THE POSITION

To perform a variety of skilled and semiskilled horticulture tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of parks, pools, recreation, and cemetery facilities and buildings.  The purpose of this recruitment is to hire multiple temporary/part-time positions.  Candidates who do not currently meet the minimum qualifications for the Park Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for an Intern position instead.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performing general grounds cleaning, including emptying trash receptacles, mopping, sweeping, and raking City park and recreation sites as needed. Operate power mowers, chain saws, rototillers, aerators, hedgers, spreaders, front-end loader, edgers, air compressors, and other equipment. Utilize proper safety precautions related to all performed work. Drive vehicles and equipment as required. Prepare and maintain athletic fields and related facilities, swimming pools, and cemetery/interment operations.  Regular and consistent attendance.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Install, maintain and replace playground equipment and fences; assemble tables, benches and bleachers. Works as a member of the City pest control crew spraying various fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other related chemicals in City park and recreation areas. Respond to inquiries from the general public. Install, maintain and repair irrigation systems. Assist in setting up community services and special events. The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is the third largest department in the City and is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. The Position 

Under direct supervision of the Natural Resources Specialist and general supervision of the Parks Supervisor and/or Parks Program Manager, the Natural Resources Aide performs a variety of tasks and maintenance activities, including the removal of invasive plants, installation of native plants, trail repair, erosion control, and other related duties as assigned.

This entry-level classification will perform maintenance and labor tasks in support of habitat management and restoration activities under the Sign Hill Habitat Restoration Project. Work may be performed independently or as a member of a crew. Depending upon assignment, work is performed under close to general supervision. Work is reviewed while in progress and by the results achieved. Incumbents may provide limited work direction to temporary or volunteer workers.

The Suisun City Fire Department was established in 1861. The men and women of SCFD take great pride in the customer service that they provide to all who live, work and travel through Suisun City. SCFD is a combination agency staffed with both full-time and volunteer fire personnel. The Position

The ideal candidate would know and be responsible for performance of the full scope of assigned fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical care responsibilities, and for the protection of life and property. New incumbents may have limited related experience but are expected to learn the full range of duties and responsibilities, perform duties with minimal direct supervision, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in making decisions. Firefighters work a 48/96 work schedule, comprised of two 24-hour shifts followed by four 24-hour days off, averaging 56 hours per week.
