The Human Resources Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Mail Services Driver.  ­­­­­­
 
In general, Mail Services Drivers sort and deliver County and United States mail; operate, adjust, monitor, and maintain mail processing and related equipment; and perform a wide variety of complex and specialized tasks related to the receipt and delivery of mail.
 
Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Sort mail, flats, packages, and other materials according to various categories.
• Prepare mail, packages, flats, and other materials for delivery by bundling, wrapping, and weighing.
• Operate mail processing machines such as inserters, postage metering machines, and bundling machines.
• Arrange service and repair calls.
• Maintain records of production and provide information for billing purposes.
• Deliver and pick up mail, packages, freight, and other materials to and from various County agencies and offices on foot or by motor vehicle on established routes and time schedules. 
• Lift and carry heavy packages and move mail and other items using hand trucks or other moving equipment.
• Receive and deliver locked money bags between County departments and monitor related records.
• Maintain working and storage areas in a clean and orderly manner.
• Allocate the cost of metered mail to County budget cost centers.

The ideal candidate will be energetic, customer service oriented, a self-starter, and a team player.  In addition, the ideal candidate will possess a good driving record, free of moving violations, have a good record of attendance and punctuality, possess exceptional organizational skills, have strong communication skills, have exceptional customer service skills, and possess the ability to work effectively in a close-contact, team environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

License: Possession of a California class C driver license or equivalent.
 
Physical Requirement: Must possess the physical strength to lift boxes of supplies and mail bags weighing up to 70 pounds. Must have enough stamina to stand and walk for several hours.
 
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying, unless otherwise specified. A typical way to qualify is the equivalent to one year of experience in sorting, routing, or processing mail and/or supplies.

Summary:
Under supervision, performs routine semi-skilled to skilled grounds landscaping and maintenance work; performs preventive maintenance of District properties; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. • Performs a variety of routine landscape and ground maintenance tasks, including maintaining areas around District facilities, hardscapes and playgrounds, and removing debris and graffiti; maintains assigned areas in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
• Maintains turf and landscaped areas by mowing, edging and weeding; learns and assists with fertilizing, spraying with insecticides and herbicides, aerating and watering.

• Assists with planting and removing trees, shrubs and plants; prunes shrubs and trees to shape and encourage growth, using hand and power saws as assigned.

Qualifications:

The Novato Sanitary District is seeking an organized, collaborative, and fast-learning Administrative Services Technician to support a wide range of essential administrative services functions, such as risk management, human resources, purchasing, record management, and general administration. Under general direction of the Administrative Services Manager, the Administrative Services Technician is a confidential position that provides paraprofessional, technical, administrative, and secretarial support to District programs and services. IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate has experience in either of two backgrounds. The first is a background in providing journey-level clerical or technical support in the public or private sector that included interpreting and explaining complex rules and regulations, researching information, and preparing accurate documents and reports. Alternatively, the second is a background in providing advanced office support that included data entry and the processing of forms and records.

In addition to one of these two backgrounds, the ideal candidate is curious and enjoys learning about new systems and functions at a technical level. They appreciate when careful precision and accuracy is necessary to complete a task. The idea candidate is open to helping with functions and tasks that they are not familiar with and will seek out resources and guidance to better understand the function and complete the task accurately. They are also proactive in identifying needs, developing and recommending solutions, and ensuring the solution is fully implemented.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience: A combination of training and experience that demonstrates that a person has obtained the required knowledge and is able to perform the essential duties of the position. A person with the following combined training and experience would typically qualify to compete in a selection process:

• Equivalent to graduation from high school and four (4) years of increasingly responsible journey-level clerical or technical support experience which included responsibility for interpreting and explaining complex rules and regulations, researching information, and preparing accurate documents and reports, or advanced office support work that included data entry and the processing of forms and records.

The San José Fire Department is looking to fill a Senior Geographic Systems Specialist position within the BAS/Fire IT division. • Oversee GIS data management efforts, including Fire-specific layers, ensuring the quality and timely input of the data. This involves performing quality control and quality assurance (QC/QA) and assisting with hands-on data management to minimize backlogs.

Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services department (PRNS) is recruiting to fill a Community Services Supervisor position in the BeautifySJ Program. The BeautifySJ Program is a blight reduction, community beautification and encampment management program within the Community Services Division. The position will report to a Program Manager.

The BeautifySJ Unit is currently looking for a manager to join our dynamic team. This manager will lead a team of full-time staff to coordinate blight reduction efforts, which may include encampment management programs. The position will be housed at the Kirk Community Center (home of BeautifySJ), and will have a hybrid work schedule which includes working in at the site and when necessary, field visits. The position works 40 hours per week with a typical schedule of Monday?Friday, 7:30am?4:30pm but will vary depending on activities and events and will require evening or weekend work.

