About the Division

San Rafael is committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable city where every resident has the opportunity to thrive. With this in mind, the City is establishing a new Community Services Division of the City Manager’s Office. About the Role

The newly created Community Services Division Director position is an exciting and unique opportunity to build a new division of the City of San Rafael.

The Community Services Division Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the City of San Rafael's efforts to address critical social issues, particularly focusing on homelessness at this time.  Reporting directly to the Assistant City Manager, the Division Director will oversee and develop the newly created Community Services Division, ensuring the effective development and implementation of programs that improve the quality of life for residents in need.

In this role, the Division Director will manage a broad range of responsibilities, from strategic planning and policy development to budget management and interdepartmental and interagency coordination. They will be a key liaison between the City and  our County partners, and various other stakeholders, including public agencies, community organizations, and residents. Their work will involve close collaboration with other City departments, public and private partners, and community groups to advance initiatives that address homelessness and related services.

In their first year, they’ll work to develop the City’s first homelessness strategic plan, setting priorities and policies to guide the City’s work in this space for the next five years.

One of the key, immediate priorities the Division Director will oversee is the implementation of the City’s $6M Encampment Resolution Fund Grant. This includes leading the contractor and staff team operating the City’s planned Sanctioned Camping Program and spearheading the identification of a site for a future interim shelter and/or transitional housing. In addition, they’ll also coordinate the implementation of the City’s Camping on Public Property ordinance.

The Community Services Division Director will directly and indirectly lead a dedicated team, guiding their efforts to deliver high-quality services that meet and respond to the needs of the community. The Division Director will also be responsible for securing and managing funding, developing and maintaining partnerships, and ensuring that the Division's programs are both effective and sustainable. This role requires a dynamic, adaptable, creative leader who is passionate about public service, skilled in strategic planning, and committed to making a positive impact on the community.

Real Estate Development Manager

The Santa Clara County Housing Authority (SCCHA) is the county’s largest provider of affordable housing, helping make rental housing safe and affordable for approximately 20,000 low-income households.

How You Will Make an Impact:

SCCHA’s Real Estate Development Division is a mission oriented, dynamic, and collaborative team, working closely together to creatively develop new affordable housing as well as preserve existing assets in service of the tenants and communities we serve.  By embedding the innovative spirit of the Silicon Valley into our agency’s culture, we are elevating our efforts to address the affordable housing shortage in Santa Clara County.  To ensure equity and justice, we prioritize housing developments for extremely low-income individuals and families that embrace residents’ lived experiences.  Our resident-centered approach leverages our real estate capacity, talented staff, and community partnerships. 

We are looking for a dynamic individual who will be a part of the real estate department and help us to develop a pipeline of over 20 projects and over 1200 units of affordable housing.  We are looking for an individual that will oversee and manage a team of project managers with projects ranging from new construction multi-family housing, renovation and rehabilitation of existing structures, repurposing of commercial properties for affordable housing, and master planning of large transit-oriented sites.

What Our Team Is Looking For:

Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience likely to provide the required core competencies may be considered. A typical combination that is qualifying may include: 

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in community development, business, economics, urban planning, or a related field; and
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in residential property development, acquisition, and/or rehabilitation, Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) from applications and financing through conversion, to permanent financing, including two (2) years of experience supervising and managing affordable housing and development programs, budgets, activities and staff.

This position prepares hot and cold food for inmates; supervises and instructs inmates in the preparation and serving of meals to other inmates in a detention facility; receives, stores, and maintains ingredients used for meals; and monitors and maintains security of the kitchen facility, equipment, and inmate workers. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. 
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Checks menus and number of persons to be fed; instructs inmates in obtaining necessary ingredient for meals and preparing work area; instruct inmates in a variety of chopping, cutting, mixing, grating, and food preparation tasks; instructs inmates on the operation of stoves and other equipment.
• Prepares or supervises the preparation of special meals for inmates with medical problems.
• Supervises inmates in the cleaning of all equipment and kitchen work area; counts and keeps logs on all knives. Assists in keeping current inventory of kitchen and food supplies.
• Receives and checks supplies to ensure that proper amounts and types have been delivered; instructs inmates in transporting supplies to proper areas for storage.
   

The Community  Action Program Specialist determines client’s needs for program services and provides case management and/or crisis intervention in one or more various program areas. The Community Action Program Specialist II is the full journey level class within the series and is   distinguished from the entry level class by the performance of the full range of duties, including the more complex cases. This position is full-time and is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Analyzes clients’ financial and eligibility information to determine initial or continuing eligibility for programs.
• Secures case documentation, records, and/or other information from other agencies as required.
• Interview and evaluates clients for specific program services eligibility and/or employment opportunities, including service needs assessment and crisis intervention, to assist individuals/families in achieving self-sufficiency. 
• Conducts orientation workshops for new and returning participants; explains regulations, rules and policies to clients and apprises them of their rights and responsibilities for program participation.
• Receives and responds to inquiries regarding program services from clients, other agencies, and the general public.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Housing Specialist I to join the Housing Division in the Community Development Department. Under direction of the Housing Officer, the Housing Specialist I will play a key role in the planning and development of new affordable housing, creating new housing programs, implementing the Housing Element, applying for grants/funding to support affordable housing, and monitoring housing legislation. The Housing Specialist I will perform technical and professional level planning and community development work, with an emphasis on creation and implementation of affordable housing programs. The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. The Department

The South San Francisco Public Library is a full-service library committed to delivering quality services to a diverse community.  Library services are available at three sites, including the Main Library (901 Civic Campus Way), the Grand Avenue Library (306 Walnut Avenue) and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (520 Tamarack Lane).  Lifelong literacy services are provided by Project Read at the Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (GMCLC).  The City currently has one opening in this classification, for a position providing programs and services at the GMCLC.

The Housing Authority of the City of Alameda is looking for a team-oriented professional to work as a Housing Specialist II (HS II) in the Housing Program Department.
