The County of San Mateo Human Resources Department is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Human Resources Technician (HR Tech). Human Resources Technicians support a variety of specialized divisions within the Human Resources Department, each playing a critical role in delivering services to employees, departments, and the public.

This includes customer service, benefits education, eligibility determination, coordination with vendors and healthcare providers, and analysis and reporting of benefits data.

Risk Management and Workers’ Compensation focuses on employee safety and well-being by supporting workers’ compensation programs, managing claims processes, and assisting with compliance and risk mitigation efforts.

 

Talent Acquisition manages recruitment and selection processes to attract and hire a qualified and diverse workforce. Responsibilities include coordinating recruitments, supporting examinations, managing applicant tracking systems, and assisting with outreach and recruitment marketing strategies.

 

Training and Development supports employee growth through training programs and professional development initiatives, including coordinating training logistics, managing learning management systems, tracking participation and outcomes, and supporting the delivery of learning opportunities across the organization.

 

Workforce Engagement and Community Partnerships supports the County’s workforce and the community through talent pipeline and internship programs designed to foster equity and inclusion; organizational development and employee retention programs.

 

Mail Services distributes internal and postal mail for all County departments; and provides accurate, timely, and cost-effective services to enhance communication and operational efficiency across the County.

THE CURRENT OPPORTUNITY: EMPLOYEE BENEFITS AND WELLNESS

 

There are currently two vacancies within the Employee Benefits and Wellness Division, one is a regular, classified position and the other is a limited term position. Limited term positions are full-time fully benefited, temporary positions. Limited term employees receive medical and dental benefits, like regular employees, and a defined contribution retirement plan (401-A).  This current limited term position is funded for up to one year. 

 

The Employee Benefits and Wellness division administers comprehensive benefits programs and provides direct support to County employees and retirees.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Human Resources Technician:

• Provide frontline customer service via phone, email, and in-person support regarding employee benefits
• Conduct benefits education sessions, trainings, and presentations
• Interpret and explain benefits programs, eligibility, and policies
• Reconcile benefits reports and assist with audits
• Develop dashboards and reports using Excel and other tools
• Analyze and communicate complex benefits data in a clear and concise manner

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Three years of increasingly responsible administrative support work
• At least two years of human resources-related experience

 

Knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of human resource/personnel administration and management
• Federal, State, and local legislation involving human resource/personnel functions
• Organization, procedures, and operating details of the County or similar public agencies
• Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
• Modern office methods, procedures, and equipment, including computer systems and HR-related programs and applications

Woodside Fire Protection District offers an exceptional Cadet Program for individuals interested in a career in the Fire Service. Cadets gain hands-on experience participating in training and public service events. Cadets work 24-hour shifts and ride-along on emergency calls.

Woodside Cadets will work and be involved in:

Emergency calls, firefighter training, public education events, fire prevention, station duties, CERPP, CPR/first aid training. They must also meet monthly hour requirements and attend monthly training drills.

The Judicial Council of California is accepting applications for the position of Senior Fiscal Analyst in the State Budget unit of the Budget Services Sacramento office.

The Senior Fiscal Analyst provides advanced, complex, and specialized analytical and technical budget support to the Judicial Council Facilities Services Capital Outlay program. This position provides fiscal oversight for capital outlay projects and manages the ongoing project close-out activities. Fiscal oversight responsibilities include analyzing and preparing statewide budget reports for management, controlling capital outlay appropriations, reviewing and coding requisitions, preparing and reviewing Capital Outlay budget change proposals (COBCPs), reviewing the updated five-year capital outlay plan, and managing the bond sale process. Summary
Under general supervision, performs technical paraprofessional accounting duties including payroll processing and accounts receivables and payables for Conejo Recreation & Park District (CRPD) and Mountain Recreation & Conservation Authority (MRCA); prepares accounting records and journal entries as necessary; generates reports and reconciles data; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides backup to divisional administrative staff.
• Assists in research and preparation of data for payroll and financial audits and special reports requested by auditors, MRCA administrators, and other public agencies.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to analyze and reconcile fiscal recording, banking and payroll records. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions provided in written or oral form.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an indoor setting working at a terminal keyboard for extended periods of time with the ability to move. at will to and from various points within the Community Center and Aquatics & Fitness Center. Must have ability to communicate orally with the public either in person or via the telephone. Must have ability to produce information in written form and operate office equipment (Computers, scanners, typewriters, calculators, printers, and copiers). It may be necessary to move objects weighing 20 lbs., such as mail, packages, merchandise inventory etc.

 

The Skywalker Fire Brigade Fire Chief (FC) position will supervise, lead, and train the Skywalker Fire Brigade (Department). This is a management position for 9 employees that staffs one private fire station and has the opportunity to build and direct a motivated staff of firefighters. The Fire Chief will oversee three duty Captains and their projects, providing guidance and leadership for the organization. The Fire Chief will oversee daily schedules with regard to standard prevention activities, training, and special events. Oversee fire prevention inspections, lead vegetation management projects including pile burning, shaded fuel breaks, and interact with the property insurance agent and facilities manager for future projects. The Chief will represent the Skywalker Fire Brigade during county-wide meetings for Operations and Training. Skywalker Fire employees provide an extraordinary level of customer service and hospitality to Skywalker Properties' clientele. While this role operates within a Brigade fire department, the position itself is mostly comprised of prevention and training. Skywalker Holdings has several locations. The Fire Brigade operates at The Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, Nicasio, CA. Skywalker is a private organization that operates 5,000 acres of wildland urban interface land with various types of infrastructure within it. At the Presidio (San Francisco, CA) there are numerous buildings that are also included in the prevention responsibilities. The Ranch operates numerous buildings, smaller organization and other operations within the that support the greater vision of Skywalker Properties Ltd.  

Schedule:

This position will work a semi-flexible 40hr work week as to oversee and manage 3 shifts who are on a 48/96 work schedule. Flexibility is determined by the President and subject to department need as well attending any critical meetings with leadership teams. Remote work hours may be included in the flexibility.

Although rare, there are times when the Chief might have to back-fill staffing and/or provide staffing on apparatus due to non-fillable vacancies or training needs.

Education:

• Graduation from high school or equivalent. (College level course work in fire science desirable).

License/Certification: 

• Possession of a valid Commercial Class B California Driver's License OR a valid Class C California Driver's License with a Firefighter Endorsement, as currently provided by law.
• Possession of a valid Emergency Medical Technician-1 (EMT-1) Certificate.

Age:

• Twenty-one (21) years of age for entrance.

Physical Requirements:

• Weight commensurate with height and build. Normal visual functions and visual acuity not less than 20/70 vision in each eye without corrections, and corrected to 20/20 in the better eye and not less than 20/30 in the lesser eye; normal hearing; freedom from color blindness.
