Salary Range: $18.00 to $28.00/hour; temporary part-time, non-benefitted position, DOE
The Police Assistant is a civilian, non-sworn, uniformed position that is responsible for a variety of customer service-based interactions with the community. Duties include non-hazardous enforcement of municipal parking laws and regulations as well as clerical front counter tasks related to phone and walk-in contacts at the police department.
This is a temporary/Limited Duration position
Positions in the Community Services Officer I/II classification series are funded by the City's General Fund, allocated to the Police Department Budget.

THE POSITION / JOB DUTIES
The Police Public Service Assistant (PSA) III is assigned to the Police Department’s Equipment Room and provides daily support with the customer service and equipment room operations. Examples of job duties include:
· Issues and collects equipment, vehicles, and weapons to and from Police Department staff
· Maintains inventory and accounts for all equipment assigned to the Equipment Room
· Transports and coordinates repair of Police Department vehicles
The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Aquatic Instructors (Swim Instructors) and Lifeguards for our fantastic swim lesson and aquatic programs, to work at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. We are looking for positive, patient, motivated, self-driven individuals that have a passion for working with children and wish to make a difference in a child's life by teaching them lifelong water skills! Swimming experience is desired. Swim Instructor training will be provided once hired.
Under general supervision, a Reserve Police Officer performs a variety of law enforcement and modern crime prevention work; controls traffic flow; patrols an assigned area for the prevention of crime and enforcement of federal, state and local laws and regulations, and arrests violators as necessary; performs investigative work; and other related law enforcement work as required.
