THE POSITION

Under general supervision, this assignment assists with organization and instruction of preschool classes for children 18 months through 5 years. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in leading recreation activities in program areas such as preschool, playground, parks, teens, sports, special events, and senior citizen activities.
• Assist in carrying out recreational activities appropriate to a variety of locations such as playgrounds, parks, community centers, preschool classrooms, school sites, and sports facilities.
• Assist in leading activities in areas such as arts and crafts, games, sports, music, drama, and nature study.
• Assist in setting up, taking down, and cleaning up recreational facilities; as assigned, open and close facilities as scheduled for use, and secure the facility upon leaving.
• May provide minor first aid to recreation program participants and/or perform related first aid/emergency techniques.
• Exercise precautions necessary to ensure the safety of recreation program participants and spectators.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Set up furniture or equipment for activities scheduled and see that it is in proper condition and is replaced after use.
• Monitor activities of facility users for appropriate and safe conduct.
• Clean up after facility users and set up for subsequent activities; sweep and mop floors as required, empty trash receptacles throughout the facility, as necessary; keep restrooms and kitchen clean and well stocked with paper towels, tissues, etc.
• Answer the telephone, provide information to callers and write messages, as needed.
• Assist customers at the front counter.
• Perform general clerical work such as issuing receipts, photocopying, and filing; complete and submit required forms and reports.
• Clean and sanitize workstation and equipment.
• Assist in conducting preschool class activities in areas such as arts and crafts, games, music, or story time.
• Notify appropriate City staff regarding necessary repair and/or replacement of play areas/related equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

THE POSITION

As part of the Parks and Community Services Department, the intern will broaden their knowledge of the operations involved in coordinating City-provided programs, facilities, and events. Some specific tasks include research and development of programs for the Dublin Arts Center, planning and implementing special events and summer camps, waterpark operations, and website management.

In March 2024, California passed Proposition 1. Proposition 1 authorizes $6.4 billion in bonds to pay for major projects such as housing for veterans and mental health, drug, and/or alcohol facilities.  Proposition 1 will also shift how revenue from the 1% tax on income above $1 million is spent under the law. DEFINITION

Glenn County is recruiting individuals to fill three full time and multiple Part Time/ Extra Help positions in the Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II/III position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, bridges, and other related structures, and in various traffic control maintenance and  repair activities of the Public Works Agency; operates a variety of construction, maintenance and transportation equipment as necessary to complete daily tasks at the Glenn County Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker III position is the journey-level class in the series, and is distinguished from the Public Works Maintenance Worker II by the primary responsibility to operate heavy diesel and gasoline-powered construction equipment in the maintenance of roadways, drainage systems. 
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Prepares roads for patch repairs, overlays, or chip seals; prepares mix for patching roads; repairs and reconstructs roads.
• Cleans roadsides and drainage systems; inspects and clears debris from drainage systems; conducts roadside burning as needed.

DEFINITION

Develop, organize, and implement delivery of recreation and social services to the citizens of Danville in accordance with program objectives set forth by the Recreation, Arts and Community Services Department. Perform professional duties in Community Centers, Village Theatre and Art Gallery, and/or Teen Centers, as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from a Program Supervisor.  Exercises supervision over Program Assistants and other program personnel, as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Plan, implement and evaluate programs, events and services.
• Assist in recruiting, training, supervising and evaluating part-time personnel and volunteers.
• Conduct and attend a variety of training seminars, staff meetings, and community meetings.

Specific to Sports & Fitness and Facility Management

Responsible for the development and implementation of sports programming, including aquatics, and organizing a variety of recreational sports leagues for youth and adults.  Work closely with the school district.  Supervises seasonal Aquatics program to include staff training and in-services. Requires a basic understanding of sports terminology, concepts, and rules. Responsible for sports & fitness fee classes offered in the Danville Activity Guide.  Support facility management through facility rentals.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of recreation programming.
• Human development as it relates to planning recreation and leisure programs and activities for the public.
• Leadership, group dynamics, and facilitation concepts and techniques.

The Human Resource Manager will conduct, lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. ACM - To perform a variety of administrative and managerial responsibilities in the conduct and management of the activities of preparing City Council agendas, minutes, and Council packets, as well as responding to Public Records request and maintaining all official City records. CC- The City Clerk shall perform those duties set out in the City of Marysville Charter and ordinances, as well as is prescribed by State and other law.
