Under general supervision, to perform a variety of skilled manual tasks; to operate light and heavy equipment; specialized and technical equipment; and perform related work as required for Facility Maintenance repairs and projects. This is the next level class above Facilities Maintenance Worker II. Works independently on assignments which require skills and experience in Facilities Maintenance. Uses specialized equipment to perform duties. May be assigned to various divisions.
The starting salary will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. In addition to the starting salary, employees in the Building Maintenance Superintendent classification shall also receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay.
The Department is currently recruiting to fill multiple Building Inspector Combination (BIC) positions in the Building Division. A Building Inspector Combination reviews plans, issues permits, and performs field inspections for a variety of buildings and structures being constructed, altered or repaired to ensure compliance with building, plumbing, mechanical and electrical codes and related Federal, State and local regulations. Specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the Department.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Sunnyvale has two openings, Plan Checker I and Plan Checker II, to review construction plans for code compliance. These positions work closely with the public to issue permits/plans that protect life and property. The ideal candidate will possess technical expertise in the building codes, have strong organizational and administrative skills, and be solutions driven with strong customer service skills. The Building Safety team works as one solution-driven, cohesive team, and encourages leadership from the ground up.
