Additional Salary Information:

Analyst I: $33.24-$40.42 hourly; $69,139.20-$84,073.60 annually

Analyst II: $36.28-$44.09 hourly; $75,462.40-$91,707.20 annually

The actual salary will be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience. Effective July 1, 2018, all employees holding positions in this classification shall receive an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation increase.

About the Position

The Environmental Services Department (ESD) is recruiting to fill an analyst position to become a part of the Customer Information System (CIS) Operations team. The analyst will use the CIS Infinity system to manage revenue generation efforts to ensure the financial sustainability of its programs, services, and facilities. The CIS Infinity system is shared by multiple departments and provides data and billing information for ESD’s utility programs, including recycling, municipal water, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer services as well as a management database for over 350,000 residents and customer calls per year. This position will be a super user in the CIS Infinity application and will provide support for the billing and maintenance functions in CIS Infinity for all ESD programs, including assisting in system updates, maintenance, configuration, and interdepartmental operational support. The analyst position will report to the CIS functional support senior analyst and will be located at the Municipal Water System 3025 Tuers Road, San Jose, CA 95121, but may work offsite as required. 

Typical duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Support billing functions with the primary focus of ensuring accuracy of customer information, services, premises, and rate data in CIS Infinity.

Research and input new premises data for all programs and use outside resources to validate premises information.

Configure rates and fees in CIS Infinity and coordinate updates with internal City departments and divisions.

Monitor interface files with external vendors for bill print and online payments with the goal of validating files, identifying errors, and coordinating the corrections.

Create daily, weekly, and quarterly reports as necessary to monitor data input in CIS Infinity and make corrections as necessary.

Analyze large data files to determine data exceptions, trends, accuracy of data, and other attributes required to complete assigned tasks.

Assist with external site audits to determine types of premises and required services.

Work with multiple internal and external stakeholders in order to maintain the integrity of system information within CIS Infinity.

The San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department Community Risk Reduction Division is currently looking for a part-time per-diem Fire Prevention Inspector I.  This is a part time, non-benefited position, and is limited to 1000 hours in a fiscal year.

Experience:

One year of responsible experience in a variety of building construction or related inspection work that includes working with fire prevention regulations.

Training:

License or Certificate:

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver's license.
• Possession of a Fire Science Certificate is desirable.

THE POSITION

The Community Development Technician performs a wide variety of technical, paraprofessional support, and customer service duties related to building permits, development and planning applications.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

- Assist the general public at the front counter, in writing, or by phone regarding building and development review/permit requirements, and provide General Plan and zoning information. Assist the public in plan review and plan check filing procedures and processing, answer inquiries regarding permit status. Calculate impact, affordable housing, permit and plan check fees.
- Accept building permit and development review applications.
- Review applications for completeness.
- Enter permit data into an automated database.
- Route plans to other City departments and/or outside agencies for review and track plan review process.
- Compile zoning and planning related data as directed by professional-level planning staff.
- Prepare various reports.
- Review minor applications for conformance with ordinances and department's standards, policies and guidelines.
- Calculate various fees, prepare fee estimates and apply fees to permits or other development review billings.
- Review applications for modifications in land use, zoning, setbacks or other planning requirements such as compliance with previously approved conditions of approval.
- Approve and issue administrative over-the-counter permits.
- Create and maintain informational flyers and brochures.
- Coordinate with GIS staff in maintaining the address database.
- Compose correspondence.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.

JOB SUMMARY

Under supervision, Recreation Leaders are responsible for coordinating and conducting a variety of youth recreation activities, special events, and adult sports programs. Recreation programs run from Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.  May also be required to work special events and programs on evenings and weekends. 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

About the Position:  We are looking for organized, self-motivated, independent workers with excellent verbal and written communication skills who are outgoing, detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines while managing multiple competing priorities.  These positions serve as a “hub” for busy departments, keeping the teams organized and providing general administrative support such as maintaining databases; calendaring; generating reports; monitoring and ordering related supplies; assisting in preparing, processing, and tracking purchase requisitions and invoices; and filing.  Department specific responsibilities and tasks include, but not limited to, the following: 

Public Affairs:

Serve as the District liaison for tenants and vendors.  Provide asset management support including vehicle servicing for office fleet, coordinate and schedule repairs, maintain database of service due dates, work orders, service requests, and inspections for all repairs and maintenance on District assets (vehicles, houses, equipment, etc.).  Support aspects of purchasing and distributing merchandise purchased.  Gather and format information for biweekly reports.  Serve as staff liaison for board meeting agenda requests.  The ideal candidate will have advanced Excel and Word skills, and verbal and written bilingual skills (Spanish/English). 

