DEFINITION
Under general supervision, provides technical and administrative support work in a variety of Human Resources functions, including benefits, onboarding/offboarding and other human resources programs.

 

Examples of Duties for this Position

• Assists in the administration of employee benefits and leaves, retirement and health insurance programs; informs and advises employees regarding these programs: contacts insurance carriers and third-party administrators involved with the District's programs to resolve problems and answer employee questions.
• Processes District personnel actions and benefits in District’s Human Resources Information Systems or other computer software programs.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Associate Planner! In this role, you will have the opportunity to perform professional planning work in the Land Use Division of the Planning Department or the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department.

In the Land Use Division, the Associate Planner performs a variety of professional activities in support of the City's planning services. This Division administers zoning regulations, reviews development projects and assists the community in its efforts to plan for the City's physical, cultural, environmental, and socio-economic future. If current planning activities are assigned, work will include data collection, provision of information to the public at the zoning counter, processing development applications, and environmental review. In the Transportation Division, the Associate Planner works on a variety of projects, programs, and initiatives, such as developing, implementing, and updating the City's transportation plans; analyzing transportation and traffic safety data to identify and prioritize projects and policies that will improve public safety; developing Complete Streets projects and supporting the implementation of transportation capital improvement projects; and coordinating with transit providers, primarily AC Transit, on transit projects affecting Berkeley, including service planning and bus stop improvements. Additional duties may include leading grant applications and assisting with grant compliance, procurement of consultants, and consultant and contract management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this classification is:

Equivalent to graduation from a four year college with major coursework in city, regional, or urban planning or a closely related field and two (2) years of professional planning experience. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college coursework on a year-for-year basis.

A valid California driver's license is desirable. Must be able to attend evening meetings as required.

Under the administrative direction of the Ports Finance and Administration Division, the Information Systems (IS) Director plans, directs, and coordinates information system operations and activities for the Port of San Francisco. This includes overseeing system design, development, and implementation, as well as coordinating data and information systems across departments. The IS Director is responsible for the operation and maintenance of these systems.

The Port is in the process of replacing several business-critical systems in the next five years, including real estate and work order management systems.  The IS Director will lead these efforts, requiring the creation of a systems strategic plan that aligns different systems with the Port’s primary business needs while integrating with citywide financial and payroll systems.  This plan will involve collaborating with business divisions to identify and prioritize system requirements, such as vacancy, profit and loss, and common area expense allocation reports for the real estate portfolio, as well as berthing management systems for various visiting ships and boats.

The IS Director will also identify necessary business division process changes and establish short- and long-term deliverables. This position oversees two distinct functions: an applications group responsible for implementing and maintaining technology applications tailored to the Port’s needs, and an infrastructure group that ensures a stable and secure environment for desktop and mobile devices.

The essential duties of IS Director include the following:

• Develops and implements the strategic systems plan for the Port.
• Leads the IS division, building capacity and supporting the infrastructure and business applications teams.
• Plans and directs the day-to-day information systems activities for the Port, including application and infrastructure support, desktop administration and IS Help Desk support services.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

• A typical way to qualify is three years of progressively responsible professional-level experience in the field of Human Resources within a public-sector environment, specifically regarding ADA in general and Title I specifically, Leave of Absence, Workers' Compensation, and insurance policies.
• Experience should also include at least one year performing supervisory duties.

Knowledge of:

What You’ll Do

Under the general direction of the City Clerk, the Deputy City Clerk uses independent judgement to plan, organize, direct, and perform a variety of complex administrative, technical, and supervisory duties in support of the City Clerk Department’s day-to-day operations, primarily legislative operations and contract and process management. The Deputy City Clerk serves as the second in command within the City Clerk’s Department and provides backup to the City Clerk.  The Deputy City Clerk will provide a high level of administrative and technical support to the City Clerk and other departments and perform all duties of the City Clerk in his/her absence. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assists the City Clerk in performing the day to day functions of the City Clerk's office; and in the absence of the City Clerk, act as City Clerk, performing such duties as serving as the Clerk of the City Council, maintaining meeting protocols, parliamentary procedures and proper conduct, writing agenda reports, taking minutes, certifying ordinances, resolutions, agreements and other official documents, administer oaths of office and supervise staff.

• Oversees maintenance and development of City-wide records management initiatives.
• Assists the City Clerk in the administration and conduct of municipal elections and special events. Serves as Filing Officer for campaign and conflict of interest finance reporting.

The County of Yuba is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the flexibly staffed position of Elections Clerk I-II in the Elections Division within the Clerk-Recorder’s Office for both Extra Help and Full Time positions. This position reports directly to the Registrar of Voters Manager. This class is flexibly staffed, and incumbents may advance to the II-level after gaining experience, demonstrating proficiency, and meeting the qualifications. General Purpose:
This Recreation Aide position will be assigned to the Family Programs area assisting Recreation Leaders in providing support for the After-School Recreation program.
 
Supervision Received and Exercised:
Receive general supervision from a Recreation Coordinator and may receive technical and/or functional supervision from a Recreation Leader or Program Specialist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in leading recreation activities in program areas such as preschool, playground, parks, teens, sports, special events, and senior citizen activities.

• Assist in leading activities in areas such as arts and crafts, games, sports, music, drama, and nature study.
