The Department

The Human Resources Department currently has an opening for the position of Senior Human Resources Analyst. This position has responsibility for administering the City’s Employee Benefit Programs (including Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, Flexible Spending Accounts, Deferred Compensation and CalPERS retirement plans, Retiree Health Savings Accounts (RHSA), Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Bilingual Program, Life and Basic AD&D, and Voluntary Supplemental Life.); overseeing open enrollment processes; analyzing benefit plans for cost effectiveness and optimization; ensuring compliance with legal mandates and policies; writing benefit policies; serving as liaison between brokers, providers, and the City; educating employees regarding benefits; managing employee leaves; and other Human Resources duties as assigned. In addition, the position also assists in the administration of the Human Resources Department and provides technical assistance on complex and sensitive issues. This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of Human Resources.

The Position

 

The Senior Human Resources Analyst will oversee employee benefits programs, including but not limited to:  health and dental programs, wellness programs, leaves administration, retirement plans, etc.  This position will work with benefits program vendors, including RFPs, contract development and administration etc.  Some additional duties may also include the following:

• Participate in the development and implementation of new or revised human resources programs, systems, procedures, and methods of operation.
• Compile and analyze data and make recommendations regarding human resources programs and systems
• Assist in the development and implementation of related policies
• Participate in the preparation and administration of assigned budgets; maintain and monitor appropriate budgeting and expenditure controls.
• Research, collect, compile, and analyze information from various sources on a variety of specialized human resources topics; prepare comprehensive technical records, reports, and summaries to present and interpret data, identify alternatives, and make and justify recommendations.
• Oversee, coordinate, and monitor human resources information systems, procedures, and processes including accounts payables.
• Monitor legislation and analyze proposed legislation to determine impact on human resources operations and programs.
• Serve as a liaison with employees, public and private organizations, community groups, and other organizations; provide information and assistance regarding human resources programs and services; receive and respond to complaints and questions relating to human resources; review problems and recommend corrective actions.
• Attend meetings as a representative for the Human Resources Department; prepare, administer, and monitor programs.

About the role:

This is the highest level classification in the management analyst series. The incumbent will act as a lead; be recognized as a technical specialist of the various technology systems for Human Resources functions and will be relied upon to provide expert consultation to meet user needs. The incumbent will act as a project manager over some aspects of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)/Oracle and may act as a lead over some Payroll functions. This position will perform a variety of responsible law enforcement and crime prevention work, including patrolling assigned areas, answering calls and complaints, investigating crimes, serving civil papers, and providing court room security; enforce all federal and state laws and local ordinances related to public safety and welfare.

JOB DUTIES

• Performs routine patrol duties, including but not limited to patrolling assigned areas of the County; responding to emergency calls and/or public calls for assistance; investigating disturbances, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, vehicle accidents and other crimes; checking buildings for physical security, etc.

• Administers first aid in emergency situations.

• Issues traffic citations.

• Serves warrants, subpoenas and civil documents.

• Apprehends and arrests suspects and violent persons; transports prisoners; seizes property and/or criminal evidence; interrogates suspects, witnesses and complainants; gathers and preserves evidence.

• Assists with County search and rescue operations.

• Prepares various reports on investigations, including arrest and unusual incidents observed.

• Assists with criminal investigations as required.

• Works with other law enforcement agencies in matters related to the investigation of crimes and apprehension of offenders.

• May serve as special duty officer as assigned, including responsibilities such as serving on the narcotics task force, serving as Deputy Coroner, providing court security, serving as school resource officer, serving as K-9 handler, serving on gang task force, etc.

• Participates in other special projects and programs as assigned.

• Performs duties related to crime prevention and community relations.

The City of Sunnyvale is recruiting for the position of Public Safety Records Specialist I for the Department of Public Safety. THE DEPARTMENT
The Burlingame Police Department is a municipal, full service, community oriented department.  We offer a variety of investigative, preventative, and community policing programs to both protect and serve a community that spans five square miles and is home to more than 28,000 residents.

The Burlingame Police Department is divided into two divisions: Operations and Administration.  The force currently consists of 40 police officers, made up of the Chief of Police, 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants, 6 Corporals, 2 Inspectors, and 22 Patrol Officers.

POSITION
Burlingame Police Officers are responsible for preventing crime, arresting law violators, directing traffic, etc.  In that capacity, officers may also serve in special assignments such as K-9, detective, SWAT, hostage teams, FTO, and motorcycle patrol.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Patrol various areas within the City by driving a police vehicle or by walking to prevent criminal activity, to enforce various laws, regulations, and codes.

Candidates must be a US Citizen, at least 21 years of age on date of appointment, a US high school graduate (or GED equivalent), have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.  Must be able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions, read, comprehend, write, and speak English effectively.

Entry Level - Proof of completing the POST Written Test and Physical Agility Test with a passing score.

Lateral Police Officer - To be considered for a lateral Police Officer appointment, candidates must have prior experience as a sworn law enforcement officer within the past twelve (12) months, including the completion of the field training program and probation period with a law enforcement agency.

POSITION

To perform a variety of routine, non-hazardous and non-sworn law enforcement office and field work.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Woodland Police Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate will have experience working in a law enforcement agency and/or have substantial professional experience with public interactions. Process court ordered registrants.  Collect pertinent data from police reports and input data into computer.  Make presentations in small and large group settings.  Assist in producing monthly, quarterly and yearly crime statistics reports.  Assist in analyzing statistical data to develop crime patterns. Publish understandable crime information for law enforcement staff.  Coordinate facility maintenance activities and repairs.  Develop and maintain facility tracking systems.  Issue required equipment to both sworn and non-sworn personnel.  Order new and replacement equipment as needed.  Regular and consistent attendance.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Administer first aid in emergencies. Work off-duty hours as assigned. Assist in training of less experienced personnel.  Perform related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.  Additional college course work or vocational training is highly desirable.

 

Experience:  Two (2) years of general administrative office work experience or one year of administrative office work in a law enforcement agency. Prefer experience with substantial public interaction.

 

License or Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a valid California driver's license.

The City of Foster City is seeking a Police Sergeant to join our Police Department.  This leadership position is crucial in maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and fostering community relations with our diverse city. 

Under general or direct supervision, the Police Sergeant plans, schedules, assigns, reviews, and supervises the work of officers and non-sworn staff on an assigned shift within the Police Department. Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, supplemented by sixty (60) semester units of college level coursework in criminal justice, criminology, police science or a related field at an accredited institution.

Experience:  Three (3) years of full-time, increasingly responsible, sworn law enforcement experience with a California Law Enforcement Agency which includes lead responsibility. One (1) year of first line supervisor experience is desirable.

Licenses and Certifications:

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License, and a good driving record, to be maintained throughout employment.
• Possession of a Basic Certificate issued by the California State Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.).
• Possession and maintenance of firearms qualification.

Selection Process

The oral boards will focus on Technical Skills and Community Relations, with each panel weighted at 40%. The presentation, based on a topic that will be announced closer to the testing date, will be weighted at 20%.  An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 80% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Police department will make the hiring decision.

Note: Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee that a candidate will be invited to participate in the selection process. The City of Foster City reserves the right, at its discretion, to limit the number of qualified candidates invited to the selection process. 

Application Filing Period: Closes at 5:00pm on the date stated in the job announcement; however, it may close prior to the filing end date if sufficient applications have been received. If sufficient applications have not been received, then the filing period end date may be extended.
