The Planning Division implements policies and plans that determine where and how the City will grow and how that growth will be balanced with the availability of infrastructure and services.

PBCE internship program is designed to offer professional learning opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in the urban planning field. Interns may be assigned to specific projects in the sub-disciplines of urban village planning, development review, zoning, urban design, transportation, economic development, housing, sustainability, historic preservation, Geographic Information Systems, and data analytics. Finance Department - The Finance Department has over 100 employees who are dedicated to serve the needs of our customers throughout the City of San Jose. Our mission is to manage, protect, and report on the City of San Jose's financial resources to enhance the City's financial condition for our residents, businesses, and investors. This vacancy is specifically for the Property/Evidence CSO position.

The City of Foster City is looking for a dedicated and responsible individual to join the Police Department as a Senior Community Services Officer. This position requires mature judgement and discretion and is given specialized training. We are seeking highly skilled individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Under general supervision, this position supplements administrative staff and provides support for sworn staff in police operations. There are four main assignment areas for the position, but currently there is only one vacancy in Property/Evidence.

Property/Evidence Assignment
Maintain and manage property and evidence of the department, including maintaining the property / evidence rooms; receive, collect, catalogue, store, handle and transport evidence; reviews files on case-by-base basis for disposition in accordance with Penal Codes and Law; assist in providing training to officers on proper packaging of evidence; prepare basic police reports, compile complex information; manage equipment inventory, provide information, telephone and front counter service, order and maintain evidence supplies and necessary equipment, perform payroll data input and payroll preparation/coordination, and other duties as assigned.

Education and Training Guidelines:
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way would be:

Education:  A high school diploma or equivalent with courses in office administration or specialized job training, with undergraduate college course work, specialized administrative or law enforcement education and/or training. An associate degree is desirable.

The Deputy District Secretary reports to the Executive Officer, District Secretary, and will perform detailed, complex, and highly responsible administrative and technical work. This would include providing support for the Boards of Directors and committees of the San Mateo County Transit District (“SamTrans”), Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board (“Caltrain” aka “JPB”), the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (“TA”), and The San Mateo County Express Lanes Joint Powers Authority (“Express Lanes” aka “SMCELJPA”).

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. DEFINITION

Police Records Clerk I: Under direct supervision, perform detailed clerical work of average complexity in connection with processing and maintaining sensitive and confidential police records; operate computerized Records Management System; receive money; provide customer service both at the counter and on the telephone; and to do related work as required. Police Records Clerk I is an entry-level position and Police Records Clerk II is the journey level class in the series requiring average knowledge and computer experience. Incumbents in this class, working within established procedures are expected to carry out general clerical duties, following oral and written directions, learn to exercise independent judgment, and have the ability to work in groups to achieve common goals. 

Police Records Clerk II: Under supervision, Police Records Clerk II are expected to work within established procedures at a wide variety of keyboarding, data-entry, and general clerical duties, exercise independent judgment and provide training, technical and clerical supervision over less experienced staff.

Both the Police Records Clerk I and Police Records Clerk II have frequent contact with the public and other law enforcement agencies. Incumbents deal with sensitive and confidential information on a daily basis and are required to work under pressure.

 

Positions in the Police Records Clerk II class are flexibly staffed and normally filled by advancement from the Police Records Clerk I class, or when filled from the outside, require specific clerical experience. Appointment to this class requires the employee to be performing substantially the full range of police records clerk duties and to meet the qualifications for the class.

Police Records Clerk II: Two years of full time, clerical experience involving data entry, general office work, and public contact, desirably in a public sector law enforcement agency. Additional education may be substituted for one year of the required experience on the basis that one year of education equals six months of experience, utilizing a maximum of two years of additional education.

Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

The Department: 
 The Assistant City Clerk’s Office/City Manager’s Office is recruiting to fill a Deputy City Clerk. The Assistant City Clerk’s Office is organized under the City Clerk’s Office.  The Office of the Assistant City Clerk processes the agendas for and attends all meetings of the Council and Authorities Concurrent and Stadium Authority meetings, maintains accurate and up-to-date records of the proceedings of those meetings and makes those records open for public inspection. The Office of the Assistant City Clerk processes and maintains copies of City contracts, ordinances, resolutions and other official documents. The Office of the Assistant City Clerk manages and compiles City records in accordance with the Records Retention Schedule and in response to Public Records Act requests. The Office of the Assistant City Clerk administers campaign and disclosure laws, the Campaign Finance Ordinance, Regulation of Lobbying Activities program and the Calendars of Certain City Officials program. The Office of the Assistant City Clerk also administers oaths of affirmation pertaining to the affairs and business of the City and certifies copies of official records.
 
 The Position: 
 The Deputy City Clerk will report to the Assistant City Clerk and perform highly complex administrative and analytical work. This position will assist the Assistant City Clerk in the administration of the City Clerk's Office. The incumbent will assist in developing, implementing and coordinating projects, programs and procedures. This position is responsible for assisting with Public Record Act (PRA) requests and this position will also support projects and programs within the City Manager’s Office. Incumbents in this position will have considerable independence in making judgment related to their assignments and must handle situations with great sensitivity, tact and diplomacy. May supervise or act as lead worker to staff involved in management activities.  
 
As a member of the City's unclassified service, this is an "at-will" position. The incumbent serves at the discretion of the City Manager.

The annual salary range for this position is $119,994.36 - $155,300.16.  This position will be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any education or experience equivalent to:

• An Associate of Arts degree in Public Administration, Business Administration or closely related field; and
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible supervisory or lead administrative/management experience in a City Clerk's Office. 

Desirable Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or possession of a Certified Municipal Clerk certification or required within two (2) years of hire.

LICENSE
Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for duration of employment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.

The Department of Public Works is recruiting for a Chief of Surveys to provide the following typical duties and responsibilities which may include but are not limited to:

• Supervises an office technical staff in the preparation of drawings, corner records, record of surveys, reviewing improvement plans and specifications, parcel maps and tract maps.
• Reviews, approves, or examines land surveying documents (maps, plats, reports, descriptions, etc.) under supervision of the Land Surveyor.
• Manages surveying staff including supervision, hiring, training and performance evaluations.
• Plans, coordinates, and schedules all office surveying activities.
• Sets and maintains standard practices for office surveying activities and quality control.
• Consults with public and private engineers, inspectors, and contractors relative to requested work and coordinates any necessary activities.
• Communicates with clients and the public and resolves issues that arise during field surveys.
• Performs map and document research for field and office survey projects.
• Interprets construction documents for construction surveys.

This is a journey-level class in the Police Records Specialist classification series responsible for maintaining information in specialized departmental databases, preparing and assembling reports, processing payments, and preparing and processing subpoenas, requests for information, and other documents. All activities are performed within specified legal guidelines. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.
