We are seeking a positive and motivated individual to perform the technical functions in support of the City’s engineering and development construction projects.  The successful candidate should be highly organized, pay great attention to detail, and be flexible and adaptable in a work environment with constantly changing priorities.  The successful candidate will be a team player and provide the highest quality of customer service to internal and external customers.

Primary responsibilities:

• Performs calculations and technical plan checks of public works and utility projects
• Assists in performing field-related surveys and utility inspections for private and public construction
• Assists in preparing oftentimes extensive research of engineering plans for public and private construction plans
• Assists in construction drawing plan review and participates in post-construction inspections in the field
• Participates in the filing and retrieval of engineering maps, documents, and records as requested by the public and City personnel
• Provides exceptional customer service at the public counter, via email, and on the phone
• Prepares permits and work orders for water and wastewater connections and installations, and coordinates work with City field crews
• Responds to inquiries from consultants, contractors, and the public regarding City engineering requirements

The Office of the City Manager provides strategic leadership that supports the Mayor and City Council in making public policy decisions and ensures the organization delivers cost-effective services that meet the needs of our community with the highest standards of quality and customer service. The City Manager's Office also serves to guide fiscal and change management, the building and development of our workforce, and the development of long-term, data-driven strategies to invest in the City's future. The City Manager is supported by an Assistant City Manager and five Deputy City Manager positions.
The City Council has identified the following four focus areas, while the City Manager has directed an additional five focus areas aimed at ensuring organizational health and improving service delivery to the community:

Reducing Unsheltered Homelessness. Implement comprehensive strategies and supportive services to decrease the number of individuals experiencing homelessness and improve quality of life. Key programs include homelessness prevention, outreach, case management, interim housing construction and operations, and homelessness concerns.

Cleaning Up Our Neighborhoods. Clean and maintain the City's shared spaces and resources through proactive and community-driven blight reduction, beautification, and code enforcement services. Key programs include illegal dumping, anti-graffiti, encampment trash services, community code enforcement, and SJ311.

Attracting Investment in Jobs and Housing. Catalyze the City's growth to encourage a strong economy, robust housing, healthy neighborhoods, and vibrant downtown. Key programs include planning and permitting, development services, business outreach and assistance, and business district management.

City Manager Foundational Strategic Support Focus Areas

Delivering Excellent Customer Service. Ensure reliable, empathetic, and solutions-oriented customer service to meet the needs and expectations of customers as they access and navigate City services. Key programs include citywide Customer Relationship Management system implementation, customer service network, and mandatory customer service training.

Closing Racial Inequities. Implement policies and programs to eliminate racial disparities and foster an inclusive, equitable community for all people to thrive. Key programs include budgeting for equity, racial equity action plans, and mandatory racial equity training.

Structurally Balancing the General Fund. Ensure long-term financial stability by aligning revenues and expenditures to sustainably balance the City's budget on an ongoing basis consistent with City Council and community priorities.

Driving Organizational Performance. Deliver equitable community outcomes, effective program performance, and efficient operations through continuous improvement, transparency, and accountability. Key programs include City Service Area performance updates, Focus Area dashboards, and community indicator disaggregation.

Key programs include hiring and retention, recruitment process modernization, and workforce learning and development.The Office of the City Manager is currently seeking to fill a full-time Deputy City Manager position.

The annual salary range for this position is up to $342,687. In addition to the abovementioned compensation, this position receives an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. The final candidate's qualifications and experience will determine the actual salary.

The position of Deputy City Manager serves as a key advisor to the City Manager regarding matters related to the administration of the City and assists in the formulation and execution of complex policies and programs to fulfill the goals and objectives of the organization. The position will be responsible for a portfolio of departments related to one or more City Service Areas to assist the City Manager in coordinating, engaging, and monitoring departments, carrying out City Council policy direction, and ensuring service delivery goals. The position will also be the executive sponsor for one or more of the City's focus areas, ensuring appropriate attention and coordination to make significant accomplishments toward these priorities. The position will represent the City Manager in various intergovernmental and community activities and meetings, including coordinating the work of one or more standing City Council Committees to provide the City Council with information and recommendations for matters under consideration.

While candidates may be generalists, the City Manager's Office is seeking an experienced public administrator who would strengthen its expertise and bandwidth in the areas of public safety (i.e., fire and police) and strategic support (e.g., human resources, information technology, etc) services, cross-agency and interdepartmental collaboration, as well as delivery and alignment of policies and programs that have shared service delivery methods.

Regulatory Programs Division: Under general direction from the Regulatory Programs Division Manager, the Senior Environmental Engineer – Wastewater Treatment will focus on regulator support to the Water Pollution Control Plant for NPDES discharge requirements and for air, safety, and hazardous materials compliance programs for the Plant.

