Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform a wide range of professional accounting duties, including analyzing and maintaining accounting records, auditing check payments, and preparing financial reports. Record monthly and annual journal entries for benefit and cost allocations, revenue and expense accruals, and reclassifications. Reconcile asset and liability accounts, as well as subsidiary transactions and reports, to the Infor General Ledger.
• Process employee Purchasing Card (P-Card) expense reports by reviewing transactions for accuracy, ensuring receipts and documentation are complete, checking for proper coding of expenses, compliance with policies and spending limits, reconciling charges, and checking for supervisor approvals and authorization before expenses are recorded. Process claims and fees reimbursements for the Board of Directors. Provide assistance to P-Card users of Infor XM.
• Prepare diverse financial summaries, schedules, footnote disclosures, and reports, ensuring data accuracy and completeness. Examples include the Quarterly Board of Directors' Expense Report and supporting schedules and footnote disclosures for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
• Enter the Board of Directors' timesheets biweekly. 
• Assist in recording collections and cash receipts.
• Assist with the fiscal period/month-end close procedures to identify inconsistencies, errors, or unusual activities. Prepares audit schedules and responds to audit inquiries.

Ideal Experience:.

Four (4) years of professional accounting experience involving transactions analysis, journal entry preparation,  maintenance of accounting records, account reconciliation, and preparation of financial reports.

• Ability to prepare a variety of clear and concise financial summaries and accounting reports.
• Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and web-based programs or equivalent.

• Ability to provide excellent customer service through all levels of the organization and external parties.

Ideal Knowledge:

• Knowledge of governmental accounting and financial management practices in compliance with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board. 
• Knowledge of principles and practices of financial analysis and auditing.
• Knowledge of automated financial systems such as Infor, PeopleSoft, SAP or equivalent.

Ideal Training and Education:

Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting or a related field.

Or

Directly related experience may be substituted for the college requirement on the basis of one and one-half years of experience for one year of education to a maximum of four years.

 

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Senior Forestry Supervisor in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to direct the City's forestry program, including oversight of program operations and personnel. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Overview:

The Plant/Pipeline Mechanical Technician II will perform maintenance and repair functions on industrial equipment used in water treatment, recycled water, water purification plants, pumping stations, and hydroelectric plants. This position will also work on related mechanical equipment components used for water treatment, storage, distribution, and flood control. They will be required to perform maintenance and repair duties on water conduits and equipment. As well as perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibility. This position will be assigned to work at one of Valley Water’s three water treatment plants in Santa Clara County and can be assigned to work rotating on-call weekends after approximately 1-2 years.

The Position

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Reserve Firefighter will respond to and participate in fire suppression, hazardous materials, rescue and medical operations requiring full unassisted ambulatory activity including bending, stooping, lifting up to 100 pounds, walking on uneven surfaces, squatting, climbing, lying prone, and running. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, and exposure to water, heat, fire, smoke and other hazardous substances. Reserve Firefighters will wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), protective clothing and boots, operate heavy rescue equipment and administer medical treatment to ill and injured persons.

Please Note:  Reserve Firefighters will be required to work a minimum of two (2) shifts or 48 hours.

Assigned Location: Midpen is currently seeking to fill two Lead Open Space Technician positions, reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. These assignments are scheduled to begin in September 2026, and based in the following locations:

About the Position: The Lead Open Space Technician performs a wide variety of tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of assigned areas.  This role requires the use of considerable independence, initiative, and discretion within established guidelines. Key responsibilities include inspecting District properties and facilities to identify construction and maintenance needs, recommending appropriate actions, leading maintenance crews and performing complex duties to ensure that District lands and facilities are well maintained and provide the highest level of safety for public and staff use.  For additional information about the Lead Open Space Technician position, see the Job Description page on our website.

Work Environment: This position is part of the Land Stewardship & Trails Department assigned to a primary field office and will visit other Midpen field sites. This position may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must wear prescribed District uniform and adhere to strict safety procedures and work habits. Depending on the exposure, employee is required to wear head, hearing, eye, foot, face, hand, and full protection equipment. Employees work in the field and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical and/or electrical hazards, hazardous physical substances and fumes, and poison oak. Following onboarding and successfully meeting job performance expectations, may be eligible for the flexible work program which includes 9/80 schedules.

Education and Experience: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:   

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by college-level coursework in park maintenance, resource management, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of parks, open spaces, and/or related facilities, and/or resource management.

Licenses & Certifications Required:    

• Possession of a valid California Class C Driver’s License.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, Basic First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

certification within six (6) months of employment.

• Depending on assignment, possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Class A Driver’s

License and required endorsements within twelve (12) months of employment.  

• Depending on assignment, possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Grade I Water Treatment

Operator Certificate and Grade I Water Distribution Operator Certificate issued by the California

Department of Public Health (CDPH).

• Depending on assignment, possession of, or ability to obtain, a California Qualified Applicators

Certificate with Landscape Maintenance (Category B) for pesticide application within twelve (12) months of

employment.

• Depending on assignment, possession of, or ability to obtain, a District approved Fire Suppression Certification within twelve (12) months of assignment into the District’s fire program.

The position will be filled at either the Water Distribution Operator I or Water Distribution Operator II classification, dependent upon candidate qualifications. The salary ranges for each classification are as follows:

• Water Distribution Operator I: $35.87 – $48.43 hourly
• Water Distribution Operator II: $39.45 – $53.27 hourly

WORK SCHEDULE AND BENEFITS:

The District observes a 4/10 work schedule, Monday-Thursday, 10-hour days. The regular work schedule for the Water Distribution Operator I/II position is 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Water Distribution Operators also perform Standby Duty on a rotating basis. Standby Duty begins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday and shall end at 5:00 p.m. on the following Tuesday. Per CHWD policy, employees assigned to Standby Duty must reside within fifteen (15) miles of the District headquarters while performing Standby Duty.

Water Distribution Operators are directly involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of valves, mains, services, and related potable water distribution system facilities and equipment. Performs related work as required.

Water Distribution Operator I - This is the entry-level class in the Water Distribution Operator series. Positions in this class typically have little or no directly related work experience and work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks. The Water Distribution Operator I class is distinguished from the II level by the performance of less than the full range of duties assigned to the II level. Incumbents work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to general supervision as procedures and processes of the assigned area of responsibility are learned.

• Experience:
  • One year of responsible experience similar to a Water Distribution Worker with the District
• License and Certificate:
  • California Class C Driver’s License
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Grade D1 Water Distribution Operator certificate from the State of California Water Resources Control Board within one year of hire.

Water Distribution Operator II - This is the journey-level class in the Water Distribution Operator series and is distinguished from the I level by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new, unusual, or unique situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level once the incumbent meets the qualification standards of the II level, demonstrates an ability to perform the full scope of the work, and meets performance standards.

• Experience:
  • One year of responsible experience similar to a Water Distribution Operator I with the District
• License and Certificate:
  • California Class C Driver’s License
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Grade D2 Water Distribution Operator certificate from the State of California Water Resources Control Board within one year of hire

The Department:

SVP is seeking Journey Line workers that can perform routine and emergency work maintaining and expanding SVP’s electric transmission and distribution system, including but not limited to:

• Perform electrical installation and repair work and to construct and maintain overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission system.
