THE POSITION

The City of Rocklin is hiring Academy Graduate Police Officers to join the Rocklin Police Department. Academy Graduate Police Officers will join the department and begin an 18-month program to earn their Basic POST certificate. An example of duties that an Academy Graduate Police Officers will perform under close supervision are:

• Assumes responsibility for the preservation of the public peace and the protection of life and property by preventing crime and enforcing all laws.
• Patrols an assigned area in an automobile, other vehicle, or on foot for the purpose of preventing criminal activity and enforcing traffic laws and regulations; issues citations and makes arrests as necessary; responds to calls for protection of life and property and performs enforcement duties.
• Conducts interviews with victims, complainants, witnesses, and suspects; searches crime scenes for evidence; collects, packages, and preserves evidence; testifies in court.
• Detects, pursues, apprehends, and arrests or detains persons involved in crimes or misconduct; confronts and arrests violent combative subjects; books and transports prisoners; serves warrants and subpoenas.
• Conducts preliminary or follow-up investigations; prepares reports on arrests made, activities performed, and unusual incidents observed.
• Directs traffic and/or performs crowd control during special events and in emergency situations.
• Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints. • Actively develops and fosters community partnerships and demonstrates integrity and professionalism within the organization and community.
• Represents the City and the department in a courteous, professional manner.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Equivalent to graduation from high school, supplemented by 30 college-level semester units from a regionally accredited educational institution.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a valid California Class C Driver License and a satisfactory driving record is required. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
• Certificate of completion from a POST approved California law enforcement academy.

Working Conditions

Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law. Candidates must pass a thorough background investigation.

Must be willing to work emergencies as well as evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Must meet physical, psychological, and background standards established by POST as well as ongoing peace officer requirements pursuant to federal, state, and local legislation. This classification requires wearing respiratory protective equipment at times. When assigned to such work, facial hair must be shaven when it interferes with the safe fitting of respiratory protective equipment. This classification functions as a peace officer within the authority and limits of California Penal Code Sections 830.1(a) and 832.

Those who receive a passing score on the PAT will be invited to a Structured Oral Examination.

The Position

The Department of Public Works seeks well-qualified candidates for the position of Principal Civil Engineer. This is an amazing opportunity to join a hard-working team of results-driven professionals.

The Principal Civil Engineer plans, organizes, and directs the staff and operations of a major functional section within the Public Works Department, including engineering design, construction management, surveying, and mapping. In addition, the Principal Civil Engineer supervises professional and technical staff related to these functions and performs a variety of professional engineering tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility. The current vacancy is in the Design and Construction Management Section.

This position is a full managerial position in the Engineer series, with the following responsibilities:

• Supervise, coach, mentor, and manage performance of professional and technical staff.
• Work cooperatively with the other Divisions and Sections in the Department, including providing timely budget or cost information, as well as, working with other County Departments.
• Make recommendations to the Deputy Director on staffing-levels needed based on anticipated design projects, construction inspection, and administration needs.

• Oversee and manage the budget and performance measurement requirements and reporting for the Design and Construction Management Section.
• Oversee and manage the design of infrastructure projects ensuring they meet quality standards and project goals.

• Review competed projects with the applicable Divisions or Departments to improve on future projects.

• A typical way to qualify is three years of responsible supervisory engineer experience including difficult and complex field and office work in planning, design, construction, and maintenance of a variety of civil engineering projects.

Knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of civil engineering and municipal public works planning, design, construction, and administration.
• Methods and materials used in the design, construction, and inspection of varied civil engineering projects.
• Principles and practices of public administration, organization, and management.
• Principles, practices, and procedures of budget preparation, budget administration, and budget control.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Weighmaster in the Zero Waste Division of the Public Works Department! Working in the scale house at the solid waste transfer station, the Weighmaster is responsible for assessing incoming loads and providing direction to customers.

In this role, you will weigh vehicles entering and leaving the transfer station; estimate volumes of small loads and assess contents; collect established fees for dumping; provide information and direct customers; and use personal computers for data collection, computation, reconciliation, record keeping and reporting. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is: 
Equivalent to completion of high school and either three (3) years of solid waste collection and disposal experience, or three (3) years of general office or accounting support work experience. Prior experience in refuse collection and/or experience in handling of hazardous materials is desirable.

Other requirements include:
Must be bondable and able to work early morning, evening, holiday and weekend shifts in a dusty, windy environment without restrictions. Within a six (6) month probationary period must successfully complete four (4) weeks of full-time equivalent on-the-job training to prepare the employee to assume the full range of Weighmaster duties, as certified by senior supervisory staff.

Successful completion of classes in Customer Service Dispute/Conflict Resolution is desirable.

About The Position:

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff. This vacancy is specifically for the Field Operations CSO position.

The City of Foster City is looking for a dedicated and responsible individual to join the Police Department as a Senior Community Services Officer. This position requires mature judgement and discretion and is given specialized training. We are seeking highly skilled individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Under general supervision, this position supplements administrative staff and provides support for sworn staff in police operations. There are four main assignment areas for the position, but currently there is only one vacancy in Field Operations.

Field Operations Assignment:
Performs vehicle abatement duties, provides parking enforcement, performs evidence collection and processing in accordance with departmental procedures, prepares police and operational reports. Responds to subpoenas as necessary. Handle a variety of department fleet maintenance and equipment maintenance duties; run errands in support of department operations, and other duties as assigned.

Education and Training Guidelines:
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way would be:

Education:  A high school diploma or equivalent with courses in office administration or specialized job training, with undergraduate college course work, specialized administrative or law enforcement education and/or training. An associate degree is desirable.

Experience:  Two (2) years of full-time experience using computers, telephones, radios and other modern office equipment and programs including preparing, compiling and distributing records, budgets, reports and statistical information. Prior experience in Property/Evidence is desirable.

Licenses and Certifications: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License and a good driving record.

Special Requirements
Ability to provide effective service and technical support; ability to learn all assignments; ability to sit for long periods of time, stoop, squat, lift and carry small boxes, supplies and equipment up to 25 lbs.; ability to remain calm and courteous in stressful situations, possess stamina for high workload periods, high profile projects and tight deadlines; coordinate and communicate with a wide range of people, effectively disseminate information and analyze relevant data; flexibility to work irregular hours and overtime as necessary; handle multiple priorities and respond to urgent requests; provide community service in a polite and courteous manner.

Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Current and future vacancies may be filled from this list. The list will remain in effect for at least one year unless exhausted sooner. 

The department will invite the most qualified candidates from the eligibility list to a final department interview. Applicants selected for a Departmental interview must complete a background investigation which includes a polygraph and fingerprinting. After a conditional job offer, applicants must also complete a psychological examination and pre-employment medical examination.
