THE POSITION

The current opening is for a full-time position and is under the direction of the Police Records Supervisor. The Police Records Clerk will provide a wide variety of clerical, typing, and computer data entry tasks related to Police records; maintaining accurate Police statistics, records, and files; conducting business and transactions with the public, in person and by telephone; is available for occasional night and/or weekend duty as required, and performing other related work as required.

BASIC EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Responsible for all Police statistical record keeping.
• Perform a variety of data entry, typing, and clerical work related to all phases of the Police operation,  such as preparing forms, ordering department supplies, and making appointments.
• Prepare correspondence and compile information for reports.
• Direct requests to proper agencies and departments.
• Enter, update, and maintain data while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of all information.
• Coordinate service of subpoenas.
• Compile data for Public Records Act requests.
• Approve and prepare reports for the District Attorney.

To perform a variety of skilled and semiskilled horticulture tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of parks, pools, recreation, and cemetery facilities and buildings.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Community Services Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The City of Woodland is looking to fill a Park Maintenance Worker I/II position in the
Community Services Department. The Ideal Candidate for the current vacancy is someone
who has a good understanding of many aspects of the maintenance of facilities, parks, janitorial, and horticulture. This position requires a “team player” with good interpersonal, time
management, and communication skills. The Ideal Candidate must be highly self-motivated,
able to work independently with minimal oversite, demonstrate good judgement, as well as be
organized, flexible, approachable, resourceful, and a positive team contributor on a
consistent basis. This position will also require the selected candidate work weekends,
standby and overtime as necessary.

Park Maintenance Worker I:

This is an entry-level classification in the park maintenance worker series. Positions in this class normally perform a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties. May be required to work any shift, including a regular work-shift that includes weekends and holidays, and routinely participate in a weeklong stand-by shift. Park Maintenance Worker I will usually exercise less independence, discretion and judgment on matters related to work procedures and methods.

Park Maintenance Worker II:

This is the journey level in the park maintenance worker series. This class differs from Parks Maintenance Worker I in that incumbent performs more complex parks maintenance duties, including the requirement to work any shift, weekends, and holidays, to work independently, exercise judgment, and operate the full range of tools and mechanical equipment related to a specific assignment. The incumbent Park Maintenance Worker II may also be expected to assist in the oversight and training of less experienced personnel. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the Park Maintenance I level, or when filled from the outside requires prior work experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

Performing general grounds cleaning, including emptying trash receptacles, mopping, sweeping, and raking City parks, ball field maintenance/set up, and Cemetery as needed. Maintain irrigation, maintain synthetic turf, mow, cultivate, prune, weed, renovate, and fertilize grass, plants, trees, flowers, and shrubs. Operate power mowers, turf groomers, chain saws, rototillers, aerators, hedgers, spreaders, front-end loader, edgers, air compressors, and other equipment. Utilize proper safety precautions related to all performed work, while all safe work procedures i.e., necessary PPE. Drive vehicles and equipment as required. Prepare and maintain athletic fields and related facilities, swimming pools, and cemetery/interment operations.  Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that the failure of such attendance undermines the City’s ability to provide critical services to the employees, department and the public.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS 

Install, maintain and replace playground equipment and fences; assemble tables, benches and bleachers. Applying fertilizers and spraying various herbicides and pesticides in City park and recreation areas. Respond to inquiries from the general public. Install, maintain and repair irrigation systems. Assist in setting up community services and special events. Maintain, repair and replace plumbing systems and fixtures such as light switches, motors, wall receptacles, faucets, drinking fountains, water heaters, water closet, urinals, water regulators and pressure valves, and building maintenance as required. Work cooperatively with others. Meet all Standby Program requirements; work any shift including weekends and holidays. Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Park Maintenance Worker I:

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  Six (6) months of experience in the care and maintenance of landscapes or facilities.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

Park Maintenance Worker II:

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  One (1) year of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Park Maintenance Worker I in the City of Woodland.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a California Driver’s License. It is highly desirable to possess a State of California Qualified Applicator Certificate, Category B.

