The Department: 

The Santa Clara City Library is a department of the City and has positioned itself as a dynamic community hub, providing access to information, literacy resources, educational programming, and promotes civic engagement in Santa Clara. The Library Department is organized into seven divisions: Administration, Adult Services, Branch Services, Customer Services, Facilities, Technical and Technology Services and Youth Services. Santa Clara City Library has recently finalized and in the ongoing process to implement its new Strategic and Facilities Master Plans that will support the direction of future library services.

The Position: 

The Library Assistant I is the entry-level classification in the Library Assistant series. This recruitment is to fill a full-time position at the Northside Branch Library, that serves the diverse and growing community in the northern part of the City of Santa Clara. As a community-focused branch, it provides welcoming, responsive library services that support lifelong learning, literacy, and community connection.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This Property Tax Specialist is a single classification in the Controller’s Office. The incumbent performs journey-level work in the processing and apportionment of secured and unsecured property taxes. • Apportion monies, including secured, unsecured, impounded, redeemed, and other taxes.

• Prepares and submits tax revenue reports required by the State Controller, the State Board of Equalization, and Community College Districts.

• Calculates estimated levy based on ERAF and AB8 factors.

• Reconciles and allocates supplemental tax apportionment to taxing agencies.

• Reconciles and apportions secured and unsecured taxes, including advances and clean up.

• Maintains accurate records of disbursements and reconciling worksheets, ledgers, and journal entries to account for apportionments.

• Analyze and prepare varied tax reports.

• Performs basic accounting processes and functions.

• Regularly engage with taxpayers and other customers, delivering prompt, professional, and high-quality customer service. Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Experience and Education:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and skills is qualifying.  
 
A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skills is:
  
Education: Graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or a closely related field.
  
Experience: One year of responsible accounting work, preferably in a governmental or public agency, which includes work experience in property tax accounting.
 

Knowledge of:

• Working knowledge of the laws, ordinances, and regulations governing the financial operation of the County, especially those regarding property tax accounting.

THE POSITION

Under general direction of the Executive Director, the Strategic Initiatives Director plans, develops, and leads high-priority organizational initiatives that advance Tri-City’s strategic goals and system transformation efforts. The Summer Learning Challenge is a summer library program that encourages kids, teens and adults to read or listen to books in the summer. The Challenge is a fun, interactive program for the whole family that includes free book giveaways, activities, raffles, and prizes for kids ages 0-18. The program starts on June 1 and runs through the end of August.

We are looking for enthusiastic high school interns to support Library staff with activities both at the libraries and at summer outreach sites throughout the City of Redwood City to promote and support the Summer Learning Challenge. The interns will be responsible for planning and delivering library programs, providing them with opportunities where their voices are elevated and valued.

Example of Duties: Under the supervision of a Librarian perform various duties as assigned for the operation of the Summer Learning Challenge. The Principal Financial Analyst – Treasury plays a strategic role in managing the financial planning, analytics, and reporting functions for all agencies: San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans), the Peninsula Joint Powers Board (Caltrain), the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA), and the San Mateo County Express Lanes Joint Powers Authority (SMC-ELJPA). The incumbent will collaborate with finance and business leaders to lead high-impact analysis and reporting, deliver recommendations on critical decisions, and manage long-term financial projections. The role will design, analyze, and implement management reports to turn analysis into action and insight. 

Essential Functions & Duties:

• Lead and perform advanced treasury functions across cash management, debt administration, investment oversight, and liquidity planning for SamTrans and related agencies (Caltrain/PCJPB, TA, ELJPA).
• Develop, maintain, and analyze short-term and long-term cash-flow forecasts to support operating needs, capital programs, debt service, and liquidity risk management.
• Support and lead activities related to debt issuance, refunding, and ongoing debt compliance, including preparation of financing analyses, debt service schedules, covenant monitoring, continuing disclosure, and arbitrage/rebate coordination.
• Prepare and review Board-level reports, presentations, and staff reports related to treasury, debt, investments, and cash-flow matters, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with governing policies and disclosure standards.
• Oversee and perform investment analysis and reporting in compliance with California Government Code, District investment policies, and best practices; monitor portfolio performance, market conditions, and interest-rate trends.
• Coordinate with external stakeholders including bond counsel, municipal advisors, underwriters, trustees, banks, rating agencies, auditors, and investment managers.

Examples of Essential Duties:

• Perform advanced, independent treasury analysis in the areas of cash management, debt administration, investment oversight, and liquidity planning to support the District’s financial operations.
• Lead and support debt-related activities for a bond issuance, including preparation of financing analyses, monitoring debt service and covenant compliance, and coordinating continuing disclosure and post-issuance requirements.
• Manage and reconcile banking, trustee, and investment accounts, ensuring accuracy, proper authorization, and adherence to internal control standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, economics, finance, accounting or closely related field.   
• Four (4) years of full-time relevant and progressive experience in leading financial analysis, financial forecasting/budgeting/planning, and operation/business analysis.

As an Accountant with the City, you will perform technical and administrative accounting work and apply accounting principles and methods to maintaining fiscal records and systems of the City.

The current vacancy will have a focus on payroll activities. Other duties may include projects such as internal audit and control, financial analysis, budget preparation, purchasing, fixed assets, reconciliation of accounting records, special projects, and related accounting work.

Typical Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a degree in accounting, finance, business or public administration, or a closely related field, plus three (3) years of professional accounting or municipal finance experience.  Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may also be considered.  Review the complete job description in the document linked here.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is currently $96,917 to $118,929. This position is scheduled to receive a general wage increase in January 2027 and January 2028 in accordance with the Teamsters Local 350, IBT Mid-Management Unit Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This is a represented position.

Note:

• Remote work is not available for this position.

The City of Patterson’s Finance Department is seeking to fill two (2) part-time Cashier positions and to establish an Eligibility List.  Under direct supervision, the Cashier receives, accounts for, and reconciles cash, checks, and electronic payments. This position is responsible for collecting and maintaining revenue and transaction records.  Incumbents receive, post, issue receipts, reconcile, and balance deposits daily.  Revenues collected include utility billing payments, various municipal services, and recreational program fees.  Must accurately collect,  account for, and safeguard all funds, including tallying and reconciling monies received at the end of each shift. Must be able to generate and reconcile revenue reports.  Operate a multi-line phone system, provide information on department and program areas, and refer inquiries as appropriate. Greet and assist customers at the front counter, via telephone, or email by responding to inquiries professionally and courteously. Performs related duties as required and assigned.  

This position is established for 19 hours a week and will be working weekdays during regular business hours.
