PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, pesticides or herbicides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. Ross Valley Sanitary District is seeking an Inspector excited to join our high performing team. Inspectors work with contractors, homeowners and real estate agents to ensure construction projects meet District standards while educating and providing excellent customer service to the public.

Under general supervision of the Senior Engineer, the Inspector performs advanced, complex, and critical inspections of District infrastructure. Working independently, the Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with District regulations and codes related to the repair of District infrastructure, construction of private sewers, and collection system pump stations. Inspectors are also responsible for ensuring safety measures are applied at job sites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Check and review construction plans for construction and repair on public and private sewers.
• Perform civil, structural, mechanical, and basic electrical inspections on construction and repair on District sewer mains, and private sewer laterals performed by contractors or other agencies.

As a member of the City's unclassified service, this is an "at-will" position.  The incumbent serves at the discretion of the City Manager.  An incumbent in this classification: demonstrates strong ethical, professional, and service-oriented leadership and interpersonal skills; sets a good example; and correctly applies the tenets of the City's Code of Ethics and Values.

The annual salary range for this position is $119,994.36 - $155,300.16.  This position will be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

Education
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or closely related field. A Master's degree in Public or Business Administration or closely related field is desirable.

Experience
One (1) year of experience performing analytical work.
 
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES
Possession of an appropriate, valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for duration of employment.
 
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
 Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.

 Incumbents in this position are required to file a Conflict of Interest statement upon assuming office, annually, and upon leaving office, in accordance with City Manager Directive 100.