DEFINITION

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER/COMMUNITY SERVICES OFFICER

The Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO) performs a variety of law enforcement support duties with the majority of responsibilities involving enforcement of parking rules and regulations in an assigned area while driving a parking enforcement scooter or car or walking on foot. Duties include  reporting defective street signs, pavement markings and parking meters; providing information to the public concerning city geography, location of buildings, public transit stations and stops, and city functions and offices, impounding and providing for the storage of vehicles as necessary, responding to low priority city ordinance violations, assisting with simple evidence collection as needed, assisting with report taking as necessary, and performing related work as required to assist the patrol staff.   

The PEO will use a computer to make entries, update and make corrections to information and keep a variety of detailed logs and files, while also using a variety of law enforcement communication equipment.  In addition to issuing warnings and citations, the PEO may testify in court regarding citations issued and other events.  These duties will be performed under general supervision and when assigned, working with other staff. The majority of the workday will be spent on the field (i.e., outside) in various weather conditions.

A typical schedule is four 10-hour days per week including weekends, nights, and holidays.  The PEO is a physically demanding position as stooping, lifting, kneeling and reaching overhead and forward is required daily.

Experience: Two (2) years of storing and maintaining an inventory of materials in a highly controlled environment similar to the property and evidence materials maintained in a police department. Familiarity with a law enforcement or criminal justice environment is desirable.

Education: Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade. Supplemental related training and coursework such as Evidence and Property Function Management is highly desirable. 

Licenses and Certificates: Possession and maintenance of a valid California Class C driver's license. Possession of or ability to obtain an International Association for Property and Evidence (IAPE) training certification within the probationary period.

6. Background  

Candidates under final consideration for employment with the City should expect to undergo an employment background/reference check that may include, but is not limited to: review of Summary Criminal History obtained from the State Department of Justice through Live Scan Fingerprinting, employment history, medical examination, polygraph, confirmation of educational credentials, degrees, and licenses (including driver's license). Some positions, depending on the nature of the work, also require a credit check.

During the background process, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). This is a journey-level class in the Police Records Specialist classification series responsible for maintaining information in specialized departmental databases, preparing and assembling reports, processing payments, and preparing and processing subpoenas, requests for information, and other documents. All activities are performed within specified legal guidelines. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. Central County Fire Department (CCFD) serves the Cities of Burlingame and Millbrae and the Town of Hillsborough. The Department serves a population of 66,045 from six fire stations across a service area of approximately 15 square miles. CCFD is supported by 91 FTEs and a FY2023-24 operating budget of $33.14 million. The Fire Marshal reports to the Deputy Fire Chief and oversees the Prevention and Preparedness Division supported by 7 team members.
 
CCFD is seeking a well-regarded professional in the regulatory community who is an outstanding communicator and relationship builder capable of easily establishing credibility with a wide range of audiences. Three years of experience as a fire inspector or as a company officer performing fire prevention inspections and possession of an AA/AS degree will be considered qualifying. A California Fire Prevention Officer Certificate is required. A Bachelor’s degree is desirable.
 
Salary range $207,085 - $251,713; salary supplemented by highly competitive benefits. Placement within the range will be dependent on qualifications and experience. Closes 11:59 pm on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

As a Moraga Police Officer, you will be required to respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service; enforce laws and ordinances; monitor and control traffic; prevent crime; administer first aid when needed;  make arrests;  serve warrants and subpoenas;  interview victims and witnesses; interrogate suspects; process crime scenes for evidence; process and transport prisoners; investigate crimes and prepare comprehensive written reports; testify in court; present cases for prosecution to the District Attorney’s office; speak before public groups on job related topics and provide other services as needed.

The Moraga Police Department, formed in 1979, has developed an excellent reputation among residents and the law enforcement community. Moraga has consistently maintained one of the lowest crime rates in California by promoting active patrol procedures and crime prevention education. The department has a current authorization for 12 sworn positions, 1 full time civilian Support Services Coordinator, and a part time Police Services Technician. The department is also supported by dedicated reserve officers and police cadets.
