The Department: 

The Finance Department administers the financial affairs of the City of Santa Clara, including City-owned public utilities. The department is comprised of five divisions, Administrative Services, Budget and Treasury, Accounting, Municipal Services, and Purchasing. Together these divisions carry out the mission of the Finance Department to ensure that the financial/fiscal activities of the City are performed, recorded, and presented in compliance with professional and ethical standards.  

The Position: 

Accounting Technician I

This is the entry-level class within the Accounting Technician series in the classified service.   The class is distinguished from the Accounting Technician II by the performance of more routine tasks and duties assigned to the position within the series.

Accounting Technician II

Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are frequently filled by advancement from the Accounting Technician I class, or when filled through recruitment, require additional experience.  The appointing authority will approve appointment or promotion based on the employee's demonstrated ability to perform the full range of duties for the class and meet the qualification standards for the class.  Incumbents within this class are distinguished from the Accounting Technician I by exhibiting a higher level of judgment and independence in performing the full range of duties as assigned.

The annual salary range for Accounting Technician I is $72,677.52- $92,943.24. The annual salary range for Accounting Technician II is $ 76,263.72 - $97,755.36.  This position will be filled at or near the bottom of the salary range. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Accounting Technician I

Minimum Requirements: 

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED;
• Completion of thirty (30) semester units or forty-five (45) quarter units from an accredited college or university including at least six (6) semester units or nine (9) quarter units, which must be in Accounting or Bookkeeping;
• One (1) year of work experience in Finance/Accounting (accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, or general accounting);
• Experience with electronic spreadsheet and word processing programs; and
• Ten-key by touch.

Acceptable Substitution: 

• Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on the basis of one (1) year of experience for fifteen (15) semester units.  (There is no substitution allowed for the requirement for six (6) semester units or nine (9) quarter units in Accounting or Bookkeeping.)
• A Bachelor's Degree may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience in Finance/Accounting.

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Experience with on-line financial and/or payroll systems;
• Experience with PeopleSoft Financial or Human Resources/Payroll Systems.

Accounting Technician II

Minimum Requirements: 

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED;

The Department of Public Works is recruiting for a Chief of Surveys to provide the following typical duties and responsibilities which may include but are not limited to:

     * Supervises an office technical staff in the preparation of drawings, corner records, record of surveys, reviewing improvement plans and specifications, parcel maps and tract maps.

     * Reviews, approves, or examines land surveying documents (maps, plats, reports, descriptions, etc.) under supervision of the Land Surveyor.

     * Manages surveying staff including supervision, hiring, training and performance evaluations.

     * Plans, coordinates, and schedules all office surveying activities.

     * Sets and maintains standard practices for office surveying activities and quality control.

     * Consults with public and private engineers, inspectors, and contractors relative to requested work and coordinates any necessary activities.

     * Communicates with clients and the public and resolves issues that arise during field surveys.

     * Performs map and document research for field and office survey projects.

     * Interprets construction documents for construction surveys.

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The San José Police Department is dedicated to providing public safety through community partnerships and 21st Century Policing practices, ensuring equity for all. The Department is committed to treating all of San Jose's diverse community members with dignity, fairness, and respect, while protecting their rights and providing equal protection under the law.The San Jose Police Department is seeking a Division Manager for the Operations Support Services Division (OSSD) of the department. OSSD is comprised of approximately 89 employees, with a budget of approximately $9.4 million dollars. The OSSD Division Manager is an essential position within the Police Department and reports directly to the Captain of Bureau of Administration (BOA).

BOA and the OSSD operate and maintain critical systems in support of public safety on a 24/7 basis. The primary purpose of OSSD is to manage and maintain local, state and federal databases in order to assist in the identification, apprehension and prosecution of criminal offenders and to ensure officer and public safety. The Division is divided into five units, which include: Vehicle Records Unit, Report Processing Unit, Warrants Unit, Services & Communications Unit, and Fingerprints.

     * The Vehicle Records Unit processes all reports and calls related to stolen, recovered, impounded, private property towed, and repossessed vehicles. The Unit enters and updates data in all local, state, and national databases. Duties include coordinating with investigative units on the release of vehicles held for investigation or as evidence of crime.

     * The Report Processing Unit processes all incoming reports and provides a variety of services to the public, officers, and other government and law enforcement agencies.

     * The Warrants Unit processes all warrants. Duties include 24/7 "hit confirmation" for officers and other agencies checking the status of warrants, sending warrant abstracts to arresting agencies, managing "due diligence" documentation, purging expired warrants, updating local, state, and national databases, and providing services to members of the public who "self-surrender". This Unit is also responsible for processing traffic citations.

     * The Services & Communications Unit provides a variety of services to officers, other agencies and the members of the public. Services include data retrieval, requests for copies of reports, background requests and Clearance Letters for Visa & Immigration purposes. The Unit also processes subpoenas for records and Public Records requests. Duties include entries and updates of firearms and property in all local, state and national databases.

     * The Fingerprint Unit processes all "non-custodial" bookings and registrants. This Unit is also responsible for managing local, state, and national databases for all criminal citations.

This position will oversee OSSD and related issues in support of the Police Department's mission. The OSSD Division Manager will work closely with the Communications and Systems Development Division Managers and must possess strong leadership, decision-making, and collaborative skills. The Division Manager will take a critical role in developing a cohesive work environment and change management for the future.

