LIBRARIAN I or II, ADULT SERVICES – ROHNERT PARK

40 HOURS PER WEEK – FULL TIME

 

We are seeking a customer service driven library professional with excellent communication skills for our full-time Adult Services Librarian position at the Rohnert Park Cotati Regional Library. The ideal candidate will have strong outreach, technical, and training skills and be willing to work in a sometimes fast paced and often vibrant “all ages” environment. Share your talents and abilities while utilizing your librarian skills for community partnerships, basic to advanced computer training and downloadable Audio and eBook device help for the public. Under general supervision, this full-time, benefitted position provides excellent customer service while performing a variety of professional adult library services, including reference, reader’s advisory, collection development, event planning, outreach, digital literacy training for the public, and performs related work as assigned.

 

TYPICAL TASKS include, but are not limited to:

     Provides general reference and reader’s advisory services

     Explains library policies and procedures to patrons and staff

     Assists, advises and instructs patrons on the use of library materials and equipment, including automated catalogs, the Internet, various software, eBooks and audio book reading and listening devices and digital literacy in general

     Conducts reference searches using a variety of database, online, and other search techniques

     Helps to maintain and select the addition of books, reference materials, CD’s, DVD’s, electronic media, and other library materials

     Assists at the Circulation Desk when needed.

     Assists in and/or directs the preparation of exhibits and the organization and presentation of a variety of programs and events, as well as forming community partnerships for co-events

     Leads book discussion groups

     Promotes the Library out in the community, at schools, and events, and provides written outreach through community publications as well as press releases and other promotions; may represent the Library in meetings with the community or special interest groups

     Helps to maintain social media connectivity to the library public.

     Works collaboratively with staff, the community and special interest groups.

     The Librarian II performs all of these tasks but at a more difficult, higher level. May serve as

Person-in-Charge when Branch Manager is absent.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Experience: Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS), Master of Library Science (MLS), or Master of Science in Library Science (MSLS) degree from an accredited college or university. The Librarian II requires two years of appropriate professional experience working as a professional librarian, preferably in a public library. Must have a valid California driver’s license.

 

SALARY RANGES:            Librarian I -   $29.95/hour to $37.42/hour

                                           Librarian II -  $31.46/hour to $39.31/hour

Class Characteristics

This is the entry-level class in the professional Librarian series and is designed to provide incumbents with the experience and training necessary to plan, organize, and provide library program services at the journey level with a minimum of supervision.  Work may involve assignments in any library service area that requires the application of fundamental library science principles and practices including children’s services, young adult services, adult services, reference, collection development, or cataloging.  Assignments are typically limited in scope and within the design and procedural framework established by higher-level employees.  As knowledge and experience are gained, the work becomes broader in scope; assignments are more varied, and are performed with more independence.  Incumbents may serve as “Person-in-Charge” for assigned shifts.  This class is distinguished from Library Associate in that it has greater responsibilities requiring a broader scope and depth of technical knowledge and professional training.  The class is further distinguished from Librarian II in that the latter is the full journey professional level, capable of performing the full range of assigned functions with considerable independence and judgment.  The Librarian I may promote to Librarian II after gaining sufficient experience to perform competently at the full journey level.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael is hiring for the temporary position of Facilities Repair Worker in the Public Works Department.  This is a full-time fixed-term position working 37.5 hours per week under general supervision.  Continued appointment in this position is contingent upon funding and job performance.  This is an “at will” position.  Fixed-Term appointments may be made for up to a three-year period.  Duties include, but are not limited to: performs carpentry, plumbing, interior remodeling, painting, and a variety of other work in the maintenance and repair of City buildings, structures and facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to use and operate basic hand and power tools.  Ability to make basic arithmetical calculations.  Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions with a minimum of supervision as well as communicate and work cooperatively with others.

THE POSITION

The Maintenance Services Division of the Public Works Department is seeking an experienced Building Maintenance Worker to provide maintenance support for all public facilities, such as City Hall, Historic Homes, Fire Stations, Police Department, Recreation facilities and Rental Housing.  This position is focused on the area of general maintenance, with an emphasis on locksmithing.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

- General Assignments
- Work independently to install, troubleshoot, repair, service, and maintain all aspects within the scope of general maintenance and locksmithing.