BeautifySJ Initiative is a dynamic initiative that works to reduce blight and beautify the City via an inter-departmental strategy that coordinates and leverages resources to address blight issues. The Community Services Supervisor would work collaboratively with staff in PRNS, Housing, the Environmental Services Department, Code Enforcement, the Department of Transportation and interjurisdictional partners.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general direction of the Finance Officer, this position performs professional and technical work of a confidential nature in the areas of payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, and public employee retirement (CalPERS) reporting. This position assists with the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the District, including maintenance of accounting and payroll records, and other tasks as assigned.

• Prepare and maintain a variety of ledgers, reports, and schedules; process accounts receivables/payables, prepare bank deposits, credit card and bank account reconciliations, and purchase orders and other accounting processes and activities as needed.

• Associate or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field.
• Two years of increasingly responsible experience in the areas of payroll administration, accounting, finance and budgeting
• Experience working in public agencies is desirable.

The City of Lincoln is hiring for the position of Maintenance Worker I/II within the Streets Division of the Public Works Department.  Under general supervision, this position performs the full array of duties assigned to classes in the Maintenance Worker series including maintenance, construction and equipment operation work in one or more Public Works divisions; occasionally assists in the training of lower-level Maintenance Workers; and performs other related duties as required.

Maintenance Worker I

The Maintenance Worker I is the entry level class responsible for a wide variety of maintenance and construction tasks. This classification is alternatively staffed with Maintenance Worker II and incumbents may advance to the higher-level after gaining experience and demonstrating a level of proficiency that meets the qualifications of the higher-level class.

Maintenance Worker II

The Maintenance Worker II is the journey level class responsible for a wide variety of maintenance and construction tasks. This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Senior Maintenance Worker in that the latter performance the more complex assignments and lead responsibilities.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

The Maintenance Worker I receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor.  Incumbents of this class do not routinely exercise supervision.  The Maintenance Worker II receives general supervision from a Public Works Supervisor. May exercise technical and functional supervision over assigned staff. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Include but are not limited to the following:

• Performs maintenance, repair, construction, equipment operation and installation work in streets, water, sewers, refuse collection, parks and buildings.
• Streets: Breaks, removes, crack seals, hydropatches, and repairs surfaces; digs, shovels, hauls, loads and unloads materials; operates jack hammers, tampers, pavement breakers and other hand and power tools; rolls and irons asphalt; operates trucks, backhoes, rollers, pavers, street sweepers and other construction vehicles and equipment; assists in the installation and maintenance of City signs, road markings, striping and delineators; paints street lines and crosswalks; performs concrete sidewalk, curb, gutter and ramp installation and repair; installs, maintains and repairs street lights; installs shoring and trench plates; monitors underground service alert (USA’s) and marks when necessary; conducts street leaf pickup; mows roadsides.
• Water Distribution and Drainage: Constructs, maintains and repairs storm conduits, curbs, gutters and drainage facilities; installs, repairs and maintains water mains and lines; conducts maintenance at well sites; monitors pump stations; operates jack hammers and other tools and equipment; inspects tools and equipment for safety and mechanical defects; installs and repairs water service connections, meters and boxes; performs monthly meter reads; repairs, installs and tests hydrants; monitors USA’s and marks when necessary; operates trucks and other construction vehicles and equipment; locates and repairs leaks in water lines; cleans storm drains, flood control facilities and inlets; operates sewer camera and hydrovac.
• Parks and Buildings: Maintains lawns, shrubs, and trees; assists in spraying of herbicides and pesticides; cuts, sprays and removes weeds; clears brush and debris; assists with planting and maintenance of landscaped areas; installs, maintains, repairs and programs irrigation systems; cleans and maintains parks and city buildings; assists in the performance of minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting and remodeling tasks.
• Solid Waste: Operates a variety of collection vehicles and equipment including front, rear and side loaders in the collection and transportation of residential and commercial refuse; drives to landfill site when vehicle is full and unloads material; evaluates and updates assigned routes; cleans, maintains and inspects assigned vehicles; maintains daily logs.
• Fills out reports and work orders; climbs or uses hydraulic aerial devices to top, trim, reshape, strip, treat and remove trees; operates airport fueling vehicles; responds to after-hours call-outs if assigned.
• Demonstrates a full understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned duties; may provide training to lower-level staff; responds to questions and concerns from the general public; provides information as is appropriate and resolves public service complaints.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, pesticides or herbicides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, operate hydraulic aerial devices, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often work with constant interruptions.
