DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Maintenance Worker I:  This is the entry level class in the maintenance worker series. Positions in this class normally perform a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled maintenance tasks. Although trucks and other motorized equipment may be operated by a Maintenance Worker I, the equipment is used on a training basis or for tasks which are repetitious in nature. Under this training concept, positions assigned to the class of Maintenance Worker II which become vacant may reasonably be filled at the Maintenance Worker I level, with the understanding that reassignment to the Maintenance Worker II class may be expected following successful job performance and personal development.

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level in the maintenance worker series. Positions assigned to this class are expected to perform semi‑skilled and skilled public works maintenance activities and to operate light and moderately heavy power‑driven equipment on a continuing basis. All positions allocated to this class require that an incumbent be able to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative to fulfill assigned tasks. Maintenance Workers II may also be expected to assist in the supervision and training of less experienced personnel.

• Perform a variety of maintenance work in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, parks, sewers, storm drains, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, parking meters and other public facilities.

• Break out old concrete work such as curbs, sidewalks, and gutters.

• Install, maintain, and repair sewer system mains, sprinkler systems, pipes and facilities.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair parking meter devices.

The Controller's Office maintains the County’s financial systems and records, and prepares independently audited, award-winning annual financial reports that disclose the financial condition of the County to the public. Distinguishing Characteristics

Payroll/Personnel Coordinator IV is the lead or specialist level class in the Payroll/Personnel Coordinator series. This level is distinguished from the Payroll/Personnel Coordinator III in that the former is assigned to larger County departments with 24/7 operations, various locations, programs, and shifts or in central Human Resources or Controller's Office. At this level, work requires the analysis of unusual circumstances, understanding and proper application of complex and multiple labor contract provisions and assessing a variety of approaches to finding solutions. Actions to be taken or responses to be made differ in such things as the source of information, the kind of transaction or scenario, the type of employee and his/her eligibility for labor contract provisions. Positions at central HR and Controller's Office provide lead, guidance, and instructions to other departmental Coordinators.

 

In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience in Human Recourses and the Payroll System (Workday) and timekeeping system (Infor Workforce Management aka ATKS).

THE DEPARTMENT

The Information Systems and Technology Division is responsible for the City's network infrastructure, cybersecurity, Help Desk support, and daily IT operations. THE POSITION

This is a full-time, professional level position that requires significant administrative, analytical, and technical skills. This position serves as a technical leader, providing complex analytical support.

Under general direction, the Senior Accountant performs and supervises professional accounting and auditing work of staff responsible for providing financial accounting and record-keeping in connection with general ledger, budget preparation, and budgetary control, purchasing activities, payroll; and performs a variety of professional accounting tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

The Organization

The City of Pacifica is a General Law City incorporated in 1957 and operates under the Council/Manager form of government. Legislative authority is vested in a five-member City Council elected by district for four-year overlapping terms. The Mayor is selected each year by a majority vote of the other Council members. The Council appoints the City Manager, City Attorney, and members of advisory commissions and committees. 

Pacifica is a full-service city (approximately 200.75 FTE) with a proposed FY2024-25 general fund budget of $48.1 million. THE DEPARTMENT

ESSENTIAL AND IMPORTANT DUTIES

• Supervises and/or participates in various financial and accounting activities within the Finance Department, including posting, balancing, and reconciliation of General Ledger and subsidiary accounts and City bank accounts.

Education and Training:

Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting or business administration or related field, and

Experience in a public agency or governmental accounting experience is highly desirable.

Certification:

Knowledge of:

The Behavioral Health Clinician I/II performs a variety of professional duties in the provision of outpatient and crisis behavioral health services to individuals and groups. This person will work with complex casework which may include clinics, criminal justice, adult services, youth and family services, and other mental health settings where they may be asked to  respond to crisis situations, work with case managers and psychiatrists in treatment teams and be familiar with various treatment modalities to ensure clients are in appropriate treatment services. The position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

 

JOB DUTIES

• Provides professional mental health outpatient evaluation, consultation, and treatment services to individuals and groups.
• Performs client intake procedures.
• Provides individual, group, and family counseling on a variety of mental health problems and substance use disorders; develops treatment plans; provides follow-up counseling and assists clients with the resolution of problems.
• Observes clients on-site at schools, etc., as necessary; conducts home visits as necessary. Consults with psychiatrist and other clinical staff about treatment planning for clients.
• Provides psychotherapy to children and adult clients or their relatives through individual or group therapy methods.
• Performs performance outcome measures and completes related administrative work.
   

THE POSITION

To perform a variety of skilled and semiskilled horticulture tasks in the construction, maintenance and repair of parks, pools, recreation, and cemetery facilities and buildings.  The purpose of this recruitment is to hire multiple temporary/part-time positions.  Candidates who do not currently meet the minimum qualifications for the Park Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for an Intern position instead.