The Position:

This is manual labor work at the skilled level, involved in the maintenance of landscape and hardscape, including plants, shrubs, trees, water features, grounds, parking lots, athletic fields and facilities using appropriate tools and related equipment for a college district. Under general supervision, public contact is primarily with department staff and the campus community, but may include vendors and contractors to exchange instructions and other information regarding regular and special projects, set-ups, and other assignments. The position requires a broad knowledge of gardening, landscaping, maintenance and repair of hardscape, as well as knowledge of applicable safety procedures, equipment and supplies. A moderate degree of independent judgment and creativity are required to plan the procedures required to complete daily and special projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

10. Uses hand tools to work soil and remove weeds, undergrowth and debris from college grounds and landscaped and hardscaped areas
11. Drives a motor vehicle to pick up and deliver equipment, supplies, debris, and other items
12. Uses a variety of non-restricted chemicals to exterminate weeds, insects, rodents, aphids, and other pests
13. Performs a variety of aesthetic measures, such as raking leaves; loading and unloading brush, branches, rubbish and materials; cleaning drains, culverts, stream beds, pathways, sidewalks; sweeping and maintaining parking lots and grounds; and installing, relocating and maintaining site furnishings
14. Programs, monitors, troubleshoots, and repairs irrigation systems and water features
15. Assists in campus evacuations, building lock-downs, flood and spill cleanups, and other emergency preparedness and response actions
16. Paints exterior horizontal surfaces, such as parking lot striping and curbs, as well as unoccupied structures, such as storage sheds and/or containers, and similar assignments
17. Inventories grounds and related equipment and supplies and makes recommendations for and/or executes the purchase or repair of equipment, chemicals and supplies
18. Performs other related duties as assigned

Definition:

Under the supervision of the Building Official, the Building Inspector performs technical review of plans and building permit applications for completeness and general compliance with State regulations, model codes and local ordinances.  Conducts field inspections of building construction, reconstruction and alterations at various stages and at completion to assure compliance with approved plans and specifications. Building Inspectors are assigned as generalists, performing plan reviews and field inspections on both residential and commercial property.  All Inspectors are expected to be able to perform inspections in all specialty areas – building, electrical, mechanical and plumbing. 

The Building Inspector’s primary duty will be to perform over the counter plan review services and assist with code interpretations and questions while maintaining a helpful and professional demeanor with the general public, architects, designers and owner-builders and the Building Division front counter.

SKILL AND ABILITY TO: Analyze, interpret and accurately check plans and specifications; perform complex building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical and green building inspections; learn applicable municipal codes, urban run-off management plans, and zoning ordinance codes; understand, interpret, explain and apply laws and regulations; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and the public; and communicate effectively orally and in writing.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 2+ years’ experience as a Building Inspector or other related building department position with the appropriate state certifications OR 3+ years’ experience in the major building trades with appropriate state certifications OR significant and recent study in an accredited Building Inspection Technology College program with the ability to obtain the appropriate certifications.
• Public agency work experience as a Building Inspector is preferred

• ICC certification as a Building, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical Inspector is required
• Additional certification by ICC as a Plan Examiner is highly desirable.
• Must possess a valid California driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
• Must have outstanding interpersonal communication and customer service skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

To perform duties related to reviewing and approving building construction plans ensuring compliance with pertinent codes and ordinances; and to provide assistance to the public with respect to permit process, code application, and code interpretation.

 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the entry level class in the Building Plans Examiner series.  Positions in this class typically have little or no directly related work experience and work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.  The Building Plans Examiner I class is distinguished from the II level by the performance of less than the full range of duties assigned to the II level.  Incumbents work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to general supervision as procedures and processes of assigned area of responsibility are learned.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives immediate supervision from an assigned supervisor and may receive technical and functional supervision from the Building Inspection Supervisor.

 

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Examine construction documents for proposed structures for completeness and conformity with all codes and ordinances including structural, mechanical, electrical and energy calculations, safety and health features, use of material, placements in the property, and setbacks.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge of:

• Types of building construction materials and methods; building and zoning codes and ordinances enforceable by the City.
• Pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances enforceable by the City, including the adopted Model Building, Electrical, Plumbing and Mechanical Codes.
• Procedures and techniques of plan review.
• Principles of structural design and engineering mathematics.

Experience:

• One year of increasingly responsible building plan examination, architectural design, drafting, and/or inspection experience.

