San Mateo County Health - San Mateo Medical Center is seeking a well-qualified and experienced Materials Management professional for the position of the Director of Materials Management.

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Director of Materials Managementwill plan, organize, direct and supervise the operations of the Material Management division for the San Mateo Medical Center including central supply, purchasing and receiving, inventory control, contract coordination, laundry, mailroom, and transportation. The Directorprovides leadership to permanent and temporary employees as well as contractors who provide specific services.

Additionally, the successful hire will assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of goals, objectives, policies and procedures; provide staff support to higher-level management; and select, train, and supervise subordinate professional, technical, and clerical staff. This position exercises direct and indirect supervision over managerial, technical and clerical staff. This level assists in the recommendation and development of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities related to a specialized service or program; and is responsible for implementing these objectives.

Some of the key priorities of the position include:

• Ensure an uninterrupted chain of supplies and services to all users, meeting clinical and financial needs of the organization.
• Provide excellent customer service and excellent cost management.
• Manage a medical supply budget including cost targets, facilitate product standardization and manage supply utilization.
• Lead the administration of San Mateo Medical Center's materials supplies contracts.
• Serve as a point focus for vendor management, supplies and services contracting, and product selection efforts for the medical center.
• Develop supply chain management programs for medical, surgical, laboratory, and other patient care and ancillary departments.
• Develop and monitor inventory management programs for key customers.
• Coordinate value analysis and other end-user and management teams focused on cost management and cost reduction within clinical and support services departments, including cost analysis, communication plans and components, and development of cooperative leadership with County end user management staff.
• Collaborate with nursing and medical staff regarding cost savings opportunities for the hospital and related areas and functions.
• Identify and implement price, utilization, waste management, make vs. buy, and other cost reduction opportunities with respect to supply chain and purchased services activities for the medical center.
• Manage compliance with group purchasing organization (GPO) contracts.
• Drive savings and improve financial performance through contract negotiation, process improvements, strategy recommendations, and the implementation of existing GPO contracts.
• Organize, direct, coordinate, and evaluate the operations of support services departments such as the mailroom, and courier services.
• Develop quality measurement and regulatory compliance programs for assigned areas, with the identification and development of relevant key performance indicators, and improvement processes.
• Participate in LEAN process programs for system-wide and focused performance improvement activities.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other departments, agencies, vendors, and contractors.
• Accurately analyze problems, identify causes and solutions, develop practical recommendations, and take appropriate action to resolve the problems.
• Prepare complex and detailed written reports, procedures, and contracts.
• Communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

Ideal Candidate will have:

• A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in health, public or business administration or a closely related field.
• At least five years of experience in a hospital or medical clinic management involving materials purchasing, receiving, distribution and inventory management.
• At least three years of supervisory experience.
• Strong understanding of supply chain operations, specifically in a hospital and clinic setting.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of materials management and purchasing, and contracts administration.
• Working knowledge of medical products and equipment, surgical supplies, as well as laboratory and other related products.
• A firm understanding of primary contracting concepts and experience with contract negotiations.
• Success in driving value through rebates and tier level contract negotiation.
• Knowledge and experience with automated systems for purchasing, distribution, contract management, and instrument tracking.
• Comprehensive knowledge of GPO contracting and contract management.
• Experience with maintaining prime distributor relationships.

Sheriff’s Criminal Records Technician are assigned to any of the three following shifts:
 

Day Shift Technicians: Day Shift is responsible for a significant amount of public contact whether in-person, over the phone, or via email. Day Shift is largely responsible for maintaining, processing, and auditing warrant entries and search and seizure orders, in addition to other duties.

 

Swing Shift Technicians: Swings Shift shares an overlap with Day Shift in responsibility with assisting the public, whether in-person, over the phone, or via email. Swing Shift is mainly responsible for maintaining, processing, and auditing restraining/protective orders filed within our county court, in addition to other duties.

 

Night Shift Technicians: Night Shift interacts mostly with other law enforcement agencies, as well as some public contact either via phone or email. Night Shift is mainly in charge of maintaining, processing, and auditing citations and in-custody court packets for arraignment the following business day, in addition to other duties.

 

All 3 Shifts: Technicians in all shifts are assigned to monitor a teletype station, fax machine, and email inbox 24/7 for reviewing and processing requests through these channels in a timely manner, utilizing a variety of different law enforcement systems. In addition, they handle various administrative duties related to obtaining and compiling data from each of these systems based on the specific request.

