THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Public Works and Utilities is comprised of six divisions that work collaboratively to develop, build, operate, and maintain Hayward's infrastructure. The Department is responsible for providing engineering and transportation support to City operating departments and divisions and for implementation of the City's Capital Improvement Program, all while providing excellent customer service to the community.

• Land surveying principles and practices as applied to preliminary location, property, construction, precise traverse, and precise leveling and topographic surveys.
• Plane geometry and its application to land surveying.
• Proper use and methods of adjustment of common surveying instruments and equipment.
• Operating surveying instruments and in making accurate field observations.

• Effectively supervise the work of members of a land survey party.
• Learn and effectively apply City policies, procedures and practices related to land survey work and to interpret legal descriptions.
• Prepare clears, and completes records.
• Read and interpret maps and complex property descriptions.
• Make a check calculations and resolve discrepancies in surveying data.
• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:   Three years of increasingly responsible survey experience related to public works design and construction at least one year of which included responsible survey instrument work.
 
Education:  Equivalent to an Associate of Arts Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and completed course work in algebra, geometry, trigonometry and drafting.  

License:   Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License. Possession of a California L.S.I.T. or Land Surveyor's License.

THE POSITION

The current opening is for a full-time position and is under the direction of the Police Records Supervisor. The Police Records Clerk will provide a wide variety of clerical, typing, and computer data entry tasks related to Police records; maintaining accurate Police statistics, records, and files; conducting business and transactions with the public, in person and by telephone; is available for occasional night and/or weekend duty as required, and performing other related work as required.

BASIC EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Responsible for all Police statistical record keeping.
• Perform a variety of data entry, typing, and clerical work related to all phases of the Police operation,  such as preparing forms, ordering department supplies, and making appointments.
• Prepare correspondence and compile information for reports.
• Direct requests to proper agencies and departments.
• Enter, update, and maintain data while ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of all information.
• Coordinate service of subpoenas.
• Compile data for Public Records Act requests.

The City of Patterson’s Public Works Department is seeking to fill (1) full-time Electrical & Instrumentation Technician I or II position within the Public Works department and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include but are not limited to: Under supervision, performs skilled electrical and mechanical work related to the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical, mechanical, and electronic equipment associated with the Wastewater Treatment Facility, Water Distribution System, Sewer/Storm Collections pumping stations, Telemetry/SCADA system, Traffic Signal and Street Light System, and related facilities.  Performs related work as assigned.

San Mateo Medical Center is seeking an experienced Surgery Scheduling Specialist for a Full-Time, Extra-help position for the Surgery Department. The Surgery Scheduling Specialist provides technical, complex and specialized administrative support to surgeons and patients scheduled for surgery, which includes interaction with operating room staff and patients; handles multiple competing priorities; interacts with diverse customer groups; handles multiple patient-related tasks such as tracking patient financials to ensure information is correctly entered; and moves patients from the clinic to the operating room, including all pre-operative processes necessary for the patients prior to surgery, pre-op process sheets and clinic schedules, data entry of items into the operative database, financial reconciliation, and post-op order sets, and may have some responsibilities for ordering supplies or equipment.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communications skills, including the ability to communicate complex medical terminology to a variety of people with varying levels of medical knowledge. In addition, they would possess skills in conflict resolution, and problem solving. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with challenging patients, and patients who may have a language or communication barrier. This position will require attention to detail, and therefore the ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task.
 
NOTE: The ability to speak, read and write in fluent English and Spanish is preferred for this position.
 
 Duties for this position may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Tracking patient financials to be sure they are correctly entered.
• Scheduling patients in the procedure clinic.  
• Updating the pre-op process sheet and clinic schedule in the computer.
• Entering data into the operative database.
• Interfacing between the Operating Room and Surgeon.
• Ability to schedule patients using the OR manager program.

NOTE: This Job Announcement was edited on May 16, 2023 regarding the definition of the extra help assignment. This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Qualifications

Knowledge of:

• Medical terminology as related to patient services support work.

The HR Tech will be responsible for reconciling benefits reports and assisting in the development of dashboards. Benefits Division
The Employee Benefits Division, led by the Human Resources Benefits Manager, coordinates and administers benefits programs, providing assistance and technical support to County employees and retirees, benefit partners, and insurance providers.

Out team supports a workforce of over 6,000 active employees and 3,000 retirees.  We operate a customer service call center, conduct one-on-one and group benefits education, and facilitate large benefits-related training sessions.  We assist employees with benefit concerns, work closely with administrators and insurance providers to resolve County coverage issues quickly, and process benefit changes efficiently.

Panel interview (weight: 100%). Those applicants who pass the online computer-based exam will be interviewed by a panel of three subject matter experts.  Applicants who pass the interview will be placed on an eligible (or hiring) list and the top ranked candidates will be invited to a second interview and will meet with the Benefits team.  An Excel proficiency exam will be given as part of the second interview.
