Under direction, the Custodian performs routine manual cleaning tasks in public buildings, schools, other facilities, and surrounding areas. 

Examples of essential duties include but not limited to the following:

• Sweeps, scrubs, mops, spots and waxes floors; vacuums and cleans rugs and carpets.
• Cleans, dusts and polishes cabinets, furniture and woodwork; empties and cleans waste receptacles and ashtrays.
• Cleans stairways and hallways; cleans and disinfects restrooms and replenishes supplies; may perform minor duties in unplugging sinks and toilets; cleans offices and lobbies; cleans ceilings, walls, window shades, light fixtures and venetian blinds.
• Assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment.
• Turns out lights and locks doors and windows.
• Operates scrubbers, buffers, waxers and related electrical appliances and equipment; may tend simple, low pressure heating and ventilating systems; may check water levels in gauges and periodically perform routine servicing to boilers and pumps.
• In recreational areas, cleans auditoriums, gymnasiums, club houses and locker rooms; picks up papers and rubbish in play areas; hangs flags and decorations; reports evidences of vandalism, broken plumbing, windows, doors, locks, etc.
• May wash interior glass partitions and interior and exterior windows which can be easily reached from floor or ground level.
• As school custodian, may supervise and maintain order among students during recess periods; distributes milk or other refreshments to students; performs minor duties in repairing  chairs, desks and toys.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

This position prepares hot and cold food for inmates; supervises and instructs inmates in the preparation and serving of meals to other inmates in a detention facility; receives, stores, and maintains ingredients used for meals; and monitors and maintains security of the kitchen facility, equipment, and inmate workers. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. 
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Checks menus and number of persons to be fed; instructs inmates in obtaining necessary ingredient for meals and preparing work area; instruct inmates in a variety of chopping, cutting, mixing, grating, and food preparation tasks; instructs inmates on the operation of stoves and other equipment.
• Prepares or supervises the preparation of special meals for inmates with medical problems.
• Supervises inmates in the cleaning of all equipment and kitchen work area; counts and keeps logs on all knives. Assists in keeping current inventory of kitchen and food supplies.
• Receives and checks supplies to ensure that proper amounts and types have been delivered; instructs inmates in transporting supplies to proper areas for storage.
   

The Community  Action Program Specialist determines client’s needs for program services and provides case management and/or crisis intervention in one or more various program areas. The Community Action Program Specialist II is the full journey level class within the series and is   distinguished from the entry level class by the performance of the full range of duties, including the more complex cases. This position is full-time and is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Analyzes clients’ financial and eligibility information to determine initial or continuing eligibility for programs.
• Secures case documentation, records, and/or other information from other agencies as required.
• Interview and evaluates clients for specific program services eligibility and/or employment opportunities, including service needs assessment and crisis intervention, to assist individuals/families in achieving self-sufficiency. 
• Conducts orientation workshops for new and returning participants; explains regulations, rules and policies to clients and apprises them of their rights and responsibilities for program participation.
• Receives and responds to inquiries regarding program services from clients, other agencies, and the general public.

BASIC EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform a variety of unskilled/semi-skilled maintenance or custodial duties involving manual labor of facilities, parks, storm drains, streets, etc.
• Clean and inspect facilities for vandalism or potential hazards.
• Sanitize surfaces, repair minor plumbing problems, diagnose basic sewer issues, replace components on fixtures.
• Maintain area(s) as assigned including parks and public buildings, performing basic repairs, inspections and landscaping.
• Load and unload supplies and materials.
• Assist with various areas of public works such as minor asphalt repairs, brush removal, facility repairs, stewardship of protected species, etc.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a Housing Specialist I to join the Housing Division in the Community Development Department. Under direction of the Housing Officer, the Housing Specialist I will play a key role in the planning and development of new affordable housing, creating new housing programs, implementing the Housing Element, applying for grants/funding to support affordable housing, and monitoring housing legislation. The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an employment list for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher within the Sheriff’s Department.  The incumbent receives 9-1-1 system sheriff, fire, medical emergency and rescue calls; dispatches sheriff, fire and medical personnel following established procedures; maintains communication with officers in the field to ensure safety and provide back-up and information; provides relief coverage for the records unit; and performs related work as assigned. THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael is recruiting for a Program Coordinator in the Recreation Division of our Library and Recreation Department.  This position is responsible for overseeing operations of the Terra Linda Community Pool, including hiring, training, scheduling of temp/seasonal lifeguards, swim instructors, cashiers for approximately 100 employees, for a 9-month pool season.  The Program Coordinator will develop, implement, and oversee programing for the pool and be responsible for developing the pool schedule.  An understanding of safety, customer service, managing relationships with user groups, problem solving, and leadership skills are important for this program area.  Although an aquatics background is preferred, it is not required at time of hire.  The Program Coordinator will also support the Terra Linda Community Center with program development, special events, rentals, customer service, marketing and other tasks as assigned. 

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to and may vary with assignment):

• Provides direction to and supervises regular, temporary and volunteer staff, including selecting, monitoring, training, scheduling and determining workloads; assists with hiring, disciplinary and evaluation processes.
• Assists in the development, recommendation and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for the assigned department division(s).
• Participates in the preparation and administration of an assigned recreation center or specialized recreation program budget.
• Plans, evaluates and coordinates programs, classes, athletic activities and special events, including scheduling facilities, ensuring facilities are set up, scheduling trips and hiring coaches.
• Monitors the day-to-day operations of programs and events, including making site visits, handling and resolving complaints not requiring the attention of a supervisor and ensuring that programs and events have required materials and supplies.
• Formulates and organizes program plans and schedules for seasonal and year-round activities and special events. 
• Acts as liaison and representative with a variety of advisory boards, commissions, community groups, law enforcement agencies, schools and councils.
• Creates program flyers, brochures, catalogs and newsletters, including determining content, layout, materials and distribution methods; prepares activity and operating reports.
• Enforces safety and operating procedures and provides for maintenance needs including compliance with health and safety codes and building codes.
• Books facility rentals for customers; attends to facility users needs, including permits and equipment; prints weekly event schedule and ensures that all setups are done, manages facility budget, including maintenance and supplies.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

To be eligible for this position you must have knowledge of/ability to:

• Good customer service techniques.
• Principles and techniques of directing group, social and recreational activities.
• Principles and practices of managing recreational programs for community parks, community centers, youth and senior centers, aquatic centers and/or athletic facilities.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Class C driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Must have American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (or obtain within 4 months of hire).
• Must have American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (or obtain within 1 year from time of hire).
• Must have American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (or obtain within 1 year from time of hire).

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in recreation administration, physical education, leisure services or a related field AND
• Two (2) years of full-time or its equivalent of recreation experience, OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. About the Sheriff’s Department :

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

This position will perform a variety of responsible law enforcement and crime prevention work, including patrolling assigned areas, answering calls and complaints, investigating crimes, serving civil papers, and providing court room security; enforce all federal and state laws and local ordinances related to public safety and welfare.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs routine patrol duties, including but not limited to patrolling assigned areas of the County; responding to emergency calls and/or public calls for assistance; investigating disturbances, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, vehicle accidents and other crimes; checking buildings for physical security, etc.

• Administers first aid in emergency situations.

• Issues traffic citations.