Shift Expectations: Selected candidates are expected to work evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and/or other shift work depending on needs of the office.

 

Shift Availability: There are 3 shifts (Days, Swings, and Nights) and we are currently working on a 4-10 Schedule (4 days, 10-hours shifts) split between the days of Sun-Weds and Weds-Sat. Alternative work hour schedules are available (i.e., 9/80 schedule).

Background Check: Selected candidates must successfully pass a detailed background and/or criminal history review conducted by the Sheriff’s Office. Felony and misdemeanor convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency.

Sergeants are first-line supervisors responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and performance of personnel who work in a variety of department units including patrol, investigations, special events, records, parking and traffic, and administration.  Supervisory duties include carrying out and overseeing general law enforcement / public safety functions; setting goals and objectives for the unit; contributing to the fulfillment of objectives; motivating and developing personnel; ensuring that personnel meet performance expectations; providing documentation of performance; and implementing strategies that enhance department operations.  Sergeants are expected to work closely and collaboratively with their peers within the department, to effectively coordinate the day-to-day operations of the various units as well as the department. 

A Stanford Department of Public Safety Sergeant must maintain proficiency and exercise the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform basic law enforcement functions as well as directly supervise personnel assigned to his/her work group.  The knowledge base and skills required for this position include, but are not limited to: an understanding of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes and regulations; rules of evidence pertaining to search and seizure and preservation of evidence; techniques and applications of self-defense and proper use of force; use, operation, and maintenance of police equipment, vehicles and tools; department policies and procedures; and institutional policies and procedures (such as the Administrative Guide). 

In addition to their supervisory responsibilities, Sergeants are expected to perform the same basic job duties as line personnel, including, but not limited to: investigating crimes and arresting individuals; issuing citations; and participating in community outreach activities.  Sergeants must balance their administrative responsibilities with in-field supervision, spending considerable time working in the field and directly with the staff in their assigned unit. 
SUDPS personnel are considered “essential” or “required” University personnel and shall respond to campus when directed to do so, even with little advanced notice.  Sergeants are integral to the department’s overall emergency response efforts.  Absent a higher ranking sworn SUDPS member, the responsibility to assure shift operational efficiency shall be the primary responsibility of a Sergeant.

The Custodian position at the Glenn County General Services Department performs a variety of custodial / janitorial duties throughout the County of Glenn. The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. These classifications require shift work and the ability to make decisions and act appropriately in stressful situations. The work also involves interdepartmental cooperation with various public safety agencies located throughout the County to coordinate the most effective response to requests for assistance from the public.

Under general supervision, a Police Officer is responsible for the performance of law enforcement duties to protect life and property in accordance with applicable laws, to carry out special assignments as necessary, and other related duties as assigned. A wide variety of assignments are available which include Patrol, Traffic, Narcotics, Detectives, Off-Road and Surface Street Motorcycle Patrol, Bike Patrol, Special Weapons Team, Crisis Negotiation Team, Canine, Background Investigations, School Liaison, Gang Suppression, Special Enforcement Section and Intelligence.

This position participates in a 4/10 work schedule. Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements:

Candidates must have completed a California P.O.S.T. Certified Police Academy. Must be 21 years of age as of the appointment date, high school graduate or G.E.D., (as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education), and U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship.

Out-of-State Candidates:

The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) will conduct an evaluation of all out-of-state training. POST is the sole authority on applicable training and determines whether the candidate must attend an abbreviated academy, or a regular police academy. If an academy is required, the candidate will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee. Upon completion of the academy, promotion will be made to Police Officer.

Selection Process:

All qualified applicants will be invited to appear before an Oral Appraisal Board. Applicants passing the Oral Board examination will be placed on the eligibility list based on their Oral Appraisal Board rankings. Prospective employees will be required to pass a physical agility examination and undergo a thorough background investigation including a medical, psychological, polygraph and drug/alcohol screening.

• Chain Link Fence (time limit 10 seconds)
• Solid Fence (time limit 13.5 seconds)

Phase II: For candidates progressing to the Chief’s Oral Interview process

• 1.5 Mile Run (time limit 15 minutes)
• 15 Military Style Push-ups without stopping
