Job Description

This position performs preventive, routine and emergency maintenance and repair of a variety of heavy and light industrial and marine equipment, related systems and components. The incumbent will operate precision equipment and respond to trouble calls associated with the Port's ferry terminal systems, boats, sewer pumps and other Port related equipment. The nature of this work requires sustained physical effort frequently under adverse weather conditions and/or working in confined spaces. The incumbent may be required to work alternative shifts in order to do tide-dependent work.

Nature of Work: Some positions may involve exposure to adverse physical and working condition and lifting objects weighing in excess of 70 pounds. Incumbents will be required to work varying hours and/or shifts, including weekends, evening and holidays in a 24 hour/7 days-a week operation.

Salary Information
The salary range for Maintenance Worker II is $64,604.80- $78,582.40.
Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.The Department of Public Works is seeking to fill a Maintenance Worker I position in the HVAC Shop located at the Central Service Yard within the Facilities Management Division. The Maintenance Worker I will support the basic preventative maintenance of the air conditioning work group. This position reports directly to the Air Conditioning Supervisor for various daily assignments. Working under immediate supervision and working with HVAC Staff and/or independently in mechanical rooms and on rooftops would be a regular occurrence.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

• Performs preventive maintenance functions on Exhaust Fans, HVAC Package units and Air Handlers.
• Clean HVAC Cooling Towers and Mechanical Rooms.
• Install V-belts on HVAC Equipment.
• Uses general carpentry, mechanical and hand tools such as power saws, hand saws, drills, pliers, wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, ladders and other tools and equipment.
• Installs air filters in various types of air conditioning equipment.
• Cleans aluminum finned condenser and evaporator coils.
• Performs minor semi-skilled carpentry and plumbing repair work.
• Maintains database records of their daily work with the Departments inventory management system.

This position may require working some weekends and/or holidays. Ability to perform the essential functions of this position will be determined by a post-offer medical examination conducted by City of San Jose Employee Health Services.

The HVAC SHOP maintains all City-Wide Facilities, including Police Buildings. The San Jose Police Department requires all civilians working at their facilities pass a background check and obtain a Civilian Police Badge. The City of Berkeley is now accepting applications for the position of Health Services Program Specialist! In this role, you will plan and manage a specialized health program. Program-planning activities will include development of procedures for operation and evaluation and fiscal and budgetary administration. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a college or university with major course work in public health, health or social-services related field, or health-related public policy, and two years of experience as a health/social services professional.

THE POSITION

As part of the Parks and Community Services Department, the intern will broaden their knowledge of the operations involved in coordinating City-provided programs, facilities, and events. DEFINITION

Perform a wide range of administrative and office support activities for the Recreation, Arts and Community Services Department, its Director and/or managers and supervisors to facilitate the efficient operation of the organization.  The incumbent should be organized, detail oriented, accurate and adept with various computer software.  Perform routine correspondence, field public inquiries, maintain departmental files consistent with the Town’s records retention policy; schedule appointments and meetings, procure supplies, assist with data entry and provide support related to the review, production, and distribution of staff reports.

Knowledge of:

DEFINITION

Develop, organize, and implement delivery of recreation and social services to the citizens of Danville in accordance with program objectives set forth by the Recreation, Arts and Community Services Department. Perform professional duties in Community Centers, Village Theatre and Art Gallery, and/or Teen Centers, as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from a Program Supervisor.  Exercises supervision over Program Assistants and other program personnel, as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Program Coordinator will be responsible for implementing a variety of recreational, social and educational programs and services for youth, ages preschool through high school.  Work closely with the Town's Police Services Department, School District, community and human services agencies.  Motivate and facilitate various youth groups.

Specific to Sports & Fitness and Facility Management

Responsible for the development and implementation of sports programming, including aquatics, and organizing a variety of recreational sports leagues for youth and adults.  Work closely with the school district.  Supervises seasonal Aquatics program to include staff training and in-services. Requires a basic understanding of sports terminology, concepts, and rules. Responsible for sports & fitness fee classes offered in the Danville Activity Guide.  Support facility management through facility rentals.

QUALIFICATIONS

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)

Possession of a valid California State Driver's License, or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire. First Aid and CPR certification is required but may be obtained during probationary period.

THE POSITION

Tri-City is currently hiring to fill one full-time vacancy for the position of Peer Support Specialist I/II (PSS) within the Adult Outpatient (AOP) Department. The PSS position provides peer to peer support services in the office and/or in the field including, but not limited to outreach, support, encouragement, guidance, advocacy, and referrals to external resources and services for clients and their families; builds rapport with clients and their families through sharing stories of lived experience and recovery.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Encourages and supports clients to fully engage in services; provides outreach and assists clients in addressing and overcoming barriers to treatment.

• Provides resources and referrals to address basic needs and other barriers to wellness and recovery including food, housing, clothing, transportation, and other financial resources.

• Assists clients with setting, implementing, and tracking wellness and recovery goals; develops individual Wellness and Recovery Action Plans (WRAP); models and shares effective coping strategies.

• Assists clients and families to understand behavioral health problems and steps to recovery.

• Provides support and guidance in navigating systems and obtaining additional support services; attends meetings and therapy sessions with clients (as needed); assists with completing applications and forms; and ensures client concerns are address and processes understood.

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships; engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem- solving; and leveraging financial and volunteer resources. 

The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community. With input from local, older adults (age 55 years+) as our guide, the AFS team provides a continuum of supportive services, from health promotion activities to home-based end of life care. AFS has a Senior InfoLine that is answered in 4 languages (Farsi, English, Spanish and Chinese) that is often an entry point.

DefinitionUnder administrative direction from the Human Services Director, plans, organizes and directs a Division of the Human Services Department which provides specialized family services; and serves as a member of the department's management team.

Class Characteristics
This professional management classification in the Human Services Department may be assigned as Youth and Family Services Administrator, Aging and Family Services Administrator or Family Resource Center Administrator. Incumbent follows general guidelines or professional and administrative standards in accomplishing assignments; it is characterized by the responsibility to develop and implement mental and physical health and other social services that support self-sufficiency, strengthen families, help children achieve their optimal development, and help older adults remain independent and engaged in the community for as long as possible. Supervision for the Family Resource Center Administrator is jointly provided by the Human Services Director and leadership team of the Family Resource Center. Review of work is occasional or on a problem basis with incumbents presenting alternative courses for policy decisions. Routine and unusual problems are handled within the context of general plans, broad policies, budgetary limitations and professional standards. Successful performance is measured by total results. This classification is distinguished from Human Services Director by the latter's responsibility to plan, organize and direct the work of the Human Services Department, and from Clinical Supervisor by the latter's responsibility to supervise counseling or social work staff, to monitor the implementation of professional standards, and to provide training and direction to professional staff and interns. • Establishes and maintains a continuum of programs and services for older adults:
o Services for Well Elderly including: Oversees operations at the Multi-Service Senior Center(s); develops and implements operational policies and procedures; identifies program needs and develops and oversees implementation of a variety of programs and services targeted to the needs of older adults; reviews existing programs for immediacy and applicability, directing revision as appropriate; coordinates programs with other agencies; provides effective problem assessment and client complaint response.
o Services for Frail Elderly including: Develops and implements operational policies and procedures for service coordination among the Friendly Visitor, Companion for Life, Senior Peer Counseling, Para transit, and other City programs; monitors and evaluates program performance; reviews existing programs for immediacy and applicability, directing revision as appropriate; coordinates programs with other agencies; provides effective problem assessment and client complaint response.
