The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Assistant Fire Inspector in the Fire Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in the Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) Division and help administer special projects aimed at assisting residents with defensible space, hazardous vegetation cleanup, and preparing for wildfire. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from high school and one year of experience in fire, building, or code enforcement inspections in a paid professional, internship, or volunteer capacity. Municipal experience desirable.

Other desirable qualifications include: Completion of California State Fire Marshal's Fire Prevention 1A, 1B, and 1C courses; Fire Inspector 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D; or International Code Council (ICC) Fire Inspector I; Associate’s degree in fire science, emergency management, fire protection engineering, environmental science, ecosystem management, public policy, public administration, or related field.

About the Role

The newly created Community Services Division Director position is an exciting and unique opportunity to build a new division of the City of San Rafael.

The Community Services Division Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading the City of San Rafael's efforts to address critical social issues, particularly focusing on homelessness at this time.  Reporting directly to the Assistant City Manager, the Division Director will oversee and develop the newly created Community Services Division, ensuring the effective development and implementation of programs that improve the quality of life for residents in need.

In this role, the Division Director will manage a broad range of responsibilities, from strategic planning and policy development to budget management and interdepartmental and interagency coordination. They will be a key liaison between the City and  our County partners, and various other stakeholders, including public agencies, community organizations, and residents. Their work will involve close collaboration with other City departments, public and private partners, and community groups to advance initiatives that address homelessness and related services.

In their first year, they’ll work to develop the City’s first homelessness strategic plan, setting priorities and policies to guide the City’s work in this space for the next five years.

One of the key, immediate priorities the Division Director will oversee is the implementation of the City’s $6M Encampment Resolution Fund Grant. This includes leading the contractor and staff team operating the City’s planned Sanctioned Camping Program and spearheading the identification of a site for a future interim shelter and/or transitional housing. The City of Thousand Oaks has an exciting opportunity! We are seeking a knowledgeable and results oriented Plan Check Supervisor who will be responsible for staff oversight, assigning, reviewing, organizing, and participating in the work of the Plan Check Section staff in the Building Division of the Community Development Department.

Plan check functions include ensuring permits are issued only for those plans that meet all state and local codes regulating life-safety, quality of life, energy conservation, and structural safety standards. This position is responsible for the more technical and complex plan check tasks and serves as a technical resource to staff.

• Explains, interprets, and provides guidance regarding applicable codes, regulations, hand-outs, and related materials to the public, architects, engineers, contractors, developers, owners, staff, and other interested parties; answers questions regarding building codes and requirements and interprets plans for field inspectors; resolves highly complex and sensitive customer service issues, including alternate methods and materials, either personally, by telephone or in writing; maintains records and documents of customer service issues and resolutions.
• Coordinates activities and plan review processing with other City staff and staff from other agencies including counter technicians, planners, inspectors, building officials, engineers, fire inspectors, health department plan checkers, and others; assists other Divisions and Departments, including Planning, Public Works, and Finance, in providing information and answering inquiries regarding various projects, fees, plans examination, code interpretations, internal divisional policy and procedures, determination and calculation of valuations, permit costs, and related fees.

Valley Water is the primary water resource agency for Santa Clara County, supplying wholesale water, providing flood protection, and serving as environmental steward for clean, safe creeks and healthy ecosystems. Valley Water serves approximately two million people in 15 cities: Campbell, Cupertino, Gilroy, Los Altos, Milpitas, Monte Sereno, Morgan Hill, Mt. View, Palo Alto, San Jose, Santa Clara, Saratoga and Sunnyvale, and the towns of Los Altos Hills and Los Gatos, and manages 10 dams and surface water reservoirs, three water treatment plants, a state-of-the-art water quality laboratory, 400 acres of groundwater recharge ponds, and 275 miles of streams.
 
The Assistant Water Plant Operator helps with all day-to-day plant operations, including operating and maintaining plant equipment, calibrating water quality monitoring equipment; taking and analyzing water and chemical samples; cleaning equipment and facilities; receiving bulk chemical deliveries; operating the sludge dewatering process; using the computer-based plant control, or SCADA system, completing data entry, initiating work orders, and maintaining plant operations logs and reports. Operators work a 4 to 6-month assigned rotations between day shift, night shift, and other shifts, as needed. The facility operates and is staffed continuously, which means 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This position reports to the Water Plant Supervisor and works under direction from the Senior/Water Plant Operator.

• Draw samples of water and other materials from the different phases of water treatment; measure and analyze the samples to determine compliance with Valley Water and regulatory standards for chlorine, ozone, phosphate, and ammonia residuals, pH, turbidity, taste, and odor. Receive and monitor deliveries of bulk chemicals and other plant supplies.
• Perform cleaning and maintenance procedures on operating equipment and facilities; including flocculators, basins, filters, sludge drying beds, washwater clarification system, and containment and delivery areas. Employees have a responsibility for safety; for following safety regulations and safety policies and procedures applicable to their work; and for carrying out those responsibilities with due diligence as a condition of employment.
• Use the plant's computer based Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to monitor plant operations; scan multiple computer monitors simultaneously; navigate a multitude of program screens to observe, track, and retrieve water, chemical, and equipment readings. Perform various administrative tasks, including data entry into spreadsheets, update standard operating procedures, initiate work orders, maintain, compile and update plant operations logs and reports.

Level II: One (1) or more years of experience performing work as a licensed operator at a water treatment plant that is rated as a T-4 or higher facility.

This position prepares hot and cold food for inmates; supervises and instructs inmates in the preparation and serving of meals to other inmates in a detention facility; receives, stores, and maintains ingredients used for meals; and monitors and maintains security of the kitchen facility, equipment, and inmate workers. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. 
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for an individual to serve as a Clinical Therapist I/II for the Adult Outpatient Program (AOP).