* Water Pollution Control Plant Division: Under general direction from the Water Pollution Control Plant Division Manager, the Senior Environmental Engineer – Wastewater Treatment will provide engineering services to support process control and coordinate CIP activities at the Plant.

* Water and Sewer Division: Under general direction from the Water and Sewer System Division Manager, the Senior Environmental Engineer – Civil Utilities provides engineering services for the City’s water system, sanitary sewer collection system, and stormwater collection systems including development review and system CIP.

*These are new positions included in the recommended budget for FY 2024-25, which will be considered by the Sunnyvale City Council on June 18, 2024.

The city of Santa Clara Water & Sewer Utilities serves the City of Santa Clara, California. Our mission includes providing customers with a dependable supply of safe, potable water, environmentally sound wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal, as well as recycled water for approved uses. The Position: 

The City of Santa Clara Water and Sewer department has an opportunity for a position of As Needed Engineering Aide. Job responsibilities include, prepares scaled and dimensioned plans based on sketches prepared by engineering personnel, maintains records of as-builts and updates existing Utility maps and records utilizing ESRI-based GIS applications, Maintains master map files, including such records of block maps, sewer and water infrastructure maps, and other maps, Performs computing and drafting operations in AutoCAD, involved in checking drawings of utility facilities, perform other duties as assigned.

As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

Under general supervision, a Police Officer is responsible for the performance of law enforcement duties to protect life and property in accordance with applicable laws, to carry out special assignments as necessary, and other related duties as assigned. Out-of-State Candidates:

The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) will conduct an evaluation of all out-of-state training. POST is the sole authority on applicable training and determines whether the candidate must attend an abbreviated academy, or a regular police academy. If an academy is required, the candidate will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee. Upon completion of the academy, promotion will be made to Police Officer.

The San José Fire Department's (SJFD) core mission is to serve the community by protecting life, property, and the environment through prevention and response. This is the trainee level class in the Firefighter series, responsible for becoming proficient in the understanding of lifesaving and firefighting methods within the SJFD. Through a specific program comprised of general and specialized education, focused training including extensive hands-on experience, Firefighter Recruits will learn diverse tasks, policies, procedures and standards within the SJFD. Incumbents will learn techniques in emergency medical services, rescue work, firefighting and other emergency services. Duties may involve considerable physical exertion and potential risk to health and safety. Work is rigidly structured, highly supervised, and incumbents are continuously evaluated and receive feedback regularly. The Public Works Department is recruiting to fill an Associate Engineering position in the City Facilities Architectural Services (CFAS) division, MEP Section. CFAS division MEP section is responsible for the project management and delivery of capital projects for buildings, parks, libraries, public safety facilities and various cultural facilities.

The ideal candidate will possess a high level of professionalism, excellent customer service skills, and a supreme work ethic. These positions require excellent judgment, initiative, perseverance, integrity, organizational skills, flexibility and written and verbal communications skills.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

Additional responsibilities specific to the CFAS MEP Section positions:

Associate Engineer (Mechanical - MEP section):

• Able to review and comment on the various mechanical and/or plumbing engineering designs provided by the City's consultants.
• Able to provide mechanical and/or plumbing engineering analysis, calculations, and designs conforming to the California Mechanical and/or Plumbing Code requirements and other local and state standards.
• Able to act as the project manager for various City projects that involve HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Able to provide project scoping and estimate construction costs for budget preparation for projects involving the upgrade/replacement of chillers, cooling towers, heat pumps, air-handling units, circulation pumps, ventilation equipment, plumbing equipment, piping/valves, etc.

Associate Engineer (Electrical - MEP section):

• Able to review and comment on the various electrical engineering designs provided by the City's consultants.
• Able to provide electrical engineering analysis, calculations, and designs conforming to the California Electrical Code requirements and other local and state standards.
• Able to act as the project manager for various City projects that involve electrical systems.
• Able to provide project scoping and estimate construction costs for budget preparation for projects involving building power, lighting, generators, UPS, fire alarm systems, microgrids, EV chargers, etc.

The City of Saratoga is currently recruiting to fill a full-time Accounting Technician position within the Administrative Services Department. The incumbent will report to the Finance Manager.

The Accounting Technician, under general supervision, performs journey-level technical and administrative account support duties associated with preparing, maintaining, and processing accounts receivable and accounts payable records and transactions. The incumbent’s duties include reconciling accounts and ledgers, preparing financial reports, batch runs and wire transfers, tracking and maintaining manual and computerized accounting and financial records, establishing and updating vendor records, and performing related duties as assigned. The incumbent will be assigned to the Accounts Payable and Program Procurement Support responsibilities.
