Under direction, the Custodian performs routine manual cleaning tasks in public buildings, schools, other facilities, and surrounding areas. 

Examples of essential duties include but not limited to the following:

• Sweeps, scrubs, mops, spots and waxes floors; vacuums and cleans rugs and carpets.
• Cleans, dusts and polishes cabinets, furniture and woodwork; empties and cleans waste receptacles and ashtrays.
• Cleans stairways and hallways; cleans and disinfects restrooms and replenishes supplies; may perform minor duties in unplugging sinks and toilets; cleans offices and lobbies; cleans ceilings, walls, window shades, light fixtures and venetian blinds.
• Assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment.
• Turns out lights and locks doors and windows.
• Operates scrubbers, buffers, waxers and related electrical appliances and equipment; may tend simple, low pressure heating and ventilating systems; may check water levels in gauges and periodically perform routine servicing to boilers and pumps.
• In recreational areas, cleans auditoriums, gymnasiums, club houses and locker rooms; picks up papers and rubbish in play areas; hangs flags and decorations; reports evidences of vandalism, broken plumbing, windows, doors, locks, etc.
• May wash interior glass partitions and interior and exterior windows which can be easily reached from floor or ground level.
• As school custodian, may supervise and maintain order among students during recess periods; distributes milk or other refreshments to students; performs minor duties in repairing  chairs, desks and toys.

MAINTENANCE WORKER (Full time)

Working in the Public Works Department, the Maintenance Worker I/II will perform a variety of unskilled, semiskilled and skilled light and heavy duty construction, maintenance and repair work involving public works, sewer and drainage systems, buildings, parking meters, and other facilities.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Maintenance Worker I:  This is the entry level class in the maintenance worker series. Positions in this class normally perform a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled maintenance tasks. Although trucks and other motorized equipment may be operated by a Maintenance Worker I, the equipment is used on a training basis or for tasks which are repetitious in nature. Under this training concept, positions assigned to the class of Maintenance Worker II which become vacant may reasonably be filled at the Maintenance Worker I level, with the understanding that reassignment to the Maintenance Worker II class may be expected following successful job performance and personal development.

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level in the maintenance worker series. Positions assigned to this class are expected to perform semi‑skilled and skilled public works maintenance activities and to operate light and moderately heavy power‑driven equipment on a continuing basis. All positions allocated to this class require that an incumbent be able to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative to fulfill assigned tasks. Maintenance Workers II may also be expected to assist in the supervision and training of less experienced personnel.

• Assist in moving and installing park and recreational equipment.
• Install, maintain, and repair sewer system mains, sprinkler systems, pipes and facilities.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair parking meter devices.

Under general direction, the Deputy District Attorney I/II/III performs legal work in the enforcement of laws; prosecutes criminal cases as assigned by the District Attorney; advises the general public and law enforcement officers on criminal matters; and does related work as required. The position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

JOB DUTIES

• Prepare legal briefs for motions and appeals; prepares affidavits for search and arrest warrants; prepares trial briefs, checks questions of law.
• Provides legal and investigative analysis to police agencies; prepares briefs or opinions concerning law as applied to the jurisdiction of the District Attorney.
• Anticipates legal reasoning of defense attorneys and drafts jury instructions; presents opening statements, interrogates, and cross examines witnesses, argues points of law and makes final arguments or summations.
• Issues subpoenas; attends court pretrial conferences outside of court; represents the court in criminal calendar proceedings, including the scheduling of cases, pleas, negotiations, probation revocation hearings, motions, and sentencings.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, provides a variety of office support activities including customer service, telephone and counter reception, document processing, record keeping, data entry and organization, cashiering, and filing; provides information and assistance to staff and the general public; and performs related work as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from assigned supervisory or management staff. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Initially, under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform general office support work such as customer service at the front counter and over the phone, file and records maintenance, data entry, and screening phone calls, visitors, and mail, and directing questions to the appropriate staff. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied, complex, and difficult; and positions exercise judgment and initiative in their assigned tasks, receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the Administrative Assistant in that the latter performs more advanced technical and specialized administrative support duties requiring additional training and/or experience and is typically assigned to provide administrative assistance in support of a division manager or department head.

DEFINITION

Under supervision, performs electrical, preventive and corrective maintenance, modifications of existing equipment and the installation of new electrical equipment used within the wastewater treatment plant, the wastewater lift stations and the potable water pump stations and equipment; on 24-hour emergency call for electrical repairs; and performs other duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Installs, repairs, maintains or replaces electrical equipment including but not limited to, motor control centers, generators, switchgear panels, variable frequency drives, pump controllers, large distribution breakers, motors of various sizes and voltages, ground fault systems, magnetic and solid state starters, building lighting and power, HVAC equipment, reduced voltage transformers, SCADA control systems, fused disconnects, and various size and types of lighting. Shall review plans and specifications, may inspect electrical components to be installed during new construction, equipment replacement or modification. Shall maintain equipment records on the computerized maintenance system and update drawings as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Electrical tools including but not limited to, basic hand and power tools, electric cable puller (mule), conduit benders (both hand and hydraulic), MEGGER, phase rotation meter, VOM meter, hydraulic knock-out tool, hand and power threading equipment, accepted safety practices and standards related to both personnel practices and proper handling and installation of equipment and systems. National Electrical Code; installation, operation and maintenance of motor control centers, power generation equipment, pumping control equipment with all types of motors.

