About the Communication Division

The Communications Division implements environmental-specific media, outreach, and marketing activities to support the health of our community and environment. The communication services division includes strategic communications planning, multi-cultural community engagement, media relations, social media, collateral development, and website management.The Environmental Service Department is recruiting for a Senior Public Information Representative within the department's Communications Division. This position plays a key role in the department's recycling and sustainability programs. This staff supports the Public Information Manager and supervises three staff members.

Provide complex and advanced technical assistance in support of managing and implementing Valley Water’s cyber security systems on the Enterprise network and SCADA/ Industrial Control System/ Operational Technology network. The Associate Electrical Engineer will support the 24 x 7 continuous Water Utility raw, treated, and purified water operations, capital improvement projects, annual maintenance work plan, and asset management plans. They will be responsible for the planning, design, development, implementation, modification, installation, and maintenance of the Water Utility's critical electrical distribution systems in the area of water pumping, conveyance and treatment while ensuring work quality and adherence to professional codes, standards, and Valley Water specifications.

The Water and Sewer Utilities Department is a utility enterprise that provides planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the City's water distribution system, sewer collection system, and recycled water system. The Position: 

The Utility Crew Supervisor is a lead supervisory classification in the Water and Sewer Utility Department. An incumbent in this classification is responsible for performing the most difficult and responsible technical duties and supervising the work of an assigned crew in a specialty area such as water construction and maintenance, water meter testing and maintenance, and sewer system maintenance. The Utility Crew Supervisor is distinguished from the Assistant Water Superintendent in that the latter is responsible for overseeing a Program in the Water Construction, Maintenance, and Operations Division.

License/Certifications:

• A valid California Class A or B Commercial driver's license is required at time of application and for the duration of employment.
• A valid Collection System Maintenance Certificate (Grade 2 or above) issued by the California Water Environment Association is required within twelve (12) months of appointment and for the duration of employment.

The following is required when assigned to the water meter testing and maintenance specialty:

• A valid Backflow Prevention Tester Certificate issued by the California-Nevada Section of the American Water Works Association or the Foundation for Cross Connection Control and Hydraulic Research is required within twelve (12) months of appointment and for the duration of employment.

Desirable Qualifications: 

Depending on position assignment, qualifying experience may be required in one of the following specialty areas: water construction and maintenance, water meter testing and maintenance, or sewer system maintenance. 

Other Requirements:  

• May be required to work unusual hours in emergency situations and to be available on an "on-call" basis as assigned.
• May be subject to drug and/or alcohol testing as mandated by federal regulations.
• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.

The Department of Public Works is recruiting for a Chief of Surveys to provide the following typical duties and responsibilities which may include but are not limited to:

We are seeking an innovative and proactive Building Official with a positive, forward-thinking perspective. The Building Official will manage all building division functions (building permit issuance, plan check, and building inspections). The position reports to the Community Development Director. The Building Official will assist in integrating the City’s vision, goals, and people strategy with the business strategy of the Community Development Department; managing, planning, and organizing Community Development services, programs, and operations; developing and implementing policy; crafting and accomplishing department and City objectives, goals, and performance metrics within guidelines established by the City Council and City Manager.
