program activities, monitoring and enforcing program rules and regulations, maintaining a safe environment and collecting any necessary paperwork.
• Instruct program participants in rules, model appropriate behavior, monitor strict adherence to program guidelines and enforce rules.
•      Exercise sound judgment in addressing behavior problems.
•      Responsible for appropriate use, maintenance and storage of all program supplies and equipment.
•      Establish and maintain a respectful and courteous working relationship with participants, volunteers, staff and those contacted in the course of work.
•      Exhibit enthusiasm and support for the program.
•      Assist with training and directing staff and volunteers to ensure program activities are accomplished.
•      Provide information and open communication with appropriate individuals.
•      Perform other program-related duties as assigned.

Under the direction of the Recreation and Community Engagement Department, the position is responsible for Reception/Cashier duties at City Hall and assisting with City events.

This entry-level classification requires limited time on the job before an incumbent can function at the full journey level. When assigned to the front desk at City Hall, one will perform various clerical tasks, including receptionist duties, basic cashier, customer service, program registration, record keeping, data entry, filing, and support of special events or projects.

When assigned the task of Recreation Assistant, will perform a variety of functions to support the Recreation Department's programs, including working directly with youth participants, assisting with planning activities, and providing customer service. Responsibilities may include clerical duties like program registration, record keeping, data entry, filing, and support of Department special events.

This position is not responsible for the direct supervision of other Department staff but may provide direction and assist other staff/volunteers during a program and/or activity.

The City of San José is recruiting for a Business Automation and Development Services Supervising Applications Analyst (SAA) in the Business Automation and Development Services Division of the Information Technology Department. The position requires a highly motivated and self-driven individual to lead a team responsible for the City's Permitting and Compliance System (Granicus GovService Amanda platform), Public Web Portal, Records Management System, Electronic Plan Review System (ProjectDox from Avolve), Business Intelligence System, Queue Management System, and Digital Inspection System. The position will oversee new technology implementations, enhancements, integrations, reports, and application upgrades for all Development Services systems. This position requires strong technical hands-on experience and leadership skills, as well as the ability to take initiative and direct others in an ever-changing business and technical environment.

The ideal candidate will have solid information management experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, strong management skills, strong collaboration skills, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and issues. A team leader, team player, and positive attitude are essential to this position.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Understanding of Planning, Building, and Code Enforcement (PBCE) business processes inside a large municipality.
• Planning, organizing, scheduling, and coordinating work related to Development Services applications and systems, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
• Providing advanced technical leadership to integrate complex existing or new information system technologies.
• Maintaining Development Services Technologies and technical documentation to high standards to support planning, building, code enforcement, fire prevention, and related services.
• Hiring, selecting, training, directing work assignments, and evaluating staff performance to accomplish tasks and established objectives.
• Acting as a technical expert, analyzing complex development services business needs, recommending technological solutions, and managing implementation of complex projects with other City departments, project teams, and agencies.
• Researching complex commercial products and technology solutions and participating in the development of project scoping documents, performing vendor management and contract management duties, and preparing and evaluating Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
• Overseeing the creation and deployment of Power BI reports, Yellowfin reports, and Crystal Reports.
• Participating in all aspects of the software development cycle: Requirement Development, Planning, Design, Code, Test, Implementation, and Integration.

Salary Information:The final candidate's qualifications and experience shall determine the actual salary. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Supervising Applications Analyst (SAA) classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

The Supervising Applications Analyst (SAA) classification is represented by the City Association of Management Personnel (CAMP) . Education: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field.

Experience: five (5) years of increasingly responsible professional/ level experience. in computer applications, systems, networks, or telecommunications work, of which at least two (2) years include the responsibility for the development, implementation, and maintenance of major communications or computer systems.

Acceptable Substitution

• Additional years of increasingly responsible directly related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Completion of a Master's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required two (2) years of experience include the responsibility for the development, implementation, and maintenance of major communications or computer systems.

The City of San José is hiring an Oracle Planning and Budgeting Cloud Services (PBCS) Technical Lead (Enterprise Supervising Technology Analyst) to provide technical support for Oracle PBCS which is used to prepare the City's Capital, Operating, and Revenue Budgets. The PBCS Technical Lead will also support the three custom budget applications: Fees and Charges, Ordinance Tracking, and Budget to Finance ERP Interface and the Budget Office (BO). The BO is responsible for developing and managing the City's operating and capital budgets and service fees and charges. This position requires strong technical hands-on experience and leadership skills, as well as the ability to take initiative and lead others. We are seeking an individual who is willing to adapt to an ever-changing environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical and functional background supporting Oracle PBCS and/or Oracle Hyperion Planning, and multi-dimensional databases with strong analytical skills. In addition, development experience using .NET Framework, Java, or JavaScript to effectively manage and support custom-developed applications is essential. Expertise should cover the entire system implementation lifecycle including gathering business requirements, creating functional and technical designs, application development, and administration.
Key duties include but are not limited to:

• Collaborating with the Budget Office to understand their Oracle PBCS requirements.
• Translating business requirements into technical solution designs.
• Developing new calculations and performance-tuning existing rules.
• Creating and updating existing Financial Reports and Management reports. Creating Smart View ad-hoc sheets for troubleshooting, data analysis, and reporting.

This is an exciting opportunity under the Technical Infrastructure Division in the Information Technology Department (ITD). The Technical Infrastructure Division designs and engineers solutions that address and meet the City's strategies built around Smart City initiatives, such as Digital Inclusion and Digital Equity, Public Wi-Fi expansion for Economic Development, Endpoint Modernization and virtualization, Multi-cloud frameworks, and digital analytics to support data-driven decisions. The Technical Infrastructure Division includes citywide wired and wireless network infrastructure, core server infrastructure, public and private cloud infrastructure, and hyper-converged infrastructure. The city seeks motivated engineering-level candidates who are energized by opportunities to maximize their potential by learning new technologies, designing and implementing solutions, and fulfilling smart city initiatives.

Please note that the Enterprise Network Infrastructure Engineer (Enterprise Information Technology Engineer I/II) position is currently on a hybrid telework schedule - working remotely and onsite is subject to change.

Salary Information: The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidate's qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Enterprise Information Technology Engineer (EITE) I/II shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.

Salary Range including the 5% non-pensionable increase:

• Enterprise Information Technology Engineer I: $121,583.28 - $147,944.16 annually
• Enterprise Information Technology Engineer II: $128,812.32 - $156,942.24 annually

The EITE I/II classifications are represented by the Municipal Employees' Federation (MEF) bargaining unit.
