Dispatch/Records Supervisor (Full Time)

Under direction, the Dispatcher/Records Supervisor performs a wide variety of confidential law enforcement and clerical records maintenance and emergency services dispatching. Assists in designing and implementing procedures, methods, programs and departmental goals and objectives; responsible for the efficient accomplishment of the daily activities of an assigned work group; exercises direct supervision over staff; and performs related work as assigned.

SALARY RANGE:
Dispatch/Records Supervisor – $4,907.72 to $5,965.37 per month

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

The Dispatcher/Records Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising the work of specific non-sworn classifications; adhering to State and Federal guidelines regarding records maintenance. Limited direction is provided by the Support Services Manager.

Provides continuous leadership in carrying out the program mission, as amended from time to time, including:

• Assign work, schedule shifts for assigned personnel, proof and review work and provide technical assistance to communications and records clerk personnel involving warrants, bail, abstracts, and other offender records.

• Assist in developing and implementing police records communications and teletype systems and procedures.

• Type, file, and index police reports.

• Receive reports and complaints from the public over the phone and at the desk.

• Prepare periodic operating and statistical reports from accumulated data.

• Supervise and assist in the radio dispatch of emergency personnel and equipment.

• Handle petty cash as directed.

• Supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff.

• Perform related duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

• Support and troubleshoot the City’s desktop, server, and network environment, including operating, database, and network systems.​

• Install, configure, and maintain desktop computers, printers, peripherals, and a wide variety of IT/IS applications, and train users on hardware and software.​

This position performs a variety of paraprofessional technical and customer service functions supporting the Building Division. The Position

This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in municipal planning, exposure to development review processes, and an understanding of how planning policies are implemented at the local level. The intern will work closely with planning staff and gain practical insight into zoning, land use regulations, and public-sector planning operations.

Duties: The primary projects will most likely include the following:

•    Conduct research related to land use planning, zoning regulations, and special planning initiatives
•    Assist planning staff with minor permit review
•    Help organize and analyze planning data, maps, and project materials
•    Prepare summaries and other written materials to support planning projects
•    Assist with updating planning documents, handouts, and internal resources
•    Participate in staff meetings and observe planning processes, as appropriate
•    Provide general administrative support to planning staff as needed

Minimum Qualifications

•    BA/BS Candidate in City Planning, Architecture, Public Policy or a similar discipline
•    Strong analytical, writing and verbal skills; effective written and oral communication
•    Interest in municipal planning and public-sector work
•    Familiarity with land use planning concepts or zoning regulations
•    Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
 

Time Commitment

Flexible Schedule, up to 40 hours a week. Each intern is able to work a maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year.

$25.08 – 30.02 per hour

As an Associate Planner, you will play a key role in shaping the community’s future by managing a variety of current and long-range planning projects.  Working under general supervision, you will:   

• Conduct professional Planning work involving land use, zoning, and community development.  

• Review, analyze, and process development applications of moderate to complex scope.  

• Prepare and present staff reports, plans, and recommendations to decision-making bodies. 

• Collaborate with residents, businesses, and stakeholders to promote thoughtful growth. 

• Contribute to long-range plans and projects that align with the City’s General Plan and vision.  

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Manage and process applications for development projects, including residential, mixed-use, commercial, industrial, and institutional proposals.  

• Facilitate in-person and virtual permit submittals.  

• Respond to phone and email inquiries. 

• Consult and advise property owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and the public regarding applications, City policies, codes, and other plans.   

• Prepare clear and concise technical documents, reports, correspondence and other written materials.  

• Exercise sound independent judgement.  

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of work.   

• Attend and present information to City Council, Planning Commission, Administrative Hearing Officer, and community meetings as assigned.  

• Plans, organizes and conducts research studies and prepares recommendations regarding land use, zoning, urban design, population trends, transportation, housing and environmental needs, updates and analyzes demographic and other data required for the planning function, participates in the review, development or revision of the various of the General Plan, environmental impact reports, plans, ordinance and other policies and procedures.  

• Independently performs responsible and varied professional planning duties.  

• Provide sound recommendations based on detailed analysis and project evaluation.
