Student Intern Salary Range - $15.86- $22.65/hourly (unbenefited)

Graduate Student Intern Salary Range - $20.52- $30.30/hourly (unbenefited)

This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

About the City Facilities Architectural Services Division Internship:

The Development Services Division Intern will be assigned to assist for the following projects and perform duties such as: provide counter support for Development Services, including greeting customers and directing inquiries, respond to general email and phone inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate information is provided, assist with initial intake of requests, helping route items to the correct staff or workflow. DEFINITION

The Electrical Instrumentation Technician series is responsible for installation, testing, calibration, maintenance, and repair of process control and the telemetry data acquisition systems, and electrical distribution systems in the Wastewater Division.
 

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Electrical Instrumentation Technician I is the entry level classification. Individuals are required to attend electrical and instrument classes and will learn on the job to perform basic electrical and instrument duties under close supervision.

Electrical Instrumentation Technician II is the semi-skilled subjourney classification. This classification is distinguished from the Electrical Instrumentation Technician I classification in that the Electrical Instrumentation Technician II is required to have previous experience and knowledge of fundamental electrical theory and techniques, usually attainable through the Electrical Instrumentation Technician I classification. Performs and assists in performing electrical work of a greater complexity than that of the Electrical Instrumentation Technician I.

Electrical Instrumentation Technician III is the full journey level class in this series. Performs the most complex duties.
 

BASIC EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform basic electrical and instrument repairs and maintenance duties;
• Assist in the maintenance, repair alteration, and installation of a variety of electrical and instrumentation systems and equipment. 
• Use measuring, calibrating, and testing instruments and hand power tools common to the trade.  
• Maintain record on equipment maintenance and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.

The City of Foster City is looking for a dedicated and motivated individual to join our team as a Senior Engineering Technician in the Public Works Department. The position plays a key role in the oversight and management of work in the Public Right of Way and requires experience in project inspection, construction, and field operations. The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing traffic control plans, and familiarity with underground utility work for water, wastewater, stormwater, communications, gas, and electric systems.  This role is responsible for reviewing and processing transportation and encroachment permit applications, and as such, proficiency with computers and the ability to learn and use various software applications, is highly desirable.  The Senior Engineering Technician works on a diverse range of projects that directly impact the community, making strong communication skills essential for successful interactions with the public, utility companies, and contractors.    

This position is suited for someone who can take ownership of wide ranging assignments with minimal supervision. The ideal candidate is able to work independently coordinate engineering support functions and collaborate effectively with internal staff and external stakeholders.  

Education and Experience
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: Graduation from high school or the equivalent; college courses in engineering or drafting desirable.

Experience: Four years of full-time, paid experience in municipal engineering, including drafting and surveying. Up to two years of college education in engineering or drafting may be substituted for the required full-time experience on a year for year basis.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process.

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. The Parks department will make the hiring decision.

DEFINITION

Account Clerk I: Under supervision, perform clerical work of difficulty in connection with preparing, maintaining or checking financial or statistical records; receive and receipt money; operate office accounting machines; do related work as required.

Account Clerk II: Under general supervision, perform difficult and complex bookkeeping and financial clerical work requiring the application of sound financial record keeping practices; supervise the work of clerical assistants; do related work as required. Positions in this class require frequent use of a high degree of independent judgment and interpretative ability. Duties do not always follow standard routines; the employee recommends changes in methods and procedures when necessary. The class is required to have operating knowledge of financial systems and greater overall experience.

Positions in the Account Clerk II positions are flexibly staffed and normally filled from advancement from the Account Clerk I class, or when filled from the outside, require specific accounting experience. Appointment to this class requires the employee to be performing substantially the full range of account clerk duties and to meet the qualifications for the class. The class requires the ability to work independently exercising judgment and initiative and a greater knowledge of the City’s financial system. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to: Perform clerical work of average difficulty; prepare basic financial reports, maintain journals, ledgers and complex files; operate adding and calculating machines;

Experience:

Account Clerk I: One year of clerical experience involving financial record keeping and general office work; six (6) months of experience using computer spreadsheets is desirable.

Account Clerk II: Three years of experience in financial and general record keeping, including six (6) months of personal computer spreadsheet experience. Two years of college (60 semester units or 90 quarter units) can be substituted for one year of required work experience. Three (3) semester units or five (5) quarter units of college level computer course work can be substituted for the spreadsheet experience.

Education:

Account Clerk I: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Senior Fiscal Analyst in the State Budget unit of the Budget Services Sacramento office.

The Senior Fiscal Analyst provides advanced, complex, and specialized analytical and technical budget support to the Judicial Council Facilities Services Capital Outlay program. This position provides fiscal oversight for capital outlay projects and manages the ongoing project close-out activities. Fiscal oversight responsibilities include analyzing and preparing statewide budget reports for management, controlling capital outlay appropriations, reviewing and coding requisitions, preparing and reviewing Capital Outlay budget change proposals (COBCPs), reviewing the updated five-year capital outlay plan, and managing the bond sale process. The position conducts monthly fiscal forecasting for each project by appropriation, line item, and category of expense, that are completed three times a year for every project. The position is also responsible for ensuring project compliance with appropriation availability periods, recommends reappropriations when needed, forecasts cash flow to ensure cash flow loans remain sufficient and advises Facilities Services staff on project scope, cost, and budget changes during the bi-monthly budget meetings with Facilities Services management.

THE POSITION
Under the supervision of a shift lead, the Public Safety Dispatcher processes emergency and non-emergency calls for service; dispatches police, fire, medical, and other emergency equipment, by telephone or radio, utilizing complex technical aids, such as Computer Aided Dispatch systems (CAD); and performs other related duties as assigned.
 
The ideal candidate will possess a POST Basic Certificate, EMD Certificate, EFD Certificate, and knowledge in all disciplines of Police/Fire and EMS dispatching and one year as a Public Safety Dispatcher with a demonstrated background in the operation of modern Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.  Note:  The POST Basic Certificate is required at time of application. Class Characteristics
Deputy Director of Public Works – City Engineer is a Deputy Director level engineering classification responsible for overseeing the City’s engineering functions and performing a wide variety of engineering duties requiring independent judgement and initiative in prioritizing, scheduling, assigning and coordinating work. This class requires registration as a professional engineer. This class is distinguished from all other engineering classes by its supervisory and administrative responsibilities over a wide range of duties as well as the requirement to perform the more complex engineering and project management assignments. Assignments and projects may be long-term or may constitute a major portion of a continuous or comprehensive engineering or construction program. Typically assigned functional areas include private development review and plan checking, oversight of regulatory compliance (e.g., Municipal Regional Permit [NPDES], Cal-OSHA, SWRCB/RWQCB non-utility related orders), waste franchise, Sierra Point Lighting & Landscape District, and Capital Improvement Program.

Supervision Received and Exercised:

Receives general direction from the Public Works Department Head.

• Recommends and assists in development and implementation of departmental policies, goals, and objectives.