Temporary/part-time employees work no more than 130 hours per month and 960 hours per fiscal year.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Performing general grounds cleaning, including emptying trash receptacles, mopping, sweeping, and raking City park and recreation sites as needed. Water, mow, cultivate, prune, weed, renovate, and fertilize grass, plants, trees, flowers, and shrubs. Operate power mowers, chain saws, rototillers, aerators, hedgers, spreaders, front-end loader, edgers, air compressors, and other equipment. Utilize proper safety precautions related to all performed work. Drive vehicles and equipment as required. Prepare and maintain athletic fields and related facilities, swimming pools, and cemetery/interment operations.  Regular and consistent attendance.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Install, maintain and replace playground equipment and fences; assemble tables, benches and bleachers. Works as a member of the City pest control crew spraying various fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other related chemicals in City park and recreation areas. Respond to inquiries from the general public. Install, maintain and repair irrigation systems. Assist in setting up community services and special events. Maintain, repair and replace plumbing systems and fixtures such as light switches, motors, wall receptacles, conduits, faucets, drinking fountains, water heaters, water closet, urinals, water regulators and pressure valves.  Work cooperatively with others. QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  Six (6) months of experience in the care and maintenance of landscapes or facilities.

Employees are paid bi-weekly.  Temporary/Part-time employees work no more than 130 hours per month and 960 hours per fiscal year.

SENIOR ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN:

The Community: 

The Town of Hillsborough (pop. 11,574) is a residential community located in San Mateo County, midway between San Francisco and San Jose.  

Incorporated in 1910, the Town provides a full range of essential municipal services including police and fire protection, land use planning, building permitting and inspection, maintenance of roads, and water, sewer, and storm drainage infrastructures. The Organization: 

The Town is a general law city operating with a Council-Manager form of government. Policy-making and legislative authority are vested in the governing City Council which consists of a Mayor, a Vice Mayor, and three Councilmembers. Council members are elected to overlapping four-year terms in even-numbered years and the members select the Mayor and Vice Mayor annually. Among other things, the City Council is responsible for passing ordinances, adopting the budget, appointing committee and board members, and hiring the City Manager and the City Attorney (on contract). The City Manager is responsible for carrying out the policies and ordinances of the City Council, overseeing the day-to-day operations, and appointing department heads. The Town’s Fiscal Year 2024-25 Adopted Budget is $75.9 million with a General Fund Reserve of $30.7 million. The Town’s staff of 99 FTEs support the residents through the five departments: City Manager’s Office, Finance, Police, Building & Planning, and Public Works. 

The Department: 

The Finance Department is responsible for the overall financial management of the Town. The Department’s core mission is to maintain a sound and secure financial position by providing administrative and technical support to the Town’s management, City Council, staff, and the public. The Finance Department provides support services to the Town departments and citizens.  Support services include budgeting, accounting and financial reporting, treasury, and revenue management, purchasing and accounts payable, payroll, debt management, financial analysis, and other administrative functions.  Services provided to customers include water, sewer and storm drain utility billing and customer support, alarm billing, business licensing, Town main phone line reception and other services.

The County of San Mateo's Information Services Department (ISD) is seeking a dynamic leader who is distinctly effective in people and operational management within a highly technical information technology environment. Under general direction of the Office of the Chief Information Officer, this individual serves as a senior manager and provides technical and programmatic direction over a functional area of ISD. Additionally, this individual will plan, develop, and implement goals and policies for the assigned area that align with department priorities; direct assigned staff; and provide highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Office of the Chief Information Officer and their management staff.

This Division Manager will be responsible for approximately 33 staff across three teams. This division is responsible for all operational support of key technology systems such as: Servers, Storage, Data Center, Disaster Recovery, Telephones, and Radios. The Division Manager will ensure that the operational performance metrics are met in each of these areas, that tickets are responded to in a timely fashion, that operational budgets are met, that Service Level Agreements (SLA's) are met, that customer satisfaction is high in each of these areas, and that monthly performance data is maintained and available for each of these areas. The Division Manager will maintain a great work environment for teams to thrive by ensuring staff in these areas are well trained in current and emerging technologies to provide a high level of support to end users. This position requires a very high level of focus and the ability to balance many operational priorities, as each of these areas has critical systems that are supported for end users with many operational service goals to track and meet.

• 7 or more years of experience working at a senior level in a technology related field providing exceptional support to hyperconverged server, telephony, and radio team environments.

• Expertise in fostering a positive work culture, with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

• Experience implementing and supporting enterprise services, including significant platform change.
• Advanced knowledge of project lifecycles from initiation to operational handoff.
• Knowledge and experience with government procurement and the competitive bid process.
• Strong vendor management skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills is a must.
• This position requires an individual to be extremely organized, have keen attention to detail and the flexibility to work with different aspects of a business.
• Prior experience as director or operations manager.

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• In collaboration with other divisions and departmental stakeholders, develop long term strategic plans to enhance service offerings.
• Direct staff in providing timely and effective response to incidents and resolve incidents within agreed to metrics.
• Restore normal service; record and fulfill user requests; and record, investigate, diagnose, escalate, and resolve incidents.
• Manage all IT system changes in a controlled manner, including standard changes and emergency maintenance relating to business processes, applications, and infrastructure.
• Guide divisional staff to effectively execute the activities and operational procedures to deliver required IT services, including standard operating procedures and monitoring activities.
• Successfully implement new IT solutions and services in accordance with organization and customer expectations.
• Plan, organize, direct, and coordinate the work of assigned subordinate professional technical and support staff.
• Ensure proactive and cost-effective services and maintain high level of customer services satisfaction.
• Assist in preparing and monitoring division budget and contracts.
• Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices.
• Assume management of another Information Services division when directed.
• Actively mentor subordinate staff as future leaders of the organization.
• Select, train, motivate, and evaluate assigned personnel.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is three years of professional level experience in information systems which has included one year of administrative or managerial experience. Experience should include a substantial combination of online applications, data communications, computer operations, operating systems, voice communications and services, and large communications systems.
