DEFINITION:

Under the general direction from Union City’s Cybersecurity Manager and/or Director of Information Technology Services, the Cybersecurity Intern will fulfill a variety of valuable functions. These include identifying and tracking Cybersecurity issues and incidents, gathering relevant data for troubleshooting and problem solving, interacting with Union City staff, working with cybersecurity applications and tools, monitoring systems for security events and alarms, preparing assessment and reports, and other duties as assigned.

• Monitor cybersecurity tools to identify security events.
• Help analyze cybersecurity alarms and incidents.

StopWaste is hiring an Energy Council Program Services Specialist to work on Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN) programs. The position will conduct community outreach and engage with stakeholders to make energy upgrades and electrify multifamily and single family buildings in Alameda County and the larger Bay Area. It will also work on growing and strengthening the clean energy workforce to help achieve energy and climate goals. The ideal candidate will have deep experience engaging and developing relationships with community partners. The position may be filled at the Program Services Specialist I, II, or Senior role depending on the applicant pool and the discretion of StopWaste staff.

POLICE ASSISTANT

Salary Range: $19.85 to $30.87/hour; temporary part-time, non-benefitted position, DOE

DEFINITION

The Police Assistant is a civilian, non-sworn, uniformed position that is responsible for a variety of customer service-based interactions with the community. Duties include non-hazardous enforcement of municipal parking laws and regulations as well as clerical front counter tasks related to phone and walk-in contacts at the police department.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from the Administrative Assistant. Projects are assigned, and the person usually works with very little supervision. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

• Handle confidential administrative duties at the front desk.
• Answer/forward all incoming phone calls.
• The ability to multi task phones with walk-in traffic
• Perform a variety of research & staff work; prepare reports.
• Maintain records using computers.
• Maintain filing system.
• Coordinate Parking Permits for business employees.
• Receive and respond to complaints and reports of routine parking incidents from the public.
• Respond to public complaint of abandoned vehicles; document and schedule tows for abandoned vehicles; and ensures proper disposition of illegally parked vehicles; patrols city streets and issues citations on vehicles parked in an unlawful manner.
• Assist in organizing and coordinating department events and community outreach programs.
• Manage office supplies and equipment inventory, placing orders as needed.
• Operate computer equipment and two-way radio as related to employment.
• Mark vehicles to detect abuse of timed areas.
• As required testifies in court.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Perform duties within OSHA standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge: 

• Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation.
• Principles and practices of records management.

Ability to:     

• Effectively communicate verbally and through written correspondence.
• Compose correspondence independently from brief instructions.
• Establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Analyze situations and identify pertinent problems/issues; collect relevant information; evaluate realistic options; and recommend /implement appropriate course of action.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Experience: 

Prefer one year in a non-sworn capacity with a municipal police agency involving clerical work and public contact.

Education:   

High school graduation or equivalent.

Licenses:

Program Assistant - Receptionist

Salary Range: $17.64 - $29.22/hour, depending on experience.

DEFINITION

Perform a wide variety of general clerical and/or operational support duties at the Danville Community Center and Senior Center, such as serve as a receptionist, operate a telephone system and assist/direct callers and visitors according to established procedures.

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position.
• 10-20 hours per week; not-to-exceed 950 hours per calendar year.

SUPERVISION

General supervision is received from the Administrative Assistant with indirect supervision from the Program Supervisor. May exercise supervision of part-time personnel and volunteers as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:

• Deal directly with the public and internal staff.
• Provide information to the walk-in public.
• Register participants and support facility reservations using Active Net software. 
• Assist at the Danville Senior Center front desk as needed.
• Provide administrative support on special projects, as assigned.

• Assist in proofreading the Activity Guide and other marketing materials.

• Communicate with a variety of programming staff to resolve customer inquiries.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must be able to handle multiple tasks, have strong computer skills and excellent customer service skills. Must be able to work a flexible schedule throughout the year.

Knowledge of:

• Correct English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
• Modern office methods, procedures and equipment, including office automation hardware and software.
• File management.
• Word processing (Microsoft Word) and data processing systems, including Microsoft Outlook.

Ability to:

• Have attention to detail and accuracy.
• Maintain a welcoming environment in busy office.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

One (1) year of experience performing standard clerical and secretarial duties. Prior experience as a receptionist in a related field preferred.

Education:

The equivalent of the successful completion of the twelfth grade; some college experience preferred.

Under general or direct supervision at the lower level and under direction at the higher level, incumbents perform varied professional technical, analytical, and administrative tasks in providing staff support to departments and divisions to; perform contract administration functions; compile and maintain records; conduct special studies, surveys, and research assignments in a variety of project, program, service, and/or operational procedures; and, to perform related work as required.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS:

The Sustainability Analyst I is the entry-level class in the Sustainability Analyst series. Incumbents in this class provide varied professional clerical and technical support in the administration of solid waste, recycling, organics and related sustainability programs.

The Sustainability Analyst II is the journey-level class in the Sustainability Analyst series. Incumbents are expected to be fully competent in all major solid waste and recycling program functions and able to independently perform assignments.

Incumbents at both levels are required to have an in-depth and comprehensive knowledge of the policies and procedures necessary to achieve program results.

Positions in the Sustainability Analyst series are flexibly staffed. Incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining the knowledge, skill, experience, licenses, and certifications which meet the qualifications for and demonstrating the ability to perform the work of the higher-level class.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only): 

• Perform research, field investigations and statistical analyses related to integrated solid waste management including waste reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting; compile and analyze data; identify and evaluate discrepancies, and proactively find solutions; formulate recommendations and viable alternatives; prepare, deliver, and/or present a variety of oral and/or written reports. 
• Assist in developing and conducting special projects, studies, surveys, and research assignments, policy, services, public education and outreach, data management, contract administration, for an office, department or division, as assigned. 
• Designs and develops a variety of materials and activities to promote, implement, and evaluate assigned sustainability and environmental programs in a manner that will enhance public awareness, educate citizens to relevant environmental issues, and encourage proactive and cooperative problem-solving activities. 
• Works with program staff on contract administration, program development, maintenance and continuous improvement. 
• Provide sustainability related technical assistance to city departments, divisions, staff, the public, community organization and businesses.

• Organizes and participates in assigned program area activities, including contract management and compliance, customer service and outreach, data collection and analysis, and presentation of technical and specialized data.

• Assist in the development, coordination, and monitoring of the department or division budget; research and evaluate costs; provide budget tracking tasks as required.

• Monitor and coordinate the daily operation of assigned functional area; perform detail-oriented work and maintain accurate records, systems, processes, and statistics; evaluate using appropriate metrics. 
• Develops and maintains databases, contract compliance tracking records, and forms as needed. 
• May conduct presentations related to City's sustainability and solid waste and recycling programs and services upon request. 
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Supervising Librarian at the Berkeley Public Library! In this role, you will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of the physical facility, supervision of professional, technical, and support staff, and providing reference and reader advisory services for the public. You will also represent Berkeley Public Library in meetings with the public, citizen groups, and other agencies.

This recruitment will create an eligible list that will be used by various Library divisions to fill future temporary and/or career positions in the next 12 months.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this classification is:
Equivalent to graduation from college or university with a Master's degree in Library Science and three (3) years of experience as a professional librarian. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college coursework on a year-for-year basis.

Other requirements include the ability to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program's needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, maintenance of a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required. Must be able to work evenings and weekends.

In addition to the qualifications above, the ideal candidate will have lead or supervisory experience.
