THE POSITION

The Water Resources Instrument Control Technician installs, operates, maintains, calibrates, and repairs computer hardware, process instrumentation, and telemetry equipment; de-bugs, modifies, and customizes software; modifies, maintains, and repairs all components of a programmable logic controller (PLC) based supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems/distributed control systems; and performs other duties as assigned.

Examples of duties and responsibilities may include:

• Installs, calibrates, programs, maintains, and repairs instruments, PLC based system/distributed control system components, meters, analyzers, recorders, control and feed systems, computers, monitors, printers, transducers, microprocessors, and data transmission systems

THE DEPARTMENT:

The Public Works Department is composed of a Director and 11 full-time management staff with a 26 million dollar operating budget.  The department is comprised of the Maintenance, Engineering, and WQCP (Water Quality Control Plant) divisions.  The Maintenance Division oversees 127 miles of streets which includes asphalt, concrete, over 12,000 road signs, street markings, 70 signalized intersections, 164 miles of sewers, 125 miles of storm drains, 3857 street lights, 5 lift stations, and various miscellaneous tasks.

THE POSITION

Under general direction, this Supervisor will perform responsible professional and technical work in promoting, organizing, and supervising a comprehensive maintenance program within the Public Works Department and will organize, schedule, and supervise the work of employees engaged in work; and does related work as assigned.

This multi-position middle management level classification performs work in several functional areas and is distinguished by its core responsibility for supervising employees, programs and activities within the Public Works or Parks and Recreation Department. This recruitment is for a Supervisor in the Public Works Department's Fleet Services.  The work is performed under general direction and incumbents may provide support for inter-divisional programs and functions. This classification has full supervisory responsibility for staff at different locations and has full administrative and fiscal responsibility for specific programs and/or projects.  Incumbents perform professional level activities and have considerable latitude for independent decision making in choosing methods of developing and implementing approved procedures.

Under direct supervision, Wastewater Collection Systems Workers perform a variety of routine to skilled work in the construction, modification, maintenance, and repair of City infrastructure, including wastewater collection, stormwater and drainage, and related systems. One Senior Maintenance Worker position will be assigned to the traffic markings and signs team responsible for a variety of tasks involving installing and maintaining traffic signs, painting pavement markings and striping, and repairing concrete sidewalk for the city. The City of Sunnyvale is recruiting for one Senior Park Utility Worker: Tree Maintenance in the Department of Public Works.  This position will lead a small crew (2 to 4 person crew), where the incumbent performs the work duties assigned as well as directs and oversees the work of the crew members.

Hours: Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30). Varying shifts are available including Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Under general supervision, individuals assigned to this classification assist the organization to develop and design reports, websites, social media collateral and other marketing and presentation materials. This classification focuses on the development of written and graphic representation for division or department materials. Individuals in this classification are primarily focused on enhancing the Division’s social media presence, developing all written material, performing administrative tasks, attending fairs and events to promote Recreation Services programs; and perform/ related work as required.

This position is characterized by developing new and innovative marketing collateral with limited structure or routine work. Work assignments are performed in collaboration with various divisions and levels of staff, independently, with responsibility for following through on development. The position requires creative ability, knowledge of how to generate graphics using The Adobe Suite, Canva, Microsoft Publisher, Word and Excel and the ability to exercise a reasonable degree of independent judgment. This classification assists with development and implementation of standards for consistency in materials, written and posted on the internet. The Marketing Associate receives direction from program supervisors and management staff.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Position is required to work on the Community Center campus and may not work from home. Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination when using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision when reading and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. The need to lift, push and pull files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required. Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:
The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, graphic arts or a closely related field; AND

The Department

The Human Services Department (HSD) delivers and supports services by forging long-term community partnerships; engaging with and building the capacity of the community to do its own problem- solving; and leveraging financial and volunteer resources.  The Aging and Family Services Division (AFS) of HSD specifically supports older residents and their caregivers to live active, healthy lives in the Tri-City community.

The Position

As a member of the HSD assigned to the AFS, the Senior Program Coordinator will organize, coordinate, and implement community wellness programs for older adults. The Community Programs include health promotion activities such as health screenings, wellness classes, and educational activities. The position works within a team that includes volunteers, health promoters, nurses, social workers and mental health workers. The position facilitates community awareness and partnerships, with individuals and agencies, to promote an age-friendly environment.
