The Engineering Group Manager – Facilities will oversee a diverse and talented team responsible for managing the planning, design, and construction of capital projects at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). Ross Valley Sanitary District is seeking an Inspector excited to join our high performing team. Inspectors work with contractors, homeowners and real estate agents to ensure construction projects meet District standards while educating and providing excellent customer service to the public.

Under general supervision of the Senior Engineer, the Inspector performs advanced, complex, and critical inspections of District infrastructure. Working independently, the Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with District regulations and codes related to the repair of District infrastructure, construction of private sewers, and collection system pump stations. Inspectors are also responsible for ensuring safety measures are applied at job sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Check and review construction plans for construction and repair on public and private sewers.
• Perform civil, structural, mechanical, and basic electrical inspections on construction and repair on District sewer mains, and private sewer laterals performed by contractors or other agencies.
• Communicate status of work to Engineer and co-workers as appropriate.
• Check surveys and plans for accuracy and document site conditions prior to start of construction.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties.
