Coordinates and performs professional-level administrative and programmatic work in such areas as, purchasing, database management, contract administration, public information, and program evaluation.  Plans, organizes, and reviews the work of contractors and assigned staff performing operational activities within the Land and Facilities Services Department including coordination of the procurement of capital equipment, maintenance of radio communication systems, and fleet management. 

Work Environment: This is primarily a sedentary office classification.  Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Some fieldwork may be required, which involves the ability to walk for short distances over rough terrain, drive vehicles over unimproved roads, and stand for extended periods. 

Education and Experience:  Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration or a related field, and three (3) years of professional analytical experience, or two (2) years of experience equivalent to Management Analyst I at the District.  Public sector experience is preferred.

Licenses & Certifications Required:   Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

About the Position:  The Area Manager is knowledgeable in the principles and practices of public land management, open space and preserve maintenance, resource management, managing budgets, prioritizing work tasks, and responding to public; stakeholder agencies; and other department inquiries.  The Area Manager directs the day-to-day administrative functions in their assigned area.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assumes management responsibility for all maintenance and operations functions and activities of an assigned Area, including maintenance and construction of preserves, facilities, residences, vehicles, and resource management.
• Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the Department; recommends within departmental policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; recommends and administers policies and procedures.
• Participates in the development and administration of and oversees Area budgets.
• Serves as a liaison for assigned Area to outside agencies, neighborhood groups, and concerned citizens.
• Coordinates with fire agencies on fire risk prevention activities.
• Provides highly complex staff assistance to the Land & Facilities Services Manager; develops and reviews staff reports related to assigned activities and services; may present information to the Board of Directors and various commissions, committees, and boards; provides staff support to commissions, committees, and task forces, as necessary.

Work Environment:  This position is part of the Land and Facilities Services Department assigned to a field office.  The Area Manager works in an office setting, primarily and will attend various meeting and visit District field sites, which may require hiking through steep terrain and wildland areas and driving in remote areas on dirt roads.  Employee may be exposed to blood and body fluids when rendering First Aid and CPR.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Housing Programs Analyst to join the Housing Division of the Community Development Department. Under the direction of the Housing Officer, the Housing Programs Analyst plays the lead role in administering and monitoring the City's federal community development and housing grants (CDBG, HOME, etc.) and local Housing Mitigation Funds. This includes preparing various requests for proposals, screening grant applications, preparing plans and reports related to federal grants, preparing various contracts and processing payments. The Analyst also monitors major City funding of affordable housing developments, including oversight of the Division's loan portfolio, preparing various escrow and loan documents, and working closely with our nonprofit partners. The Police Department's opening for a Department Information Technology Manager in the Systems Development Division of the Bureau of Technical Services.  This position is a senior level technical manager who will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day Police Department Application services. This is a hands-on position whose daily activities include management of an Applications Sustainment Support team and maintaining major department wide applications which support critical line personnel. The team currently consisting of 1 Supervising Applications Analyst, 2 Information Systems Analysts, 2 Senior Systems Applications Analysts, 1 Analyst, and 1 Staff Specialist. The Systems Development Division supports a main campus and 20 field offices, ensuring availability and reliability of critical systems is paramount. This position reports directly to the Systems Development Division Manager. Excellent command of verbal and written communication skills is required.

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: 

• • Research, plan, and implement best practices and strategies that address the applications needs, or web development, for the Department, including development, administration, upgrade of the various applications used by the Police Department (911 Communications and PD).  

• • The Department Information Technology Manager will be responsible for developing project plans that include research, writing technical requirements/RFPs for procurement, developing best methodologies for system implementation, and creating maintenance and support documentation. 

• • Knowledge of Oracle, Informix, SQL, DBMS and its components with code and programming concepts.   Specifically, the knowledge and experience needed to integrate with other applications from Oracle, Informix and SQL platforms.

• • Knowledge and experience in RDBMS and DBMS on Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012, UNIX, Linux, and VMware platforms.

• • Ability to read DB Schema and compose contrived and formal relationships between tables specifically to develop forms and applications and Crystal Report integration.

• • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Visual Studio or other enterprise development applications to develop ASP, ASPX applications or compatible platforms.   

• • Knowledge of configuration and deployment of Microsoft IIS and previous experience deploying Web applications using IIS.

• • Coordinate Department needs with stakeholders and Police Department Senior Staff, and create a mid-range plan of applications development and implementation. 

• • Provide administrative oversight over the Systems Development Division personnel and contracts. 

Work closely with the City's IT Department in coordinating city wide applications and the utilization at the Police Department.

About the Position:  The Farm Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and construction tasks at Deer Hollow Farm in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve. Deer Hollow Farm is an educational, working farm with cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, and other livestock.  Duties include performing maintenance and construction tasks using hand and power tools, operating and maintaining Farm vehicles, and assistance with daily Farm operations. The Farm Maintenance Worker will also assist with animal husbandry; greet visitors and provide information to the public; and work with volunteers on Farm-related projects. Work Environment:  Required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must have the ability to foster positive and effective relationships with the public, volunteers, and staff. Experience working with volunteers is highly preferred.