 

Training:

• Completion of thirty units from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, architecture or a related field.  (Note: Possession of a valid I.C.C certificate as a Building Plans Examiner can substitute for the thirty units from an accredited college or university.)

 

License or Certificate:

• Possession of a valid California driver's license by the date of appointment.
• Possession of a valid I.C.C. certificate as a Building Plans Examiner is required within one year of appointment to the position.

THE POSITION
Glenn County is recruiting individuals to fill three regular full time positions and multiple part time Public Service Employee positions. The HHSA Mental Health Counselor, Senior I/II position at the Glenn County Health and Human Services Agency performs a variety of complex professional duties in the provision of outpatient and crisis mental health services to individuals and groups in the Behavioral Health Division. The HHSA Mental Health Counselor, Senior II is distinguished from the HHSA Mental Health Counselor, Senior I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, requiring attainment of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Marriage Family Therapist License. This position will require working in the crisis, adult and youth and family units. Bilingual and bi-cultural individuals are preferred. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week for the full time position and up to twenty-five (25) hours per week for the part time position. We are seeking a customer service driven professional to perform routine library work in materials support for Collection Services at Rohnert Park Headquarters.

Provides excellent customer service, performs a variety of clerical and technical library work related to materials support, circulation activities, and direct customer service within the Public Services Division; performs basic activities in acquisitions and processing, cataloging, and/or inter-library loan within the Collection Services Division according to defined procedures; and performs related work as required.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

This class works under general supervision, by a Supervising Library Specialist, Branch Manager, or other Librarian classification, wherein the assigned duties require the exercise of judgment or choice among pre-established actions, sometimes without clear precedents, but with concern for the consequences of the action. The employee may or may not work in close proximity to his/her supervisor. At the Public Services level, the employee may provide branch specific assistance to volunteers, Library Aides, and other inexperienced staff. At the Collection Services level, the employee may provide work direction and assistance to volunteers, Library Aides and other inexperienced staff in specific area of function.

 

Class Characteristics          

This is the journey-level materials support and customer service class in the clerical and technical library support series, assigned responsibility for the full range of circulation or collection services activities, including direct patron support and routine ordering, receiving, cataloging, and processing tasks.  Incumbents advise patrons of library policies, procedures, and services, resolve customer issues within established policies, and provide basic technological and reference support to customers.  Responsibilities also include assisting and training patrons on self-service equipment, answering routine directional and informational questions, and referring the more difficult technical or involved questions to appropriate paraprofessional or professional library staff. 

 

At this level, incumbents work independently within identified parameters and resolve problems of diverse scope where analysis requires evaluation of identifiable factors.  Maintaining confidentiality and security of patron accounts is an important part of the position.  Performance expectations include the application of broad job knowledge in performance of the full range of responsibilities within the classification.  This classification also performs shelving work and incumbents may provide general administrative and clerical support as needed.

Physical Demands

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office and library setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone.  This classification primarily works indoors and requires movement between work areas.  Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve materials and data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment.  Positions in this classification frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach to retrieve and shelve materials.  Employees may be required to either sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.  Incumbents must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items, storage containers, and shelving units weighing an average of 20 pounds, and up to 50 pounds of weight, in order to move materials from one place to another, with the aid of lifting/moving equipment.

 

Environmental Elements

THE POSITION

Tri-City is looking for a special individual to serve as a Clinical Therapist I/II for the Children’s Access to Care (ATC) Team. The Clinical Therapist I/II position will appeal to individuals are inspired by challenges and opportunities presented in working with an engaged and active community.  The Clinical Therapist I/II will report to a Program Supervisor.

This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing responsibilities including, but not limited to:

• Will meet with individuals in person or talk to them over the
  phone to conduct screenings to ensure individuals meet specialty mental health services.
• Will assist individuals to link to various resources (i.e., managed care plan, Tri-City programs such as the Wellness Center, TCG, Peer Mentors, etc.) and provide warm-handoffs.
• Will complete same day biopsychosocial assessments and treatment plans.
• Will formulate a differential diagnosis concerning the nature of the mental health challenge(s).
• Maintain records of all activities relating to clients’ care and must adhere to Agency and service billing requirements;
• Work on a multidisciplinary team to promote recovery.
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and must have excellent attendance.
