The Town of Hillsborough is seeking part-time clerical assistance in the Planning & Building Department.
Position will work four days a week, four hours per day.
Monday - Thursday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
The successful candidate will provide general office clerical assistance, including but not limited to:
- Scheduling inspections
- Answering phones
- Other duties as assigned

Under general supervision, supplements administrative staff and provides support for sworn staff in police operations including mail distribution, public fingerprinting, property and evidence handling and control, data input and retrieval for payroll, purchasing, and crime analysis functions; provides parking and vehicle abatement enforcement, prepares minor police reports; performs administrative support for youth services, crime prevention and volunteer programs and is cross trained to handle all assignments.

THE POSITION You will enjoy processing a variety of permits, provide general information to the public at City Hall via the public counter, by telephone and will be an integral member of Redwood City's Counter Team.
Under administrative direction the City Clerk/Communications Coordinator directs, plans, organizes and oversees all activities of the City Clerk. Functional areas of responsibility include administrative support to City Manager and City Council; administrative and logistical support to City Council meetings; official records management; municipal elections; legal notices; municipal code and filing officer services.
The Selection Process
This is a journey-level class in the Police Records Specialist classification series responsible for maintaining information in specialized departmental databases, preparing and assembling reports, processing payments, and preparing and processing subpoenas, requests for information, and other documents. All activities are performed within specified legal guidelines. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative.