Work Environment:  The District’s offices in Los Altos, California: in a standard, primarily sedentary, office setting, using standard office equipment.

Under general supervision, the Police Records Assistant performs a variety of general administrative, clerical, and customer service duties involved in the maintenance, processing, and distribution of Police records, including serving as a call-taker and assisting in office support duties; and performs related work as required. The Police Records Assistant receives general supervision from a Sergeant and functional direction from the Police Records Specialist; exercises no direct supervision. 

Class Characteristics

This is a non-sworn classification that performs a variety of administrative support to the Police Department including customer service at both the counter and on the telephone, and routine records maintenance, processing and distribution.  This class is distinguished from the Police Records Specialist in that the latter has broader responsibility for police records management training, provides oversight of assigned staff, and performs the most complex work within the function.

• Provides general information regarding department policies, procedures, and regulations, including responding appropriately to complaints, requests for information, and requests for service in person and by telephone; coordinates work with other City departments.
• Verifies and reviews forms and reports for completeness and conformance with established regulations and procedures; applies departmental and unit policies and procedures in determining completeness of applications, records, and files.
• Provides research assistance to officers and other law enforcement personnel as requested.
• Completes in a timely manner, duties related to the administrative functions of the Police Department including a variety of office support such as metering, logging and distributing mail, attending meetings, taking minutes, screening and forwarding telephone calls, ordering and maintaining office and other related supplies, and fingerprinting applicants; logs, packages, and stores evidence, delivering lab samples and providing assistance to officers and other law enforcement personnel as requested.
• Perform Crossing Guard duties, on an as needed basis due to unscheduled absences of Crossing Guards.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, and two years of experience in clerical and customer support duties in the maintenance, processing, and distribution of records, preferably in a police department. Completion of college level course work in criminal justice or a related field is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record

Physical Demands

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. This is primarily a sedentary office classification although standing and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information.  Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 30 pounds with the use of proper equipment, and perform the physical responsibilities of Crossing Guard duties in a variety of weather conditions.

 
Environmental Elements

Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and will have direct exposure to hazardous physical substances when handling evidence and property.  Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. The principal duties of this class are performed in a police station environment with exposure to criminal offenders, mentally ill individuals, and persons potentially infected with communicable diseases.

THE POSITION

Under general direction, the Planning Manager performs a variety of management and complex planning functions which includes, but is not limited to, supervision of the Planning Division staff; management of complex land use projects and plans and related tasks; presentations before the City Council, Planning Commission and other City commissions, committees and community groups; serving as a member of the City’s Management Team and performing related tasks as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Duties may include but are not limited to the following: 

• Plans, organizes, and directs the overall work activities of the Planning Division.
• Reviews and evaluates the job performance of the subordinate personnel, providing training as needed.
• Oversees the review and analysis of development proposals, including participation in the more complex and major projects; interprets and enforces zoning ordinance provisions and other codes related to community standards.
• Conducts presentations on planning recommendations and other planning-related topics before the Planning commission, City Council, community groups and organizations; works with other City departments in coordinating the division’s programs and projects.
• Conducts research and analysis of land use and related issues.
• Prepares environmental review documents.
• Prepares long range planning documents (e.g. General Plan update, Specific Plans, Climate Action Plan, etc.) and updates to the Zoning Ordinance.
• Manages a variety of consultants working on current, long range, and environmental planning projects.
• Participates in regional advisory groups including: Alameda County Transportation Commission Technical Advisory Committee, MTC Regional Advisory Working Group, East Bay Energy Watch Strategic Advisory Committee, Energy Council Technical Advisory Group, and Spare the Air Southern Alameda County Resource Team;
• Manages the City's sustainability efforts.  
• Prepares written reports; may serve as secretary to the Planning Commission, the zoning administrator and act as Economic and Community Development Director in the absence of the Director.
