The City of Berkeley is now accepting applications for the position of Health Services Program Specialist! In this role, you will plan and manage a specialized health program. Program-planning activities will include development of procedures for operation and evaluation and fiscal and budgetary administration. You will also liaise with program personnel to assure proper integration of program planning and evaluation with program operations. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a college or university with major course work in public health, health or social-services related field, or health-related public policy, and two years of experience as a health/social services professional.

One year supervisory experience which has included budget and program development is desirable.

Other requirements: Must be willing to work evenings and weekends and be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. For automobile travel, a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record are required.

The City is seeking a Division Manager to manage all services and activities in the Benefits Division of the Human Resources Department. The City of Orinda is looking for responsible, courteous individuals who enjoy working in a hands-on environment, can work independently of supervision and have experience dealing tactfully and effectively with members of the public.  The successful applicant will work on a part time basis with a schedule which will include evening and weekend hours, depending upon programs, rentals and events.   

The Facility Attendant performs custodial duties related to the care and cleaning of assigned facilities, performs a wide variety of duties for events, classes and programs, including setting up and tearing down of tables, chairs, equipment and supplies and will perform minor maintenance and repairs as needed.

EXAMPLES OF IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Provide friendly and professional customer service by greeting Community Center visitors, serving as a main point of contact during activities and events primarily in evenings, weekends and special events.

Performs custodial duties at assigned facilities which include, but are not limited to cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing, stripping and polishing floors; cleaning furniture, woodwork, fixtures, equipment, supplies, doors, windows, walls, walkways, driveways, and facility grounds; disposing of trash.

Set up all necessary equipment and furniture such as tables, chairs, podiums, and A/V equipment for indoor and/or outdoor events.

Inspects facilities and equipment, reports issues in a timely manner to appropriate higher-level staff; performs minor facility maintenance.

Explain and follow City and department policies and procedures.

Provide information and feedback to Facility and Parks Supervisor.

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Public Health Nurse Intern/Public Health Nurse in the Health and Human Services Department. This position provides the full range of public health nursing services including teaching, health assessment, and counseling services in homes, clinics, schools and community centers in connection with the prevention and control of diseases and adverse health conditions. Public Health Nurses are assigned to specific programs such as Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health, California Children’s Services, Child Health and Disability Prevention, Foster Care and communicable disease control. Public Health Nurse Intern: is a recruiting and training level class established to qualify candidates for duties as a PHN in Yuba County Health & Human Services Department. Under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas while pursuing a Public Health Nurse Certification. Upon satisfactory completion of the PHN Certification, the PHN Intern are eligible for promotion to the level of PHN. Incumbents who do not successfully complete the PHN certification as prescribed herein may be released from employment.

Public Health Nurse: is the entry level in this class series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn and perform a variety of public health nursing duties in assigned program areas. As experience is gained, assignments become more complex and are performed under more general supervision.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Facility duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Unlock and lock buildings for renters and programs.
• Be present and assist renters during events.
• Set up and breakdown tables and chairs for rentals and program classes.
• Maintain and keep facilities clean during and after events.
• Move furniture/equipment and return to appropriate storage areas after events.
• Assist renters with facility equipment usage.
• Clean sinks, counters, mirrors, stalls, floors, restrooms, and garbage disposal before and after rentals and program classes to ensure facilities are clean inside and outside.
• Performs duties within OSHA standards.

The City of Berkeley is seeking a Senior Public Health Nurse who is passionate about working with community members and partners! In this role, you will take an equity-focused approach to supporting good health for families and individuals across the lifespan.

The Senior Public Health Nurse will provide health consultations and case management in a multidisciplinary team for families facing complex health challenges. In addition to providing consultations and trainings for community based organizations and providers, this position will also lead initiatives to enhance professional development for a team of nurses and support program planning for Public Health Nursing services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing, with major course work in nursing, and two (2) years of public health nursing experience.

The Position

The Solid Waste Manager reports directly to the Environmental Services Manager and is responsible for the administration of multiple integrated waste management contracts and programs within the Environmental Services Division. This position supervises a team of technical staff who execute various integrated solid waste management activities and may serve as the division head in the absence of the Environmental Services Manager.

Examples of Duties

• Manage multiple City franchise agreements for solid waste collection, material transfer and recovery, and landfill disposal including negotiating contract terms and monitoring performance.
• Oversee the division’s solid waste programs including planning, organizing, and implementing programs to create environmentally sound and cost-effective methods for the disposal of garbage and household hazardous waste, recovery of recyclables, diversion of organic material, and waste prevention.
• Plan, develop, and oversee the work of integrated waste management staff, providing leadership and fostering staff development.
• Receive and respond to complex customer service requests concerning scope of program, technical information, and service delivery issues.
• Oversee the Division’s public education, outreach, and special events to promote environmentally responsible and sustainable behavior.
• Analyze proposed legislation affecting integrated waste management activities, develops and implements program and policies to ensure City compliance with regulatory mandates.
• Conduct analysis and prepare reports and documents as required by regulatory agencies and for City Council study sessions and meetings.
• Participate in budget preparation and administration.
• Make presentations to City Council, boards, commissions or other public groups and acts as the City designated representative as assigned.
