The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Associate Planner! In this role, you will have the opportunity to perform professional planning work in the Land Use Division of the Planning Department or the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department.

In the Land Use Division, the Associate Planner performs a variety of professional activities in support of the City's planning services. This Division administers zoning regulations, reviews development projects and assists the community in its efforts to plan for the City's physical, cultural, environmental, and socio-economic future. If current planning activities are assigned, work will include data collection, provision of information to the public at the zoning counter, processing development applications, and environmental review. If policy planning activities are assigned, work will include ordinance and plan revisions, data collection and analysis, and other land use studies.

In the Transportation Division, the Associate Planner works on a variety of projects, programs, and initiatives, such as developing, implementing, and updating the City's transportation plans; analyzing transportation and traffic safety data to identify and prioritize projects and policies that will improve public safety; developing Complete Streets projects and supporting the implementation of transportation capital improvement projects; and coordinating with transit providers, primarily AC Transit, on transit projects affecting Berkeley, including service planning and bus stop improvements. Additional duties may include leading grant applications and assisting with grant compliance, procurement of consultants, and consultant and contract management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this classification is:

Equivalent to graduation from a four year college with major coursework in city, regional, or urban planning or a closely related field and two (2) years of professional planning experience. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college coursework on a year-for-year basis.

A valid California driver's license is desirable. Must be able to attend evening meetings as required.

The City of Half Moon Bay is recruiting for a Director of Community Development who will be responsible for managing the City's activities associated with planning, building, code enforcement, inspection, public works maintenance, administration and operational direction to the Community Development Department, the Director is responsible for ensuring a seamless permitting process.  The Director advises the City Manager and/or Assistant City Manager on matters pertaining to the departmental functions.

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. These classifications require shift work and the ability to make decisions and act appropriately in stressful situations. The work also involves interdepartmental cooperation with various public safety agencies located throughout the County to coordinate the most effective response to requests for assistance from the public.

Central County Fire Department (CCFD) serves the Cities of Burlingame and Millbrae and the Town of Hillsborough. The Department serves a population of 66,045 from six fire stations across a service area of approximately 15 square miles. CCFD is supported by 91 FTEs and a FY2023-24 operating budget of $33.14 million. 

CCFD seeks a hands-on human resources professional with a solid foundation in public sector personnel management. This knowledgeable individual will have a well-rounded background and understanding of the various human resources disciplines, with particular strength in labor relations. As the sole service provider in Human Resources, they will enjoy multi-tasking and working on a variety of projects and priorities in a supportive and collaborative organization.

THE POSITION

General Purpose:
This Recreation Aide position will be assigned to the Family Programs area assisting Recreation Leaders in providing support for the After-School Recreation program.
 
Supervision Received and Exercised:
Receive general supervision from a Recreation Coordinator and may receive technical and/or functional supervision from a Recreation Leader or Program Specialist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this classification.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to this class.

• Assist in leading recreation activities in program areas such as preschool, playground, parks, teens, sports, special events, and senior citizen activities.
• Assist in carrying out recreational activities appropriate to a variety of locations such as playgrounds, parks, community centers, pre-school classrooms, school sites, and sports facilities.  
• Assist in leading activities in areas such as arts and crafts, games, sports, music, drama, and nature study.
• Assist in setting up, taking down, and cleaning up recreational facilities; as assigned, open and close facilities as scheduled for use, and secure the facility upon leaving.
• May provide minor first aid to recreation program participants and/or perform related first aid/emergency techniques.
• Exercise precautions necessary to ensure the safety of recreation program participants and spectators.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Set up furniture or equipment for activities scheduled and see that it is in proper condition and is replaced after use.
• Monitor activities of facility users for appropriate and safe conduct.
• Clean up after facility users and set up for subsequent activities; sweep and mop floors as required, empty trash receptacles throughout the facility, as necessary; keep restrooms and kitchen clean and well stocked with paper towels, tissues, etc.
• Collect fees from public swimming pool patrons and aquatics class registrants, and issue pool passes.
• Complete daily attendance and cash receipt report forms.
• Answer the telephone, provide information to callers and write messages, as needed.
• Assist customers at the front counter. 
• Perform general clerical work such as issuing receipts, photocopying, and filing; complete and submit required forms and reports.
• Clean and sanitize workstation and equipment.
• Assist in conducting preschool class activities in areas such as arts and crafts, games, music, or story time.
• Notify appropriate City staff regarding necessary repair and/or replacement of play areas/related equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Principal Staff Specialist in the Strategic Incentives Division (SI) Division. This is an open recruitment for one (1) full-time, represented position.

The Strategic Incentives Division supports the Air District’s mission by implementing incentive programs (grant programs) that achieve voluntary reductions of air pollutants and greenhouse gases, primarily from on- and off-road vehicles and equipment that operate in the Air District’s jurisdiction. In 2023-2024, the SI Division is administering more than $90 million in new revenue to fund programs and projects that replace older diesel-fueled vehicles and equipment such as school and transit buses, marine vessels, locomotives, trucks, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, and other mobile equipment, with newer, cleaner alternatives, including zero-emission technologies, and install refueling/charging infrastructure that supports the accelerated adoption of zero-emissions vehicles and equipment. Other programs administered support the reduction of single-occupancy vehicle, provide cash and mobility options to residents for turning in their older vehicles, and provide grants to reduce pollution from woodburning devices. The Division develops programs to meet community identified strategies for reducing air quality disparities and that benefit the Bay Area’s most overburdened communities.

About you in the position

The Principal Staff Specialist (AB 617 role) in the SI Division will coordinate the division's efforts in bringing greater equity to grant programs through program development, collaboration with other divisions, and engagement with communities under the AB 617 program. With your in-depth knowledge of the Air District’s emission reduction grant programs, you will lead the division's participation in internal and external AB 617 engagement, including communicating the role of the division; analyzing, reporting, and presenting information about air quality improvement incentive programs and mobile sources, participating in community meetings, proposing and guiding discussions on incentive-related emission reduction strategies and actions, developing plans/programs to implement action, and soliciting feedback on strategy implementation. Examples of other tasks include preparing written materials related to grant programs, reports and plans; proposing recommendations for updates to current incentive programs; developing and supporting the development of new programs; assessing impacts of regulatory actions on mobile source categories; presenting to the Board of Directors and other stakeholders; and leading and training staff. This position will require working nights and weekends on occasion to attend community meetings and public events. Reading and interpreting laws, policies, procedures, regulations, guidelines, maps, specifications, and other data. Bilingual proficiency in one or more languages commonly spoken in the San Francisco Bay Area. Interdisciplinary knowledge and/or learning agility with respect to state or other incentive programs, mobile sources of air pollution, zero-emission technology and infrastructure, heavy-duty equipment operations at Bay Area ports and other industrial hubs, and/or impacts of air quality regulatory actions on industry.

Other desired experience includes grant program development, project supervision, team leadership, developing RFP/RFQs, contracts, budgeting, grants management, community organizing, and report writing.
