PBCE internship program is designed to offer professional learning opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in the urban planning field. We're seeking an Industrial Hygienist to join our Safety & Health team at the San Francisco International Airport (SFO). In this position, you'll handle challenging industrial hygiene tasks related to hazardous materials and other health and environmental risks at the Airport. You'll independently conduct regular monitoring of chemical, biological, and physical agents, while also serving as a technical expert and consultant in implementing occupational safety and health regulations. Your responsibilities include assessing industrial hygiene data concerning public health matters, designing and delivering occupational health and safety training sessions, responding to and assessing hazardous materials incidents, conducting ergonomic assessments, and fulfilling any other related duties as needed.

Essential Duties: 

• Serves as a technical advisor to departmental management and other personnel in identifying, containing, and regulating the use and storage of hazardous materials; in developing and implementing inspection practices and procedures.
• Investigates and evaluates health and safety hazards and coordinates remedial action with representatives from various City and County departments, other agencies, businesses, and the public; conducts surveys of potentially hazardous workplace operations, including monitoring for physical, biological, and chemical agents, evaluating results, recommending corrective actions and preparing reports.

DEFINITION:

The Rent Stabilization Program provides mediation and arbitration services to landlords and tenants in rent-controlled apartments, oversees rent controlled mobile homes and provides information and referrals for non-rent controlled rental units in San José. Under the direction of a Senior Analyst, the position provides information and assistance to the public and staff on many aspects of rent stabilization and rental housing laws, regulations, and procedures. The position may prepare petitions from the public in preparation for hearings under the City's rent stabilization and related ordinances, answer public inquiries to the Rent Stabilization Program, track and analyze data and outcomes, as well as perform other complex tasks required in the administration of housing programs. This position will assist in outreach and education functions and may assist tenants and landlords in accessing eviction prevention resources, including emergency rental assistance and legal services. The position may collect documents and assess eligibility of tenants and landlords for an eviction diversion program. The incumbent will be expected to make public presentations, interact with tenants, property owners, and their representatives and must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with persons from diverse social, cultural and economic backgrounds.

Duties of the positions may include:

• Responding to inquiries from the public regarding Apartment Rent Ordinance, Tenant Protection Ordinance, Mobile homes Ordinance, and related rules, regulations and policies and making referrals to other agencies, as appropriate.
• Processing petitions from landlords and tenants and supporting Hearing Officers and mediators throughout the hearing and mediation process. Assisting parties to the petition in developing all information needed for presentation in hearings without bias toward either party.
• Facilitating the resolution of petitions and complaints where possible through voluntary agreements between the parties that are consistent with the City's housing ordinances and policies.
• Tracking and reporting outcomes of petitions.
• Manage relationships and contracts with contract employees providing mediation and arbitration services for the Rent Stabilization Program.
• Assisting landlords in maintaining compliance with City rental housing ordinances through enrollment in the City's rental programs, maintenance of business licenses, and other city and state permit requirements as appropriate.

The City of Foster City is looking for a dedicated and responsible individual to join the Police Department as a Senior Community Services Officer. Property/Evidence Assignment

Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a good driving record.

Special Requirements
Ability to provide effective service and technical support; ability to learn all assignments; ability to sit for long periods of time, stoop, squat, lift and carry small boxes, supplies and equipment up to 25 lbs.; ability to remain calm and courteous in stressful situations, possess stamina for high workload periods, high profile projects and tight deadlines; coordinate and communicate with a wide range of people, effectively disseminate information and analyze relevant data; flexibility to work irregular hours and overtime as necessary; handle multiple priorities and respond to urgent requests; provide community service in a polite and courteous manner.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. Applicants selected for a Departmental interview must complete a background investigation which includes a polygraph and fingerprinting. After a conditional job offer, applicants must also complete a psychological examination and pre-employment medical examination.

StopWaste is hiring an Energy Council Program Services Specialist to work on Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) programs. The position will conduct community outreach and engage with stakeholders to make energy upgrades and electrify multifamily and single family buildings in Alameda County and the larger Bay Area. It will also work on growing and strengthening the clean energy workforce to help achieve energy and climate goals. The ideal candidate will have deep experience engaging and developing relationships with community partners. The position may be filled at the Program Services Specialist I, II, or Senior role depending on the applicant pool and the discretion of StopWaste staff.
