The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently seeking one full-time Animal Care Technician.  Under general supervision, Animal Care Technicians assist in the daily maintenance, feeding and care of animals housed in the county’s animal care facility including those subject to quarantine, injured or ill; assist with euthanizations; provide information to the public regarding lost or stray animals; assist with licensing, pet adoptions and community volunteer programs; and perform related work as assigned.  This class is a working level class in the animal care series. 

Animal Care Services is a division of the Sheriff's Department.  Animal Care Services provides services for the unincorporated areas of Yuba County and is located in Olivehurst, California.  Animal Care Services care for lost animals, injured and abandon animals, and a provide variety of services that protect both citizens and animals. Most importantly, they keep lost pets safe and happy so they can be reunited with their owner or adopted into a new family.

The Firefighter-Paramedic protects life, property, and the environment by performing firefighting activities, emergency medical aid, hazardous materials response, and fire prevention duties. The position is also responsible for maintaining fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities.

What You’ll Do

• Perform skilled tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of diesel and gas-powered apparatus, vehicles, hydraulic systems for aerial ladders, and other like equipment.
• Accept assignments received in the form or oral or written communications.
• Determine the nature and extent of needed repairs, prioritize them, and perform necessary repairs.
• Inspect all department vehicles to ensure they meet proper safety protocols and are in standard working order.
• Maintain all vehicles to ensure safe working order for all employees.
• Perform regular servicing and preventative maintenance on all vehicles and apparatus including performing tune-ups, lube, oil, filter, Inspection, and chassis lubrication.
• Diagnose, service, maintain such things as: fire pumps, relief valves, and other control of plumbing equipment (proper certification required).
• Inspect, diagnose, and repair engines, power train components, transmissions, transfer cases, differentials, hydraulic and pneumatic brake systems, steering and suspension systems, and electrical systems.
• Perform welding and fabricating work when applicable.
• Operate all equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
• Perform routine shop maintenance and clean-up and dispose of hazardous materials according to established procedures.
• Keep records of work assignments for bookkeeping and tracking purposes.
• Potentially respond to unanticipated emergencies to make temporary and/or permanent repairs in the field.

Central County Fire Department (CCFD) serves the Cities of Burlingame and Millbrae and the Town of Hillsborough. The City of Berkeley invites applications for the position of Housing Inspector II (Certified)! In this role, you will perform skilled inspection work with City residential housing inspection programs. You will independently perform the full scope of work in the investigation, reporting and follow-up of housing deficiencies to gain compliance with housing, building, zoning, fire, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and related codes and regulations.

Assignments are varied and generally require close interaction with the public, providing information and interpretation of applicable ordinances, codes and regulations. We'll expect you to exercise considerable independence and discretion in conducting inspections, resolving complaints and enforcing inspection results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from high school and at least two years of full-time experience equivalent to Housing Inspector or Building Inspector or Code Enforcement Inspector for a public agency. 

Must possess:

• An International Code Council (ICC) OR California (CA) certification in Residential Building or Housing Inspection or in Code Enforcement; and
• ICC or CA Residential or Commercial Electrical Inspector certification and ICC or CA Residential or Commercial Plumbing Inspector certification, or equivalent ICC or CA Legacy Certification for either Combination Inspector or Combination Dwelling Inspector.

Other requirements: Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to meet the program needs and to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, incumbent is required to maintain a valid California driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record.

In addition to the qualifications above, the ideal candidate will have effective and courteous communication skills in order to discuss housing violations, violation remedy and necessary inspections and fees and participate in depositions and court hearings as requested. The Dixon Fire Department is opening their first Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit position for someone to attend the Fire Academy in August 2024. The "Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit" is an entry-level classification designed for recruits with a current paramedic license to gain firefighting, fire rescue, and fire prevention skills and training necessary through an accredited Fire Academy. Training may include firefighting techniques and procedures; emergency medical training; technical rescue and hazardous materials training.

EMPLOYMENT PROCESSING:  Following successful completion of the academy, Firefighter/Paramedics will be placed in a full-time, regular appointment and required to successfully complete an 18-month probationary period, and in accordance with Federal law, are to provide proof of identity and proof that they may legally work in the United States.
