THE POSITION

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum Requirements:

• Two (2) years of experience in public contact work involving zoning administrative investigation, building inspection or investigation, industrial/commercial pretreatment inspections, or stormwater pollution control, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Possible Substitutions:
• One (1) year of additional related experience may be substituted for each year, up to two years of the required education.

Desirable Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's Degree in City or Urban Planning, Business Administration, Construction Technology, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or closely related field is desirable.
• A Code Enforcement Officer Certification by the California Association of Code Enforcement Officers (CACEO) is desirable.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES

For the Public Works Department:
• A recognized professional certification within the stormwater management field (QSP, QISP, CSM, CESSWI, CPESC, CPMSM, etc.) within twelve (12) months of appointment and for the duration of employment.

The Engineering Group Manager – Facilities will oversee a diverse and talented team responsible for managing the planning, design, and construction of capital projects at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). THE POSITION

The Code Enforcement Officer I or II is a part of the Building Division in the Community Development Department. This position will be filled at either Officer I or Officer II level, depending on qualifications of the final candidate. Ross Valley Sanitary District is seeking an Inspector excited to join our high performing team. Inspectors work with contractors, homeowners and real estate agents to ensure construction projects meet District standards while educating and providing excellent customer service to the public.

Under general supervision of the Senior Engineer, the Inspector performs advanced, complex, and critical inspections of District infrastructure. Working independently, the Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with District regulations and codes related to the repair of District infrastructure, construction of private sewers, and collection system pump stations. Inspectors are also responsible for ensuring safety measures are applied at job sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Check and review construction plans for construction and repair on public and private sewers.
• Perform civil, structural, mechanical, and basic electrical inspections on construction and repair on District sewer mains, and private sewer laterals performed by contractors or other agencies.
• Communicate status of work to Engineer and co-workers as appropriate.
• Check surveys and plans for accuracy and document site conditions prior to start of construction.

• Provide customer service to residents, contractors, and representatives of private/public agencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training, and Experience

Any combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of:

• Completion of the twelfth grade, or its equivalent.
• Coursework in algebra, geometry; mapping is highly desirable.
• Four years of journey-level work experience in sewer, maintenance, industrial, and/or public works construction in public agency or private sector.

Licensing, Certification, and Registration

Possession of the following licensures, certifications, and/or registrations are required:

• Ability to obtain a Grade II Collection System Maintenance Certificate from the California Water Environment Association within one year of hire.

The Department

This entry-level classification will perform maintenance and labor tasks in support of habitat management and restoration activities under the Sign Hill Habitat Restoration Project. Work may be performed independently or as a member of a crew. Depending upon assignment, work is performed under close to general supervision.
