ABOUT THE POSITION

Under the general direction, the Parking Enforcement Officer performs a variety of law enforcement support duties, with the majority of responsibilities involving enforcement of parking regulations. The PEO performs technical field and office work to enforce appropriate codes, laws, and regulations and to execute related programs pertaining to on-street and off-street public parking within the City of Mill Valley.

Examples of Essential Duties (include but are not limited to):

• Patrol assigned routes on foot and/or driving a parking enforcement vehicle.
• Enforce parking laws, codes, and regulations.
• Identify vehicles in violation of parking laws, codes, and/or regulations, and issue appropriate citations or remedies.
• Collect coins deposited in meters.
• Prepare statistical reports on activities, as requested.
• Minor repair and maintenance of parking meters.

Under direction, incumbents carry out the major and more complex land use projects in all sections of the Division. Incumbents provide direction to other professional staff on projects and operate with independence within the parameters of legislative and divisional policy.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Gather, compile, and analyze statistical data, and study trends in land use, demographics, and environmental impacts.

Under supervision, the Community Service Officer (CSO) performs a wide range of field and office support duties in the patrol and support services divisions within the Marysville Police Department.

This is a specialized, full-time, non-sworn classification. The Community Service Officer has no powers of arrest.

Definition: 
To perform varied and routine non-sworn duties with emphasis on parking enforcement and vehicle abatement program.

Examples of Duties:

- A technology certificate from an accredited college or trade school in information technology, computer applications, web technologies, computer information systems, application development database design, programming, technology project management, or related field and five years of experience in private-sector or public-sector positions in information technology, including systems analysis work and development, system integration, or project management.
 

- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a degree in computer science or a related field, and two years of progressively responsible experience comparable to that of an Information Technology Analyst I in the City of Mountain View. Some assignments may require specialized systems experience such as HTML, CSS, Javascript and XML, PHP, and structured query language (SQL).

Highly Desirable:  

• Possession of Advanced Microsoft, VMWare Certified Professional (VSP), CCNP and/or LINUX certifications.

The City of Sebastopol is seeking a dynamic, professional leader who is a collaborative problem-solver to serve as the next Planning Director. A Dispatcher I is a civilian employee of the Police Department who performs a variety of tasks in the Department’s Support Services Division. The Dispatcher I receives incoming calls for police assistance and response; acts as a primary Dispatcher when appropriate; performs a variety of general support duties related to police communications; completes a wide variety of general clerical duties.

Examples of Duties:

The Dispatcher I duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Answer emergency and non-emergency police related phone calls, help prioritize requests for service based upon available resources, receive radio requests and handle accordingly, type, process and file a wide variety of reports and materials including memos, letters, complaints, declarations, warrants, citations, crime and traffic reports.  Assists Department personnel and the public in person and by phone performing record checks, collecting fees and mailing requested reports to outside agencies in accordance with established regulations.   A Dispatcher I may be assigned to work various hours, shifts, holidays, weekends and overtime.

Typical Qualifications:

A combination of education and work experience including 2-3 years of general office work involving typing of varied materials, public contact, general filing and basic record keeping; type at least 40 wpm net.  Knowledge of business English, spelling; modern office practices and procedures; record keeping. Ability to learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routine; write English legibly; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; type and learn the operation of other standard office equipment; a willingness to work varying shifts; and to learn radio dispatching skills.
