The Sheriff’s Activities League Executive Director plans, coordinates, recommends, develops, implements and evaluates goals, objectives, policies and procedures related to youth programs; provides leadership and coordination to community groups, public and private agencies, advisory boards and volunteers in planning and implementing programs; provides highly complex staff support to senior level management within assigned area of specialization. The Executive Director receives general direction from the assigned senior level manager and will exercise direct and indirect supervision over managerial, professional, technical and clerical staff, including consultants, and contract service providers.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess any combination of the following education and experience:

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, management or a related field; or
• A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, management, child development, or a related field.
• Four to six years of progressively responsible administration or management experience in a Police/Sheriff Activities League or similar non-profit community service organization which includes experience working with a volunteer board.

As the Executive Director, your responsibilities will include:

• Planning, directing, monitoring, and evaluating the effectiveness of comprehensive county-wide services and programs, including needs assessment, program design and planning, implementation, evaluation, and regulatory enforcement.

DEFINITION

Under the supervision of the Plant and Equipment Maintenance Manager, does skilled mechanical work in repairing and installing equipment in the Water and Wastewater systems; and performs other duties as assigned.

Under general supervision, the Plant Operator II during an assigned shift is responsible for operation of the wastewater treatment plant and for maintaining a variety of machinery and equipment.

Job Description

This position performs preventive, routine and emergency maintenance and repair of a variety of heavy and light industrial and marine equipment, related systems and components. The incumbent will operate precision equipment and respond to trouble calls associated with the Port's ferry terminal systems, boats, sewer pumps and other Port related equipment. Essential functions of the class include:

Nature of work
Involves physical effort in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment; the ability to lift heavy objects; exposure to working conditions where minor abrasions, bruises, and burns may occur; occasional uncomfortable work inside closed and dirty spaces; exposure to potential uncomfortable weather conditions and traffic conditions; and requires physical stamina to stand, stoop, bend and climb ladders while working in confined spaces, entryways and tight crawl spaces.  Some positions may also require the ability to operate both automatic and manual automobile transmission as needed. 3. Possession at time of hire a Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certificate issued by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The selection process will include evaluation of applications in relation to minimum requirements. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has determined that Class 7334 Stationary Engineer is a “safety-sensitive” position, under regulations issued by the Federal Transit Administration (49 CFR Part 655). Federal law requires that all transit employees who perform safety-sensitive functions be subject to random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty and follow-up drug and alcohol testing. All applicants for Safety-Sensitive positions shall undergo urine drug testing prior to employment and within 90 days prior to performing Safety-Sensitive functions for the first time. Receipt by the SFMTA of a negative test result is required prior to the employee being placed on the payroll. San Mateo County Health's Aging and Adult Services Division is seeking qualified individuals for the position of In-Home Supportive Services Social Worker II/III. Social Workers provide a wide variety of welfare services in such areas as information and referral, protective services, out-of-home services, health related services, chore services, and other welfare services within the Health and the Human Services Agency.
 
The current vacancy is in the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program that provides in-home care for persons who cannot safely remain in their own home without such assistance. The recipients of IHSS are aged, blind and/or disabled and eligible for Medi-Cal. Disabled and/or blind minor children may also be eligible for IHSS. The Social Worker will make a home visit to determine eligibility for the program and to conduct an assessment to determine a range of service hours for particular tasks. The IHSS recipient or guardian is the IHSS employer and is responsible for hiring and supervising a provider for the care they receive.  The Social Worker will travel throughout the County to conduct home visits, attend meetings and perform other duties of the position.  The Social Worker will work in the San Mateo, CA Aging and Adult Services Office.
 
This IHSS Social Worker will conduct intake and/or on-going activities for IHSS recipients. Some of those activities include:
 

• Conduct initial IHSS assessments using a detailed State assessment tool.
• Complete necessary documents, paperwork, and work within different information technology systems.
• Conduct annual reassessments.
• Educate, support, and perform administrative duties for IHSS recipients and care providers to understand/comply with program regulations.
• Provide education, outreach, and community resources information.
• Participate in quality improvement efforts.
• Collaborate with quality assurance and program integrity to ensure proper adherence to regulations.
• Prepare for and attend Fair Hearings.
• Engage in interdisciplinary team meetings or other activities to support San Mateo County's vision for integrated services.
• Maintain oversight of case management needs for a caseload focused on serving IHSS recipients who are minors.
• Collaborate and facilitate service with care providers and other partner agencies.

SALARY
Social Worker II:   $6,564.13 - $8,205.60/month
Social Worker III:  $7,741.07 - $9,673.73/month

Social Workers provide highly skilled, intensive casework services to individuals and their families and provide casework consultation within the department and to outside agencies.  Incumbents of positions at this level work with minimal supervision and are expected to have acquired the high degree of assessment skills required to perform care coordination and referral tasks in complex casework areas. Lead supervisory responsibilities may be assigned as circumstances dictate.

NOTE:  The list created from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies, including classified, unclassified, term, full-time, part-time, temporary and extra help vacancies. Unclassified positions are at-will and not covered by the San Mateo County Civil Service Rules.  Although the current Aging and Adult Services position is in IHSS, this list may also be used to fill positions in other programs such as Adult Protective Services (APS), Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP) and Linkages; as well as positions in the San Mateo Medical Center and Human Services Agency.

 

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:  California class C driver license or equivalent.

Education:
Social Worker II: Satisfactory completion of 30 semester units of social welfare and/or appropriate behavioral science courses.

Social Worker III: Satisfactory completion of 36 semester units of social welfare and/or appropriate behavioral science courses.

Experience: 
Social Worker II: Two years experience performing duties comparable to those of a Social Worker I or higher in San Mateo County. Substitution: Possession of a Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work.

Social Worker III:  Three years experience performing duties comparable to those of a Social Worker II or higher in San Mateo County.  Substitution: Possession of a Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work and two years experience performing duties comparable to those of a Social Worker II or higher in San Mateo County.
