The Event Security Operations Manager (SM3) plays a vital senior role in the management of security, medical response and emergency contingency plans for events occurring on the Stanford campus. The person hired for this position will manage the Finance & Administration Division and provide staff support, financial guidance, administration, and leadership within the Controller's Office.

THE DEPARTMENT:

The Department of Public Works (PW) is committed to providing the highest standards of service delivery to its citizens as it works to build, maintain, and update the City’s civic infrastructure. PW is comprised of approximately 50 employees with a general budget of $15 million and a Capital Improvement Program (CIP) budget that ranges between $10–$40 million depending on the City’s annual infrastructure needs. THE POSITION:

There is one vacant position, and the successful applicant will be offered one of the following positions based on qualifications and experience: Traffic Engineer or Senior Civil Engineer. The Senior Civil Engineer position will have an emphasis in the traffic division. The position will perform the following essential job duties:

• Manage City-wide traffic system.
• Oversee City's traffic signal system and maintenance contracts and directs necessary changes to modify the system.
• Issue work orders to make changes to existing roadway system to improve safety and capacity.
• Perform traffic signal timing and operation.
• Conduct transportation modeling to assess the City's future traffic conditions and subsequently assist to develop policies to evaluate proposed developments.
• Participate in Traffic Coordinating Committee to address complaints, requests for changes, and neighborhood calming techniques and studies.
• Analyze transportation impact studies, recommends mitigation, and recommends project conditions of approval.
• Meet with other department staff to address traffic engineering issues.
• Develop project designs, applies for grant funding, obtains permits from Caltrans and other agencies. Coordinate with other public and private agencies.
• Conduct transportation planning referrals and review.
• Perform accident reconstruction to determine primary collision factor. Determines changes needed in roadway.
• Prepare technical reports for use by City attorneys and advise attorneys on traffic engineering matters.
• Prepare reports and technical applications for grants from Federal and State sources. Make presentations to selection committees.
• Perform complex and detailed analysis of roadway network using sophisticated computer software programs and methodologies.
• Perform related duties as required.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The successful candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise in traffic engineering principles and have strong organizational, planning, communication, and leadership skills that allow them to effectively manage different aspects of the department’s Traffic Division. They will also have a strong sense of customer service, tactfulness, and the ability to help find solutions to complex service issues for the public. They will use their communication skills and strengths to advocate for various modes of transportation including bicycle, pedestrian, transit and vehicular. They will be flexible, with the ability to adjust priorities at short notice and respond to emergencies. They will be able to think analytically but also be very decisive when needed.

Prior supervisory and/or municipal engineering experience is desired. The successful candidate will lead by example to foster a positive, creative, and productive work environment for all staff. The ideal candidate will use their interpersonal skills and technical engineering expertise to motivate the team to meet the goals and objectives of the department and City. Plan check functions include ensuring permits are issued only for those plans that meet all state and local codes regulating life-safety, quality of life, energy conservation, and structural safety standards. Accountant I

Accountant II

This is the full journey-level classification in the series. Positions at this level are distinguished from the I-level by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently, and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Successful performance of the work requires thorough knowledge of governmental accounting practices and procedures, fund accounting, and fiscal management.

The positions in the Accountant class series are flexibly staffed. The City of Sunnyvale is searching for a Budget Manager in the Department of Finance. The Budget Manager is a division-level manager responsible for developing, administering, and overseeing the City's sophisticated Operating and Capital Budgets and Twenty-Year Financial Plans. This position participates in the development of the City's financial systems, conducts and presents complex financial information and analysis to executive management and others to assist in policy decision making. This classification receives administrative direction from the Director of Finance or Assistant Director of Finance and exercises direct supervision over management, professional, technical and clerical staff in the Budget Division.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, accounting, finance, business or public administration or a closely related field, AND

Five years of increasingly responsible management and/or administrative analytical work experience which includes a minimum of three years of budget experience.
