About The Position:

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Deputy Sheriff’s perform a wide variety of patrol officer and related duties required to effectively respond to and resolve the normal scope of peace situations, including the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, report writing, crime prevention and suppression, case preparation and testimony, and providing information and assistance to the public and perform related duties as assigned. The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents may be assigned to either County Jail security or Court security. 

About the Sheriff’s Department :

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

This position is a working level civilian class in law enforcement, performing a variety of non-sworn duties in support of law enforcement activities.  Incumbents may perform civil, code enforcement, and criminal services including a variety of routine to more complex non-sworn law enforcement and crime prevention work including patrolling assigned areas, answering calls for service and complaints, serving civil papers, providing court room security; and enforcing local ordinances related to public safety and welfare.  As a County Services Officer he/she will enforce Division 14 of the Agricultural Code of the State of California and enforce the County ordinance governing the animal and rabies control program, in an effort to maintain public safety and welfare.  This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Enforce Title 8 of the County Code and Division 14 of the California Agricultural Code pertaining to animal control and treatment.
• Prepares various reports and case files on investigations, issues citations and warnings for violations of ordinances; files charges with District Attorney as appropriate; testifies and presents evidence in court.
• Works with other law enforcement agencies in matters related to the investigation of crimes and apprehension of offenders. 
• Process and serve documents involved in civil actions including summons, complaints, claims of plaintiffs and orders; declarations and orders of examinations, Notice of Entries of Judgments, civil and criminal subpoenas, Notice to Vacate Premise and process writs of execution including the preparation of orders for wage garnishment.
• Performs general office work as required, including but not limited to preparing reports, maintaining records and files, and entering computer data.

StopWaste is hiring an Energy Council Program Services Specialist to work on Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) programs. The position will conduct community outreach and engage with stakeholders to make energy upgrades and electrify multifamily and single family buildings in Alameda County and the larger Bay Area. POLICE ASSISTANT

Salary Range: $19.85 to $30.87/hour; temporary part-time, non-benefitted position, DOE

DEFINITION

The Police Assistant is a civilian, non-sworn, uniformed position that is responsible for a variety of customer service-based interactions with the community. Duties include non-hazardous enforcement of municipal parking laws and regulations as well as clerical front counter tasks related to phone and walk-in contacts at the police department.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from the Administrative Assistant. Projects are assigned, and the person usually works with very little supervision. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

• Handle confidential administrative duties at the front desk.
• Answer/forward all incoming phone calls.
• The ability to multi task phones with walk-in traffic
• Perform a variety of research & staff work; prepare reports.
• Maintain records using computers.
• Maintain filing system.
• Coordinate Parking Permits for business employees.
• Receive and respond to complaints and reports of routine parking incidents from the public.
• Respond to public complaint of abandoned vehicles; document and schedule tows for abandoned vehicles; and ensures proper disposition of illegally parked vehicles; patrols city streets and issues citations on vehicles parked in an unlawful manner.
• Assist in organizing and coordinating department events and community outreach programs.
• Manage office supplies and equipment inventory, placing orders as needed.
• Operate computer equipment and two-way radio as related to employment.
• Mark vehicles to detect abuse of timed areas.
• As required testifies in court.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Perform duties within OSHA standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge: 

• Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation.
• Principles and practices of records management.

Ability to:     

• Effectively communicate verbally and through written correspondence.
• Compose correspondence independently from brief instructions.

Licenses:      

California Driver's License, C.L.E.T.S. certification upon hire.