The Division Manager will set division policy related to OSSD protocol and will ensure workforce productivity through effective interpersonal skills and adherence to instituted procedures. The Division Manager will supervise shift managers, assign and prioritize staff work, evaluate the performance of mid-level managers, act as the Custodian of Record for most records retained in the department, coordinate the release of Public Records Acts requests, and monitor the evaluation process for all of the Division employees.

The Division Manager will be responsible for preparing, administering and managing the Division budget. This will include drafting purchasing documents and maintenance of contracts. This will be accomplished by negotiating contracts, scheduling vendors and requesting services. The Division Manager will be responsible for holding contractors accountable in an expeditious and efficient manner. Additionally, the Division manager will be responsible for authorizing expenditures in compliance with City protocols and that the division budget is kept within the appropriate authorizations.

The Division Manager will oversee the management of all aspects of policy related to the Division's operation. This includes management of the Division's access to local, regional, state and nationwide databases such as the Records Management System (RMS), California Law Enforcement Telecommunications (CLETS), Sheriff's Law Enforcement Telecommunications (SLETS), National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Criminal Justice Information Control (CJIC) systems.

The Division Manager will prepare and present Department reports for Senior Management and City Council. This will include preparing Annual Performance Plans and Quarterly Program Management Reports that encompass measures, accomplishments and needs of the Division.

The salary range for this classification is $131,187 to $207,658 annually. This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates' qualifications and experience.

The essential functions of this position are as follows:

- A history of effectively managing staff and working in an environment in which senior department managers regularly balance competing expectations from groups with diverse points of views and interests.

-Skill in creating new approaches to a variety of unprecedented and problematic situations.

-Ability to manage a complex operation, communicate well with an experienced staff, including the oversight of a police support services operation for both day-to-day operations as well as future development.

- Reviews and interprets Federal, State, and local mandates and departmental policies and procedures. Including participating in both DOJ and FBI audits -As the Custodian of Record appear in court.

-The division operates 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year including holidays. As such, the Division Manager must be available via telephone at all times. This position will require the employee to work 5 days a week and may be scheduled to work evenings, nights and/or weekends.

Park Ranger I

Summary:

Qualifications:

The Sr. Information Systems Analyst is responsible for advanced networking and server virtualization in both our Corporate and Scada (Industrial) networks. They are expected to have advanced analytical/problem solving skills, perform highly complex configurations, extensive experience in advanced networking/server deployments, IT SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), Cybersecurity experience, SaaS deployments, and PaaS deployments. They should also have extensive experience with maintain highly complex environments in a variety of infrastructures.
 
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Test, implement, and maintain highly complex configurations/gear for core network switches, routers, firewalls, PaaS, and monitoring devices.
• Test, implement, and maintain highly complex configurations/gear for virtualized, physical servers, and SaaS environments.
• Perform Monitoring of advanced Networking and Server based devices, evaluate IT/OT SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), cybersecurity concerns, perform critical vulnerability patching, maintaining our systems to avoid impacting operational uptime, and perform security upgrades.

Under general supervision, individuals assigned to this classification assist the organization to develop and design reports, websites, social media collateral and other marketing and presentation materials. This classification focuses on the development of written and graphic representation for division or department materials. Individuals in this classification are primarily focused on enhancing the Division’s social media presence, developing all written material, performing administrative tasks, attending fairs and events to promote Recreation Services programs; and perform/ related work as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is required to work on the Community Center campus and may not work from home. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination when using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision when reading and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, push and pull files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required. The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships; engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem- solving; and leveraging financial and volunteer resources.  The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community.

The Position

As a member of the HSD assigned to the AFS, the Senior Program Coordinator will organize, coordinate, and implement community wellness programs for older adults. The Community Programs include health promotion activities such as health screenings, wellness classes, and educational activities. The position works within a team that includes volunteers, health promoters, nurses, social workers and mental health workers. The position facilitates community awareness and partnerships, with individuals and agencies, to promote an age-friendly environment.

About the Position:  The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) Seasonal Ranger Aide is an entry-level position, which provides the opportunity to learn and perform some duties of a ranger under the guidance of experienced ranger staff. Ranger Aides provide visitor information and assistance, travelling by non-emergency Midpen vehicles and on foot throughout an assigned geographical region. Ranger Aides perform a variety of customer service duties such as educating and informing the public about Midpen land use regulations, public relations and provide general information services, but do not have law enforcement authority.  Ranger Aides will assist with routine maintenance work on Midpen land and facilities and may respond to assist with emergency calls. Schedules:  This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work full-time (40 hours during the work week); however, school schedules may be accommodated.  Weekend work (Sat/Sun) is required, with two consistent days off each week (either Mondays/Tuesdays off OR Thursdays/Fridays off).  Incumbents will work an 8-hour workday (plus a 30-minute unpaid meal break). Daily start and end times will be the same for most workdays, typically scheduled within the range of 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.  Must be willing to work weekends, nights, holidays, or extended shifts and work with exposure to difficult circumstances, including exposure to challenging situations and upset individuals. Working Conditions: Most work is outdoors within Midpen’s open space lands with exposure to inclement weather conditions. Once trained, Ranger Aides may work alone for parts or all of their shifts. Must wear prescribed District uniform and adhere to strict safety procedures and work habits.

PAL (Police Activities League) Program Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: PAL Program Attendants work with Suisun City’s PAL Program and with area teenagers ages 13-19 to implement educational and recreational activities: tutoring, sports, games, mini-excursions, competitions, contests, seminars, and special events, and provide general support to the program’s Recreation Supervisor. We’re looking for highly motivated people with a customer service orientation who genuinely enjoy helping others and who are flexible problem-solvers.