Ability to: Read and interpret electrical diagrams, plans and electrical codes. Instruct others in preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment and of safe work practices.  Work independently and with non-skilled electrical personnel.  Interact positively and cooperate with co-workers, respond politely to customers, work as a team member, function under demanding time pressure, respond in a positive manner to supervision, and attend work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.

Physical Requirements:  Moderate and sometimes strenuous exertion required including crawling, stair climbing, lifting, carrying and/or handling up to 50 pounds for 30 minutes.  Work in confined areas and wear protective garments.  May work in conditions which require exposure to noise, noxious odors, gases and contact with wastewater.

Experience: Four years of journey-level electrical trade experience involving work performed in conformance with standard codes and both single and three phase equipment.  Experience with water or wastewater utility systems desirable.

Education:  Graduation from high school, or equivalent.  Continuing education in related subjects is desirable.

License:  Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Legal Services Specialist in the District Attorney's Office to establish an eligibility list for upcoming vacancies. Under general supervision, the incumbent performs varied and specialized confidential legal support duties, requiring thorough knowledge of the assigned department, division, or program, its procedures, and operational details; provides administrative support to legal staff; assists with calendaring and scheduling; composes and prepares correspondence using judgment in content and style; performs skilled word processing, data entry and organization, recordkeeping, statistical and technical report preparation, and filing; prepares legal documents; assists in case coordination and filing of documents in a timely manner; and performs related duties as assigned. The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Deputy County Counsel II/III in the Office of County Counsel. Under the direction of the County Counsel and Chief Deputy County Counsel, attorneys in this series perform professional legal work by preparing and trying civil cases and providing legal counsel and assistance to the County, it’s officers, associated boards and commissions, as well as outside agencies; assist departments in interpreting regulations on a wide range of topics; represent officers and employees in litigation; and perform duties as assigned.  The Deputy County Counsel I/II/III classification is flexibly staffed and depending on background and experience, may be filled directly at the Deputy County Counsel II or III level. Involvement in formal litigation and discretionary authority increases as the incumbent progresses through the various levels.

• Researches, interprets and applies laws, court decision, statutes, ordinances and other legal authorities for use in the preparation of legal opinions, briefs, pleadings, notes, and memoranda; prepares legal reports, opinions, briefs and appeals of average difficulty under general supervision.  
• Represents, confers with and advises County officials, employees and district representatives on legal questions pertaining to their respective powers, duties, functions and obligations; may attend meetings of boards and commissions in order to provide legal advice and counsel.  
• Represents, confers with, and advises clients of the Office of the County Counsel with respect to all aspects of civil law, including litigation in the area of probate, police powers, zoning, planning, social services, health care, child welfare, disciplinary appeals and grievances, real and personal property, assessment and taxation, and other civil areas of public law.  
• Researches and prepares formal written ordinances, resolutions, contracts, agreements, leases, conveyances and other legal documents.

• Prepares pleadings and other papers in connection with trials, hearings and other legal proceedings; performs research, investigation and detailed legal preparation for the trial or defense of the County in cases involving condemnation, damage or other civil suits.

FACILITY MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST
Part-Time Position (20 Hours per Week)

Definition
Under the general direction of the District Manager, performs facility maintenance and safety evaluations on the District’s buildings and surrounding grounds and performs related work and supportive services as required. This position serves as the facility manager for District buildings, coordinating professional repair, maintenance, and housekeeping services, managing security access systems, and ensuring facilities comply with regulatory standards and codes.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision of the Director of Human Resources, performs a wide variety of confidential clerical and administrative support assignments on behalf of the department, provides direct service to the public, and to performs related other work as required or assigned.

Promptly and appropriately answers telephone calls and responds to electronic correspondence and walk-in inquiries; assists with recruitments as needed; maintains and updates employee personnel files and records and other Human Resources documents on a regular basis; May administer the documentation requirements of the 1986 Immigration and Control Act and processes associated Department of Motor Vehicles and California EDD reports.  As assigned, prepares and processes official Human Resources forms such as hourly employee action forms, maintains and updates City-wide Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Program files, employee benefits documents, and retiree documents and processes invoices.    Receives, distributes, and dispatches intra-office and US mail.  Regularly maintains and orders needed office supplies.  Processes departmental petty cash reimbursements.  Operates a variety of current office machines, including but not limited to computers, printers, typewriters, copiers, adding and facsimile machines. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:  Office machines and equipment including computers; computer software PC based word processing and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel); appropriate English grammar, spelling, and current business formats; modern office equipment and methods including operation of personal computers, filing and recordkeeping practices and basic arithmetic.

Ability to:  Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; follow written and oral instructions; take accurate messages, produce accurate work and provide appropriate information and referral.  Establish and maintain cordial, effective working relations with general public, co-workers and other City personnel and provide excellent internal and external customer service; handle confidential information with good judgment, etc.; work harmoniously with respective staff; interacts positively and cooperate with co-workers, responds politely to customers, works as a team member, functions under demanding time pressure, responds in a positive manner to supervision, attends work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.
